Step by step process to help build your own fireplace entertainment center surround #DIY #entertainmentcenter #fireplacesurround #customwoodwork #carpentry
Kool.. appreciate the content..no menards here in atlanta..im studying your entertainment center build as a guide for mine. This video gives extra insight into that..thx again
Very good video. I'm making something similar. It was helpful to show the lumber tags at Menards and Kreg Jig packaging in the video. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I just formed an LLC and am getting requests for built ins. What dimension did you use for the sides of the cabinets and shelves? It looked like 1/2” but wasn’t sure. I love the idea of the skin on the shelf sides. Thank you again for the video. ✌🏼
What dimensions did you use for the bookshelf? 12" Deep shelves? It looks like you used 3/4" sides with 1/2" MDF boards on the outside with a 1/4" inside offset? That sound about right? Great work. I'm working on something similar now. I love the video. Hope Cash is doing good.
I really enjoyed this video. Way above my skill level. I am a finish guy so I do painting etc but I want to get more into this type of work. Curious what the ballpark is on cost? Materials I am guessing around $1000. And I would assume this unit ran around 8-10K after all said and done.
Hey Jon. You’re almost right on with costs. I believe when this build happened the material cost was around $2000. Lumber, fasteners, glue, blades, hinges, drawer hardware, pvc, primer, paint. This was of course before the inflation so I would think more now. Overall coat I believe was 8k. Now it would be more from 9-10.
Great video, Dan! I'm going to be building something very similar and this video is incredibly helpful. Quick question, what paint did you use, primer and main coat? The paint I've used on my trim is kinda tacky and I don't want to use that on the shelves.
Thanks so much, Im glad i could help... I use bin primer, and ilva paint with a hardener additive. I get it at JC Lichts in my area. I spray both. Both of these can be sprayed or rolled with a foam roller... Obviously the spray is going to get you a much better finish. An alternative would be going with Emerald from sherwin williams, the Urethane version. Good luck with your project.
Thanks! And thanks for the sub! Correct, I put a backer there because they were storing large items in the cabinet that would’ve been difficult with a center stile.
Hey, just came across your channel. Video's very informative - got a new subscriber here! One question: what's the name of the hinges you've used for the cabinet doors?
Hi and thanks for a positive comment. So lovely. Here’s a link to a hinge you can get from Home Depot. This is a 1/2” overlay soft close hinge. www.homedepot.com/p/Blum-COMPACT-Series-35-mm-Spring-Closing-1-2-in-Overlay-for-Face-Frame-Cabinet-Wrap-around-Hinge-2-Pack-BP38N35508180S/202212165
Yo I just want to let you know that I think you’re the man what are you doing is amazing work straight up inspiring Is there anyway that I could reach out to you as a young man who is also self-employed I don’t have many people to ask questions to
Thanks so much man!!! That was nice to read. You can Facebook message me. Danny Rick Rick on Facebook. If that doesn’t work. Let me know on here and I’ll figure out a different option.
I appreciate your concern and I’d like to assure you I wouldn’t pray for a fire if I built some cabinets or not. The mantle and casing on the sides were actually existing and installed by the builder which obviously passed inspection. From what I understand the cabinets on the sides I built, are well over 12” from the firebox which passes code. If you could school me on this subject I’d love to hear your reasoning. Further education is a necessity for a business owner. Thanks.
this was fabulous. learned so much. thank you for showing us wood selections too!
@@kimbanyc hey thanks for the nice comment. Glad to help.
Dan you made this look so easy .Turned out super Cherry , GOOD Job .
Thanks very much for the kind words.
*Nice job, New friends here. I look forward to hear from you Ken Save this to my Personal playlist*
Thanks again Ken.
Thanks for the video. I’ve watched it many time to help me do a large 14.5 foot wide entertainment center.

No Menards?? Hopefully there’s a lumber yard close to you where you can get these materials. I’m glad I could help. Good luck with the project.
@@DannyRickRick @aarondixon7, check out imeca in Atlanta. I go there for my lumber, better quality than the HD and Lowes and half the price.
Check out Imeca in Atlanta, their lumber is better quality and half the price to the Depot de Casa and Lowes.
Love this video!!! Awesome job too.
This imperial system is crazy. Whole numbers are so much easier.
Metric is all whole numbers?!!
@@DannyRickRick yes. No fractions. Go by millimetres which are very accurate.
I appreciate your videos ! 🙏🏼
I appreciate you watching. 😀

Very helpful video, thanks!
Good work. I love it
Looks good, is there a reason why you left a gap between the brick fireplace and the cabinet? Why not put a piece of trim there instead?
I’m not sure I don’t remember. But it probably had something to do with fire code and minimum distance for combustible materials.

Hey Danny, great video how long does it takes to build each?
This job might’ve taken a little more than 2 weeks
@@DannyRickRick great Dan, thanks! I wish to have a mentor like you! Keep up with the good work 👍🏼
Keep it up even if it’s quick 2-4 min videos.
Thanks for the motivation. I Appreciate it.

Correct on everything!! Thanks so much and I hope your project turns out great. Cash is doing fantastic 😀😀.
This is what I want
Welp. You should get one then. 😀

I am looking to build built ins too! but I want to use prefabricated cabinets to save time. Any advice?
What would you like to know? If you’re buying pre fab cabinets there’s not much to say
Nice work. New sub. Quick question…why the backer board on the cabinet door? Just so you can’t see through the gap between the doors?
Thanks! And thanks for the sub! Correct, I put a backer there because they were storing large items in the cabinet that would’ve been difficult with a center stile.

What's the cost of this? I'm looking to do similar. Thanks.
Can you tell me around how much was this in materials ??
About what would one expect to pay for something like shown in the video
Hello. About 8-10k depending on wood used, paint quality and time of year and how much inflation is up on materials.
Ok thank you very reasonable. You do really nice work
@@robertkuzak9311 thank you
What did you do about those 4 ,what look to be structural, 2x4 you murdered?
They were 2x6s. You can take as much as 40% out and still be considered structural. I took an 1 1/2”. Made the 2” pipe flush with the 1/2” rock.
Look... This is against NFPA codes for combustible materials near the firebox... Pray you never have a house fire.
