  • In the Winter of 1777 the Continental Army was in precarious position. The British had soundly beaten them during the Philadelphia Campaign and now held the Colonial Capitol. The next 6 months would see them encamped in the Pennsylvania Countryside where they would face difficulty after difficulty and the near dissolvement of the entire American cause. But strife causes growth, and their time here at Valley Forge would be the considered the birth of the American Army. They would emerge a new force, capable of standing up to the might of the British empire.
But how did they manage to survive the harshness of Winter? What happened to them to cause such a transformation?
