    These are so good. My first time ever making tamales and they were a hit. The salsa was amazing. Can’t wait to make chicken verde enchiladas with that chicken and salsa combo. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe queen.

      Howdy. I've always added some sauce to my masa whether red or green. It does up the flavor. I do like the flavor of just the cornmeal with the seasonings in it. It's all good!

    Last Saturday evening I had the BEST chicken tamales I've ever eaten at a church Christmas dinner. I don't know who made them, so I came here looking for a recipe so I could replicate them myself. Your recipe looked the best, so I went to Cardenas last night to buy everything and they were out of masa. Gonna get it early today because it sells out so fast. If my test tamales come out even close to good, I'll make a big batch for our annual family Christmas Eve gathering. I'm sure they will be great. I like how you simmered your chicken in the sauce rather than adding the sauce to the chicken in the corn husk. It makes for a moister chicken. Also by adding sauce to the masa I'm sure the flavor is much better. Thank you for taking the time to post your recipes.

      @uh They were actually pretty good. It was a lot of work and I had to buy a big pot made and sold just for tamales. I have only made them one time, but as with anything I cook, I'm sure they will improve each time I make them. Like I said, they were a lot of work, but will be less work with practice. I encourage anyone to make these tamales. The instructions were straightforward and easy to understand.

Depending on the meat, I will add the broth to the masa and makes it flavorful too. I also appreciate your video in English so I could share with non-spanish speaking friends. Hello
      Pasilla chiles also know as Poblanos are not spicy.
      Jalapeños mild
      Serrano spicy
      My son doesn’t eat spicy that’s why I only add few Serrano peppers so it would be spicy.

    I never knew you could buy masa preparada para tamales. That's the most important part of the tamale. I have been trying for the longest for someone to teach me but all they ever do is tell me and I'm more of a visual learner. Hopefully I can find the masa. Da

      Yes you can find it at any Mexican market. Not sure where u live but
      Cárdenas,el súper, superior, Vallarta, Northgate market, amapola They usually have them where they make their own tortillas. They usually have them pre-packed around this time of the year or you can ask them.

    Nice job! Ok..so you don't add lard or anything else to the prepared masa other than what's here? Do you do both bags or one?

    • @letscookthat6537
      @letscookthat6537  3 роки тому

      Hello
      I didn’t add No lard because prepared masa already comes with lard. I used 5 pounds of masa for 3 dozens I have a list of all my ingredients with measurements in the description box. Thank you for watching & happy Holidays..

    I can’t wait to try this! I don’t eat any pork though, so I was wondering if the prepared dough has any pork lard in it? :-/ Is there a way for me to make the dough without the lard?

    • @letscookthat6537
      @letscookthat6537  4 роки тому

      Hello
      If you buy the masa prepared for tamales yes it has pork, but you can buy masa for tamales not prepared and you can add oil,salt,1 tablespoons of baking powder per pound and the same broth that you cook your chicken u can use it to knead the masa. Thank you for watching.

    Wow it looks like your husks are all large. I always end up with packages where i have maybe two dozen nice size ones, but the rest are small. How do I use those? Should I invest in kitchen string if I have to combine small husks? Thank you.

      Hello
      When you have small corn husk. you put 2 together overlapping side by side to make one.

    Hello. I just found your recipe. I made them exactly how you made them and they didn’t come out well. You didn’t mention any lard. Did you add some to the masa? I did buy the masa preparada. If not, can you tell me if I should add some and how much please. The flavor of the chicken was amazing!!!!

    • @letscookthat6537
      @letscookthat6537  3 роки тому

      Hello I am so sorry to hear that I usually just buy masa preparada. I do not add any lard. When the masa is not spreadable I just add some broth to make it easy to spread. Sometimes if they over cook your masa can become dry.
      I know my moms always say just because where you buy masa from because not every place has good masa preparada. Once again I’m so sorry 😢 to hear that.

    I absolutely loved and enjoyed this recipe. Finally a recipe that’s not so intimidating for me since I’ll be making them for my first time this December. At what temperature did you cook them on? Also how many pounds of masa did you actually end up using for these tamales 5pounds or 10 pounds?

      Hello yes it easy and yummy 😋 I used 5 pounds of masa gives you 3 dozens Don’t forget all the ingredients are listed in the description box so it can be easier for you to screenshot. And i cook them on medium heat for 1 hour or 1hr & 20 minutes until the masa comes off the corn husk. Thank you for watching.
