I was wondering about the no jewelry rule in f1. Were you wearing your wedding ring when you had your accident and would that have caused the more severe injury to that hand? 🙂🇨🇦

He actually said that he has less burns on the area where he was wearing it. So it kind of protected that area of skin.

My father had a workplace accident and he was on fire. First degree burns on his forehead, neck, and left hand. Second degree on his right hand. I saw your crash live and it was horrific, I’m so happy you made it out, and seeing these injuries and the pain he’s going through also reminded me of you and what you have gone through. I’m glad my father and you are still alive.
The crazy thing is he acts like the Bahrain crash was nothing and all of us are like🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Burns are probably the worst injury to have to live with. It's good that he seems to be in good spirits about it, and obviously that his injuries weren't more severe in the first place.

I met him at the INDY 500 and he was just so pleasant to be around, he is very nice and calm. One of the nicest drivers I ever met.

I met him and drove him in the pre race parade for the Long Beach Grand Prix. He’s very polite and has no problem talking to you. Hopefully I’ll get to do the same next year!

The big crash was extremely scary and potentially deadly. Glad you got out in time, at first it looked like it was impossible for anyone to have survived
You didnt need to recover from the burns, the people who helped u needed to recover from the trauma of a living campfire walking towards them, even on the video that guy was fvcking horrified

It could be just skin sensitivity that could be managed with moisture coverage to aid skin repair
I had the same burns on the same place on the hand and it took me 5 months to recover and 3 years for full recovery, first months are hell because you have to moisturize the wounds everyday and change the bandage everyday and the burning feels the same but in “wound pain” not burning pain

Get a dirt bike or quad to practice ride to increase the circulation in your hands. Or use a airdyne style stationary bike. Swimming is also very good cross training I noticed after swimming to get over a street bike pick up crash I could sprint a little faster.

Never seen this crash just saw it, my guy is a miracle, holy schmoly, only burn hands to a certain degree, when you see the full crash video, you didn't know if he was gonna make that out alive
He walked away with second degree burns on his hands only. Made a full recovery which is incredible.

You know safety has evolved when the most tame injury you sustained was being burned in the hands while sitting in a ball of fire and trapped between a barrier.

Insane that you're still doing racing considering when skin grafting happens you can't sweat in that spot anymore so the sweat gets channeled to the outside of where the skin is alive must get sweaty in gloves
