Loved this. I'm still such a sucker for a good theme on a ride. It makes me quite sad what happened to the Vampire and Bubbleworks rides at Chessington. So glad I got to go on a bunch of Wardley designed attractions when I was a teen!
John Wardley Also Worked On Special Effects For Two Awesome James Bond Movie Masterpieces Live And Let Die In 1973 And Of Course The Man With The Golden Gun In 1974 And Which Is My All Time Favourite James Bond Movies Of All Time. My Name Is Bond. James Bond. Thanks Mate. X
40:37 Mr. Wardley, the fruity smells conjured in that damp, exciting air of Professor Burp's Bubbleworks will live in people's memories for the rest of their lives
This is so interesting, he really brought the nest theming to the park in a very awesome way. It was wonderful when Katanga canyon and Forbidden Valley were new. No other themed area has compared since.
God John if only you could see Alton Towers today and how far it has come. Oh ... you CAN!!!! YESSSSS!!!!! (If you ever see this I still want my cross valley coaster, maybe use something quiet instead of wood, coz you have an amazing woodie now, like a Mack that could even weave through trees with launches - Imagine ICON at alton towers but with spinning cars maybe and through the valley and connect forbidden valley to dark forest coaster-wise, itd feel like the big one does in terms of length - the theme is the journey)
"a family of 4 will spend £40 to £50 on a day at chessington - that includes the fuel" Fast forward a few decades - £50 entry per person, fuel £1.80 a litre and nearly all of John Wardleys magic gone 😩😩
@@louiswright8282 hopefully merlin carry on with the improvements they're doing currently - retracking nemesis, jumanji at chessington, etc - I feel like their greed outways any good work still currently
lmao you havent experienced true hailstone unless on rita. 25 seconds of absolute pain! feels kile your face is being peeled off with all your nervs constantly lit up with pain!

Agree ☺️
Wardley absolute legend if it weren't for him I wouldn't be a rollercoaster enthusiast
100% 💪👍👍👍
John wardley is the goat at designing rollercoasters and I really hope John burton will be able to be one of the bests in the uk
I’d say Alan Schilke is the goat of coasters
I just finished his first book - which lead me here! What a top bloke.
Hello There, thank you for uploading this Documentary, it's much appreciated. Cheers Peter :)

And now we've lost The Haunted House... is Towers even worth visiting outside of Hex and the Secret weapons anymore?

Does anyone know where I can watch the discovery channel show that John talks about in his book?
39:08 Professor Burp's Bubbleworks!
Miss it!
@@AttractionSource Speaking of which, I hope to see British Theme Park Archive's new documentaries on it and Toyland Tours.
35:28 "OH SHUT UP"
He Designed Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm
He really said "Sir Emilly Alton"
Not to be confused, of course, with 'Sir Emily Eavis.'
If he wasn't there then nemesis would be a whole lot different it might of never been nemesis actually

Half finished Tescos 😂
