As of now the folks over at IK Multimedia have updated the Tonex software to version 1.7.1 and it is a really great update with what I feel are some great new workflow enhancements along with Tonex One Pedal support. I hope you enjoy the video and the new update and tone models!

Great info! Thanks for your knowledge..it’s awesome Jason.
My pleasure and thank you :-)
This is great!!! At last my workflow with editing presets is faster and the way that it should be. Love it.
I am loving the update also :-) Glad you are enjoying!
Thanks Jason, I love this software. I don't have any of the Tonex Pedals yet but the software will obviously help them sell.
My pleasure and thank for watching :-)
The tone model to preset toggle is realy nice while keeping the amp representation up
Yeah it really is! Much better workflow now :-)
Jason, Exciting to see the update. Many thanks for the video and detail explanation. Can you just get on their case about releasing the pedal desktop editor. I love the ToneX pedal and am fine with the ToneX SW and ToneNet. Just every time I want to make many adjustments to my pedal's preset using the computer I have to go through so many steps: (1) connect USB to pedal, (2) hold model select knob several seconds on the pedal to get to settings, (3) scroll past Present to Global and then press to enter global settings, (4) scroll to Operation and click, (5) change operation setting to Interface, (6) click to back out to top menu, (7) remember to go into ToneX SW settings and confirm the audio input and output are set to ToneX Pedal as the SW seems to commonly start with input/output set to the computer's mic, (8) remember that have to bypass the pedal with the foot switch blinking, (9) copy present from pedal to SW, (10) finally hear present in SW, (11) make desired changes, (12) copy preset back to pedal, (13) switch pedal operation mode back to Live, (14) confirm sounds right on pedal. Again, love the pedal, just IK release the pedal desktop editor, please ! And with the ToneX-1 being more limited with tweaking on-pedal, the editor is going to become even more important.
I really wish they could make the text smaller and not just zoom when you enlarge (it's impossible to get enough data on teh screen at one time), i believe they had a mockup that showed a way to scale the UI but it must not have been possible yet.
I like the preset layout update. Makes a lot more sense. I just cant wait for the update that lets you adjust the pedal preset on the computer! I dont have an audio interface so im adjusting parameters blind and loading them to tonex pedal to hear how they sound. Am i dumb or is there a better way?
If I am understanding you correctly, you're frustrated about not being able to demo the Tone Models before dragging them into the pedal? There are a couple options you have. Firstly, TONEX Pedal works as an audio interface. Score! So, you actually DO have an audio interface ;) ... Aside from that, a handy feature to quickly demo the sounds of different Tone Models / Presets is to use the Audio Demo feature on the TONEX software. It comes in handy if you want to get a ballpark of what you're going after. Hope this helps!
Great video Jason, I’m curious, coming to this as a helix user. I have noticed a large amount of the captures I have tried feel like they need a high cut. Particularly the Marshalls I have tried. There seems to be no way in the software to deal with this. Curious for your thoughts.
I'm in the same camp as you. I've noticed that basically anything I load in, I immediately go to the cab and turn on the high cut. I've gotten used to it but it's annoying.
@@TooltrocityI can’t even find a high cut in the Tonex software? How are you doing it?. I’m currently using the free version until the Tonex one pedal starts shipping.
@@nickangus3211 Sorry I was referring to the Helix. I don't have the Tonex so I can't help you.
@@nickangus3211 The treble is the high cut. The tone controls are not modeling how an amp works, they are a low shelf, a high shelf, and a parametric mid. I also cut the highs at about 6.6k in the device before my headphones.
@@TheFrozenDesertgotcha! Makes sense, I need to spend some time with this thing for sure. I’m sort of considering getting the little pedal so I can pop it in the loop of the Helix to get some nice amps that the helix doesn’t have. It certainly has an amazing feel, but I only have a small laptop and even with the helix as the interface, Tonex is pretty glitchy and poppy. If I run the buffer at 128 it copes but the latency is super obvious. It’s fine for testing though, I love the feel of the Dumble captures. But out of the box, most of the amps seem incredibly shrill in the high end to me.
How does someone put an OD pedal capture in front of an amp model? I did a pedal capture but it seems to create a tone model with the captured pedal over the DI signal which is less than impressive. Can I use my captured pedal in front of various amps - like in the real world?
I believe that one of the most interesting updates they could make is the possibility of making changes to the parameters of the amplifiers and reverbs and when the pedal is connected to the PC with USB that have immediate effects on the pedal. Let me explain, if I'm working on an amplifier already loaded on the pedal, if I make changes I would like them to happen immediately on the pedal and that they can be saved directly from the software as happens on the most common modeller editors. I find these updates superfluous and useless
when I tweak a preset nothing changes, I must be doing something wrong
Would like to see the 2 presets with one switch on the tonex pedal, so you can't put it in bypass anymore.
That would be a cool option!
