Anyone else use to play this mission (and others) only through the cockpit view? Man that was a blast! I'd use the C stick to look around. I even learned how to trip AT-AT's using cockpit view! I had too much time on my hands as a kid, haha.
Amazing what an increased framerate and resolution can accomplish. The game looks like a solid single A studio quality game, and thats a huge compliment for such an older title.
The changes to the AI in this game are pretty cool. In the original Rogue Squadron, enemy fighers were basically on rails, flying around the maps on a predetermined path, and would only shoot you if you got in front of them. In this game, fighters' paths are more organic, and they'll actually follow you around. Plus, if they're flying in formation, shooting the fighter in front will cause the tailing fighters to scatter. Pretty cool additions to enemy behavior.
At least in the latest Star Wars games, the bad guy AIs have more fleshed-out programming, flying in their OWN flight paths and breaking from said paths so that they can shoot you down.
The Hoth battle is really cool, but crucially it's missing John Williams' symphony music in the background that was in the background in the Hoth battle in Shadows of the Empire, which took it to another level and put you in the action in the movie!
@@camptube7621 Have it on GC still and play on Wii U, can't tell you the number of times I've been on one of the last passes and slammed into the AT-AT's head.
Less depth than Battlefront 2 overall, removal of classes, butchering of the vehicle system (Tokens, really?) butchering of Hero system (again, tokens?), no gameplay variety, and plagued with DLC which should've been in the game at the start minus Rogue One. No galactic conquest, their Instant Action is horrible, every update brings about more bugs than fixes. No modding support.... I can name more.
While you are correct about this. I do personally belive that the game is worth it, if you are a star wars fan. It honestly has to do with what peoples personal preferences is. You might not like it, that's fine. While i think EA/Dice could've done better, it still is a good game for what it is. Also the Hero system. Perhaps they have made the Hero Token system to sort of like.. Once you are playing as a hero it's going to feel magical, special. In SWBF2 It felt sort of magical to begin with, but once you start messing everyone up, you get hero after hero 1 min after another, makes it sort of boring, you know..? That's just my theory.
Really sad how a game from 2001 captures what Star Wars fans actually want better than a battlefront game in 2015 after waiting like 10 years for a battlefront sequel. And on top of all of that, battlefront 2 was even worse. Sad.
All they needed was to make this or orginal battle front with modern graphics . Did you guys ever see the orginal battlefront 3 we never got ..you could fly from ground to space in battle
I do wish they could have gotten Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and James Earl Jones to voice their characters... At the very least use audio clips from the movies...
That N64 Rogue Squadron was my favorite because the settings were unique and scorimg wasnt as strict. you lose as many lives as you wanted and it didn't hurt your score
I really don't understand how this looks so frickin good. My computer is more than capable of playing both GameCube and Wii games (and I just started to venture into PS2) but for some reason THIS game and its sequel are REALLY difficult to play correctly. It stutters and looks choppy at times. It isn't even close to this quality.
I want this to be rereleased on switch so bad! Anyone else ever finish this mission without the X-Wing so you can see the Snowspeeder fly away in the ending cut scene?
please give me a step by step instruction on what exactly you set your settings to. I've been trying for years and nothing stops the horrible stuttering
The only Star Wars game I have seen in which TIE Bomber throught bombs like "Empire Strikes Back", to down, and not to front like many others Star Wars games.
They got the original actor for Wedge to reprise his role in this game, but in the problem was that in-universe he was supposed to be like, 20 by this point, but it had been nearly 20 years since Empire Strikes Back came out by the time this came around. He sounds much older here than he did in the movies because of that.
Star Wars Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike they aren't sequel, both game take places during the same event, later and prior, the N64 Rogue Squadron is only six month after losing the Yavin base & moving every rebel fleet and supply to Hoth.

The processor might be letting you down a little. Its not bad by any means but emulation requires a lot of CPU power. If there is anyway to reduce the resolution. That may help you. Of course though, it will make the game look worse.
I don't get it why around 6:00 the last snow speeders don't get the command to take down that last AT-AT because they can save way more rebels that way
