Just bought an MPC one and your man john has taught me so much in 40 minutes that several other creators haven't , I'd go as far as say that others have put me off but this g made me want to pick it up immediately, thanks for the video 🙏
My man definitely did a good job in this video of showing you how to work it. I’m definitely going to buy me one but Akai, please upgrade the ram. None of your machines should have less than eight gigs of RAM.💯🤟🏽
Probably the best breakdown I've seen for the MPC so far, legit good enough to make me wanna buy one and give it a try. Never liked production but I think the issue was I always used software only. I'm realizing now (especially recently while going back to vinyl and film) that perhaps what was needed all along was a base in the real world for me to enjoy it. Film is tangible, vinyl is tangible, and with an MPC I can engage with music in a more organic human way:)
Ok - yeah the red is nice… But other than that and WI-FI/Bluetooth - which could have been accomplished for $20 with a USB hub / WiFi’s module. 16gb storage is a joke… this and all MPCs ought to have 256gb minimum built it. The “new processor” is a straight up lie. It is the same processor across then entire line right now… I mean the $699 price point really ought to be like $499. AKAI really needs to look at the new PUSH 3 and think about what they should / could do better. In short - this will not be taking my money.
Push is $2K for the standalone xD Rough comparison. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I'm just saying you can't really compare products in such drastically different price brackets.
Akai need to get their products working properly before they bring out more products, I bought a mpc live 2 last week and it doesn't work in controller mode, it's a terrible first time experience 😒
Just wish they'd have upped the RAM a little. Otherwise they're moving in the right direction. I sold my One last year to fund Octatrack, but might consider getting this someday. We'll see if they beef up any other devices.
I cannot understand why people are complaining. They took the MPC One which is already a great machine and made it better for $699. What's to complain about? People were paying $800 for the 1st edition MPC one.
At last. This looks like a great instrument. Never before has a product made such an impression on me. Revolution! Turn. I decided to one day get an MpC because it has a step sequencer just like how you use it in Fl Studio. And do a process of elimination in each pattern until you come up with a full song. It's easy to use Mpc One even tho I didn't buy one yet. To me, it's just a DAW in a box that,
Alright cool. MPC One was my first MPC. It's.... Pretty alright, though, "intuitive" would not be a word i would use to describe it. I think it tries to do too much instead of excelling at a few things. The pads are great for finger drumming.
It's like stuffing a child with a lot of candy to make them happy. Meanwhile, it's illogical ordered and structured. Too many workarounds and cumbersomes.
mpcs are instruments on its own, they had kinda similar workflow from day one. had to took lessons for my mpc 1000 cause i was getting nowhere, and it never happened before. once you get the file management system and the progam/tracks, its a very powerfull instrument. i cannot think of any other machine in any price range that has the capability of the newer mpcs. but yeah, you need to spend some time, its not intuitive, for shure.
Hey yall, So my brother is a MPC2000 producer str8 out the mid 90's. Ive written and recorded countless tracks to beats he made on his original Mpc over my lifetime. So the Mpc was always there with me. But now i produce myself, so this is the very first time ive seeing the Mpc workflow. And no wonder he made such dope beats and i struggle to sequence and complete tracks using linear daws. Please tell me Why oh WHY is the midi controller pads like Mpd and MPC Beats software it comes with NOWHERE NEAR as intuitive or as easy and fun as this beautiful process i see on this video? I was excited to use the Mpd211 and MPC beats, when my brother bought it for me as a B-day gift, but in no time i gave up cuz its a total mess! Even as a plugin to a DAW its confusing and essentially unusable. I wont use the term workflow when describing them, because i find neither work, nor flow is achievable. So my MPD most often sits on a shelf as a cheap novelty item. Pads that i cant even custom program sounds to. Ive tried many many times and fail cursing every time. I'd rather learn to code and build my own software than navigate MPC Beats along with MPD Editor. MPD Editor?? Just why?? Why cant MPC Beats be a software version of the MPC? We need an affordable Akai software OF Mpc, BY Akai Mpc to pair with the affordable Akai midi controller pads. Dont just phone it in guys! I believe in you Akai! Keep up the good work, cuz this MPC One+ console is dope! ~Josh R. P.S. Apologies if i missed a release or remake, i gave up on MPC Beats a not long after its release.
That WiF/Bluetooth update is HUGE. It makes every other feature more accessible. Currently for my retro ed MPC ONE I have to connect via Ethernet directly from my ISP modem. It’s easy to connect externals to the USB and the SD, but at some point with firmware updates and plugins, you gotta connect to the internet. I’ve spent so much on gear that gets a big update within months of buying. I bought my Retro Ed ONE directly from AKAI PROFESSIONAL …. I wonder if they’d let me trade up for this + model? I can dream can’t I? Lol.
@@Elephantitusofthenuts i've got live2, so i'm looking for something new, something better. MPC One is great, but people expect progress, something that will make them not have to look for a long time, but something modern in a standalone version. People do not want cosmetic changes but new quality
Hello all. Thank you for that excellent video! Detailed and precise information. You made it look like so much fun, wow! Much appreciated. Can you do one for the Akai MPK Mini Plus? I know nothing about any of this but want to learn. Is the MPC Key 37 or the MPC One+ too much for a beginner? Please advise. Rock rock on!!!
Ok, just one question. Is this video supposed to be out now? I've just looked on Akai's website and there's nothing about the MPC ONE+. Also nowhere on UA-cam, at least not since 20 seconds ago. Hmm.
I tried connecting my MPC One Plus to my Bluetooth Speaker to the headphone Jack with my stereo mini Auxiliary cable & it didn’t work but yet it works on the regular black MPC One which doesn’t have Bluetooth or WiFi. If you have successfully connected a Bluetooth speaker to your MPC Plus can you please…let me know exactly how you did it?
Everyone hating on Akai, very weird. I hope this does well, and sells to new customers BECAUSE I already have a MPC Live 2 and I want them to keep updating this platform so I don't need to sell my old stuff and buy new.
There's nothing new going on here! I hope ppl DONT buy this, so Akai could maybe think about improving the quality of their hardware! 700 bucks for a rehashed groovebox machine stuck to a wall is pretty ridiculous when a computer and a controller offers much more around that price. Buying this used is probably the way to go
what new features are you seeing with the one+ that you think will attract new customers vs the original one? I doubt many buyers even realised wifi+bluetooth was an omission when buying the original. Unless you think they were all waiting for a red one.
You can install plugins in standalone but you can't install Expansions in standalone. I currently have purchased Expansions I can't install w/o a computer. Unless I'm wrong or don't know something please let me know.
Just unboxing the ONE tomorrow with my studio guy,,the mpc to go with my Harp playing,,thank you for this video as the others were offputting and yours makes me want to get into it! thanks guys 🤵♀TuxedoDeb
this was super helpful - i think i missed it but is it possible to have the ableton clip launch section at the top (where you can use the touchscreen) and the bottom pads controlling the internal drum sounds? Would be great to know if so
Hey, thanks for your interest! The short answer is yes, you’re able to do linear sequencing on the current generation of MPC’s. However, the workflow is quite unique and different from what you’ll find on most DAWs. I would describe it as a hybrid between linear and pattern-based sequencing. I’ve owned an MPC One for several years, and it definitely took some getting used to, but it’s a really powerful composition and production tool! My typical approach is to start with a series of patterns for each section of a composition, then use the Song feature to turn those patterns into one long sequence for further overdubs/edits. Hope this helps a bit - feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
20:01 @sweetwater has a good point. Would it make a change to the sequence if overdub rec, if let’s say I want to mute pad just partially lets say 1,3 only? Or is it only a life performance feature? Sorry have no mpc at the moment to check it for myself, but curious to know the answer
It's a totally different flow to music making... Use both! I use Akai force and a few other hardware devices to kick off ideas.. I then finish em off in Bitwig.
Nope. Its cheaply made junk from InMusic. This isn't the real Japanese Akai from the 90s. Want a real MPC get one from the 90s otherwise its a waste of money.
I get why Akai are trying to sell Fabric XL and all the other packs, but it's kinda weird. Sure they want to keep tapping you for money, but the MPC is a sampler. So you can just do the work and sample everything you need. And the Fabric XL stuff is all set up to catch your ear with each sound being loaded with effects. Which gives you work. You have to take all that junk off to make the sounds useable in a mix. So you may as well sample and get the sound right from the beginning. If you sample you don't need better specs than the first gen MPC Live/X/One. Plenty capable. It's only the Fabric XL stuff that bogs down that hardware. Bogs it down with junk you don't need. Boils down to your mondset. If you understand the MPC as a sampler which you have to fill up with your own conent to make your own music, and you are willing to put time and effort in, you are golden. If you think it is what Akai are now pushing in terms of all the extras they want to sell you, then you may be disappointed. The magic beans ain't growing into anything special.
Nobody is “tapping” you for anything. This childlike logic is getting old. You can get a MPC and do with it as you choose. The choice is yours. In case you’re not perceptive enough to pick it up, MPCs are more than samplers. They sequence, control, and allow to compose.
Wow, 4 gigs to 16 gigs, wifi, and a candy red colorway. Not sure how this makes sense to buy over a computer, DAW, and a midi controller. Has the sound improved in the MPC at all?
Hello, great question! This mode is set up to use diatonic scales so there is not an easy way to set up secondary dominants. However, a possible workaround would be to sample that chord and assign it to a pad manually. Thanks!
Excellent course on the One+ ty
Lol.
I’m keeping my retro one… it’s the same thing lol
there are lots of cheap and easy solutions to convert RJ45/ethernet to wifi, including wall sockets and usb powered dongles.
I’m a veteran musician, but a rookie to the MPC hardware, so any info ‘anyone can give me on such things is much appreciated.
definitely worth having.
Don't PUSH3 me cause I'm close to the edge...
Go get one for 699??? 🤡
Wiggle pad 😂 my beats for wiggles yo
Ea ski am I doing the wiggle right ????😂
@@Elephantitusofthenuts i've got live2, so i'm looking for something new, something better.
MPC One is great, but people expect progress, something that will make them not have to look for a long time, but something modern in a standalone version. People do not want cosmetic changes but new quality
@@nieprawdopodobniebystry2158 ok buddy go wiggle them pads
@@alchemistrpm82 still without ableton suite
I'm glad I didn't buy a ONE when the price went up to $799. I'd be hot 🤬
I was hoping they added standard size pads though.
How can I change the color
No wonder John is the Product Specialist for Akai he's a great teacher.
Can you tell me if the drum and the kick in this machine can be tuned so it sounds like acoustic drums
Absolutely brilliant
Ok, just one question. Is this video supposed to be out now? I've just looked on Akai's website and there's nothing about the MPC ONE+. Also nowhere on UA-cam, at least not since 20 seconds ago. Hmm.
Bro asking all the right questions
I tried connecting my MPC One Plus to my Bluetooth Speaker to the headphone Jack with my stereo mini Auxiliary cable & it didn’t work but yet it works on the regular black MPC One which doesn’t have Bluetooth or WiFi.
If you have successfully connected a Bluetooth speaker to your MPC Plus can you please…let me know exactly how you did it?
25:06 A MINOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR!
Yo, this is stellar. I got my Retro One, but I want one of these, too!!!
Just for the color?
Don’t waste your money
I REALLY needed this!👍🏼
Everyone hating on Akai, very weird.
Unless you think they were all waiting for a red one.
well explained that man, proper in depth look at this item, well done and at first i thought it was eminem
Why red? If it’s different colour I’ll purchase it
You can install plugins in standalone but you can't install Expansions in standalone.
Would be great to know if so
MAN WHY DO THE KEEP DROPN NEW BOARDS WITH NO UPDATES, JUST COLOR CHANGES 🤣. I DON'T GET IT! ALL OF THE INTERFACES AND SOUND ARE THE SAME.
Does it do linear sequencing like DAW and old school Roland Fantom X linear sequencing?

@sweetwater has a good point.
Would it make a change to the sequence if overdub rec, if let’s say I want to mute pad just partially lets say 1,3 only?
Or is it only a life performance feature?
Sorry have no mpc at the moment to check it for myself, but curious to know the answer
Great introduction!!
What happened to Andy Mac?
He toxic on this side of the lake currently so he on time out
Ea Ski ran him off.
He's in hiding
No time to promote mpc one because he just bought PUSH 3 and no one has the strength to tear him away from this machine
@@Kmosleymusic🔥👊🤣👍🔥
Ok i have to ask. Is it worth it to jump from fl studio to this beauty???
It's a totally different flow to music making... Use both! I use Akai force and a few other hardware devices to kick off ideas.. I then finish em off in Bitwig.
Nope. Its cheaply made junk from InMusic. This isn't the real Japanese Akai from the 90s. Want a real MPC get one from the 90s otherwise its a waste of money.
Hope u can do more than 8tracks
Great tutorial
I just brought one❤
So more ram or ?
Nope. 2 GB. It’s written on the packaging that Samplekings showed in its video.
@@kernelpaniiic yeah that’s what I thought unless them processors are way better then I’m thinking 🤔 lol
I guess this is good news that 3.0 probably can run on 2 GB of ram now
I get why Akai are trying to sell Fabric XL and all the other packs, but it's kinda weird.
@@matthewgaines10 Way to miss the point and be arguiing with yourself bro.
how many years do i have to wait until i can get the 5000$ dollar collection of non AIR or akai VST?
Does Akai understand we can buy colorways third party?
Who is the product specialist? How can I find more tutorials from John at M music?
Wow, 4 gigs to 16 gigs, wifi, and a candy red colorway. Not sure how this makes sense to buy over a computer, DAW, and a midi controller. Has the sound improved in the MPC at all?
TWO gigs of Ram, they didnt even upgrade THAT
@@Syntox The one DJ Shadow used back in the day didn't have anywhere near this amount of power. PEBKAC.
"Yo whatup aaari, dats wot I'm talking 'bout" - This is exactly how to alienate professionals from your sampling product.
How much is it I want one?
$699.00...nice !
very well done
when I go into track mute it just shows track one . on the bottom right it shows time division TC And solo any idead why mine is different?
Thank You, great video o./
27:30 Can it play secondary dominants or how does it support tonicization?
Hello, great question! This mode is set up to use diatonic scales so there is not an easy way to set up secondary dominants. However, a possible workaround would be to sample that chord and assign it to a pad manually.
Thanks!
