What I appreciate about your channel? No ego, no guilt tripping, no BS. Your experience is worth taking the time to watch, I’ve had enough of shamming people, criticizing other producers, let’s just make music, release it, realtime live. ❤️ ✌🏼
Sometime the best track is not the more complicated... In France we have proverb: " in the life the best thing are very often the more simple" it's the same for beatmaking. You have right Marlow 👍
yes agree 100% I actually stopped mixing and mastering my tracks in Ableton... I just found a way to do everything in the MPC (standalone and software) and I'm happier this way. I know some additional plugins could get me a cleaner sound but my mixing has improved so much just by not having to look at my pc screen during the process.
gOOD JOB HOMEY,, thats exactly how I make my beats and tunes. I thinnk that freestyle for 10 to 20 minutes is so important to get some soul on the track. and then go in and take out the bad and arrange the good! thats pro style !
Love this channel, man. Your music always has that special sauce and you seem like such a genuine human. No bullshit, no hype, just buttery smooth beats and honest insight.
This is a great method, pretty much the way I do things. Jamming, experimenting, making mistakes as well as making magic, then cutting together the best stuff.
Thanks for that one! I don’t listen to much youtube beatmaking content. I don’t really care for it. But the authenticity of your channel is what gets me. Thanks for doing this and keeping it real.
This was encouraging to hear. Most of the time I just jam with whatever instrument (usually hardware), and then I find something that has promise. It may sound terrible to most, but if I enjoy it, that's all that matters to me.
Thanks for another inspiring vid. I have been struggling with the loop-to-full-song jump, particularly on my polyend tracker. Even though I make very different music to you, I find your sound, outlook and whole aesthetic so engaging and enjoyable. You have a great vibe. My favourite vid of yours is the one where you emphasised the importance of putting your work out there. It really changed the way I thought about production. I've put my music out there a lot more, and it has helped my musical growth a great deal. Thanks again.
I just cut a sample and loop it 3 times for 3 bars and then let sample play out from the 3rd bar to the 4th and it never really gets more complex then that. I might sometimes make several one minute beat loops using a different part of the sample and then add that all together.
Ooo this is a really good idea. I love jamming with mutes and solos and stuff so this makes a lot of sense to me. Love your videos always, you’re so chill
That's a dope way man! When I record the complete beat i made on the mpc or on the sp404 or whatever is not a daw usually i record it on the sp404 with all the mute track and dynamics but I have to think about the arrangement before doing it and practice a lil bit cuz if i make a mistake or i don't like that record i have to try it again and again. Interesting approach man!
Jam sessions are what's missing this days. Back in the days that's exactly how great albums were put out. Some of the best recordings are live sets were the artist was just living in the moment.
Thanks for the behind the scenes. I used to just record jams with hardware and just use the DAW to record. Then going back and taking the parts that turned out good for my EPS. I need to get back to that again.
I think finding ones own process can make you you...you start to have your own sound and that’s ultimate goal of a man or woman of music. Good shit man
Love this process, so straightforward and really supports creativity. I'm a huge believer in using simple processes to achieve challenging or creative results 👏
Man Marlow, thanks for sharing. I really appreciate these videos. Really cool way of exploring the possibilities when arranging with the MPC. Also, your tracks are always inspiring to listen to. Much respect 🔥
Bro Thank-you man I be learn on a Roland fantom and if made so many loops and vibe . I been really struggling to build it a full song I love the idea of free-styling then rearranging like you have inspire . Really simple idea Jam and flow then chop so gonna fit my style Thanks for Insperation
Your album is incredible with very pleasant rhythms when listening to them, a great musical work without a doubt for me, thanks to your advice and my hearing improved day by day when listening to rhythms in different musical genres and I was able to create my own rhythms, you give good advice by creating a beat and creating good content, leaving something positive for the community that follows him and listens to his work, there is no doubt that his next album will leave nothing to be desired when listening to it, greetings and blessings, Master Marlow
I love your beats, and your work philosophy, I have long struggled with the idea of making the process more pleasant and less laborious. Blessings from Argentina. ♥
Great video... love the process. I found it useful on most occassions for exploring options. Nothing has to be concrete and the possibilities endless, however is a great way to see what sounds best. Keep up the killer work brother. Just picked up my MPC X this morning... pretty stoked! ✌🧡👍
I do a similar thing to him when recording My own synthesizer or other instrument, I just record Me playing around and jamming and then chop out what I like and then I'll make that into a track.
I like this! Up till now, i've been essentially messing around trying to make beats via a jam session...I could see this extra step making the process alot more relaxing lol!
Sounds like a good approach. I normally jam around and then replicate the patterns I like within the hardware or just record the final piece as a one shot. But I'd like to experiment with the way you do it, I think it can sound more natural / improvised at times, although you need to spend more time in the daw re-listening to bits, glueing them together etc. Thanks for sharing!
If it feels good, then it’s good, Marco! Glad you show us what feels good to your flow because that’s what creativity is all about! Good to hop on and see you again :-)
Man thank you for making this video. My biggest struggle was always arrangement. I actually do it exactly like this. The biggest takeaway which can hinder us is making music YOU LIKE. If it makes you feel good go for it. Making music is personal expression of self. Enjoy the process and rock on good people. ☮️ & blessings.
Almost the same workflow. Ill usually arrange it in MPC then bounce it to the DAW and add some sizzlean.🤙 Whats the benefit of having multiple sequences?
Your videos are a refreshing insight on how artists compose their own means of production 😁 I appreciate the time you have taken to articulate your thoughts in an easily digestible manner, it is clear that you have a deep passion for music. 👍👍
Dope bro. I'd love to see you do a several hour master lass showing this process in more detail on the MPC-X. Maybe a play by play of you recording a whole EP.
Love your vibes! I 100% create in song mode on the MPC (just mess with different variations of sequences until I'm happy). Thanks for showing your process. Really interesting. Love that Come Home beat tape, its a classic to me personally. Artwork was spot on aswell.
pfff. i knew it. been overthinking technicals stuff all the time. lololol. thanks for this, ive been jamming similarly with separate apps not synced considering myself cheating all the time feeling i have to take into proper format etc.. im a relax now and get stuff completed hahahah.
If it sounds good, it is good. This has made me think about a few particular tracks that I have that already sound good as they are coming out of my ISLA S2400. Great timing with this video
Bro this video is so inspirational. I've tracked out 100 beats last week but the thought of "professionally" mixing them is a bit overwhelming. Definitely not trying to be lazy but just wanna enjoy music making without the pressure of making it sound "industry standard. I've performed beats live on my MPCX into the logic just as you did and had a lot more fun and finished way more beats.
You made this right on time. I just got my Live 2 and was questioning how I was going to go about final arrangement. Ultimately if the final outcome sounds good, tracking everything out is unnecessary. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh my eyes are bleeding the video is so sharp 😂 I can read the words on the computer in the front and the keyboard in the back 😂 damn headphones on top of the roads look like they floating 😂 just giving you a hard time bro I’ve been binging on your content lately 🧠💎 appreciate you 💎
I like this approach, spent years not putting stuff out, because I thought it all had to be stemmed out and done properly! All the stuff I done on the fly was arranged better just wish I had spent more time mixing in my mpc. Do you use logics master clock and sync on the mpc so it’s easier to slice up in logic? Great video as usual!
interesting process. I reflexively go straight for programming everything out but this method certainly would give it a looser and organic vibe. I will definitely work this into my process. 🍕

one of the best videos on creating songs Ive seen. Easy to forget why we do this.

I like to record the full beat into my sp 404 and resample with the sp 404 effects

beats always flawless in every video but lets talk about this new streaming set up and video setting. keep it up man channel is perfect
i do it like you, i love simple workflow and it just gives me a good feeling to work like that.

Hi Matthew, I'm a headphone guy

This is a great video! You just inspired some ideas on arranging beats in a similar way.
Whatever works for you, don't be forced into any ideological position on beatmaking, just be free and express yourself the way you want.

When is the repress of your albums coming out?!
I have this one to press now bit I'll def do a repress of all my past albums again in the future
Marlow Digs do you ever use virtual instruments plugins along with the MPC?
I don't, I sample everything. if I do my synth experiments I usually use the Synths available in the studio.
I really enjoy that album 👌🔥❤️
Thanx!
interesting process. I reflexively go straight for programming everything out but this method certainly would give it a looser and organic vibe. I will definitely work this into my process. 🍕
Love this. Such a nice approach. Do you think it would be possible to do this dawless on the 404 mk2? Are there any reason why that wouldn’t work?
I think it would be a similar approach but it works. The new update already has pad mutes so you can do a similar workflow.
I use a Tascam DP-24 and I do this exact thing with my Native Instruments Maschine.
