- Headed out for a quick stealther in the highway median. It was a nice drive just outside of the city and I managed to find the perfect place. Set up the hammock for a good night of hunkering down. Lots of traffic but was still a decent sleep!

I have always wanted to do this, for whatever strange reason,
Just to do it. Great video👍

Glad I’m not the only one...take the dog for a walk in my own neighborhood and find myself thinking, “Hmmm...I bet I could camp in that little corner of the park...”
mark 1222 so do I.
I'm with you, dunno why 😁

Fact of the day: 50% of apparent Canadian Bigfoot sightings are actually Steve Wallis urban stealth camping
Rick D And in Local news.... Bigfoot sightings are up 100,000% in and around Edmonton AB; which locals say answers to “Step 2 Steve?”
This made me laugh pretty hard.
Lol

LOL, beat me to the Bigfoot joke!
When I pass over culverts as the sun sets on a long day, I like to think Steve is under there, nestled in a cozy shelter cooking himself a pizza quesadilla over a Coleman heater.
or a sausage broccoli alfredo pasta
He is. Every time. He's not a man so much as a natural spontaneous phenomenon that develops in culverts.
Pizzadilla
I saw that one! When that car parked on top of it, I thought he was caught.

I came back to watch old episodes to support the channel. Jess gave over a million people Camping with Steve. We are forever grateful.
I'm so new to the channel, I unfortunately found it just days before the news, but I keep getting recommended his videos and they're always fun. This is the first one where it appears Jess is involved (holding the camera), so I'm kind of feeling this one a bit :/
Who?
@@ClaytonWillisMusic He's always alone in the videos.
@@ClaytonWillisMusic was holding it in the car.. jeez you guys have to argue everything
@@ClaytonWillisMusic It was clear that Beautiful Wife was holding the camera in the car at the start of the video since both of Steve's arms & hands are in frame & on the steering wheel, and it was obvious that that is what the other person was referring to (since it's the only part where it happens). You incorrectly said she wasn't holding the camera, maybe you didn't notice or missed that part or forgot, which is fine. However, when several people corrected you, instead of double checking, you kept arguing that you were right when you're not. Chill.
He never just says wife, he always says beautiful wife. What a guy.
😭
I met Jess and she was a very beautiful lady. Steve is an awesome person!!!!
Always thinking of Steve and Jess.
When I read the title I visualized Steve laying in a sleeping bag on the ground in a 2 meter (6,7 foot) wide median.
Lmao
Me too
Same and I was somewhat disappointed
I think that was the intent of what the people wanted to see.
Kautsky1000 Haha so did I 😂.... that would’ve been great!
"... Don't take this as a instructional channel by any stretch. It's barely even entertainment." LMAO, sir. It's DEFINITELY entertainment! Pretty instructional too.
Yessah
This was my thought
More entertainment not much instructional dudes fire making skills is sub par nonetheless
Perfection!
Well he got the fire going so he can't be that bad!
We always talk about what a legend Steve is, but I think we can all agree beautiful wife was the real legend. “Honey can you drive me two hours out of town and drop me off in a highway Median to camp” “Sure” , “honey I’m going to make a raft and go on a week long camping trip with crazy neighbor” “sounds like a plan”. “I know we just got married and all, but mind if we camp for a month and I film it?” “Pure romance, I’m in”, and last but not least, “darn it I lost my lucky boon-docking sweater” “about that…”
Certainly awesome to have a partner that not only doesn't mind your hobbies and/or odd ways...but supports them! I would say that's the exception to the rule unfortunately...beautiful wife is the best! 😉
Such a sad and unfortunate thing to hear. I’m so sorry for your loss Steve.. I know you don’t want to say it, but you know what I mean when I say it. They lied.

Nearly 20 years ago I stealth camped my way through Europe most time in France and Italy it was awesome. Was cycling around, just park up and camp. Funniest thing when I got caught a few times the people nearly always offered shelter or food. Awesome memories.
It's a little harder to find people like that today.
24 years ago, when I got lost in France because my youth group gave me the wrong directions for day 2 of 3 of our outdoor "bike and hike" the police dumped me at this kind woman's house, who i couldn't speak to very well, because she knew a bit more English than the officer, and my French was middle school limited. I showed her my camping gear, but she insisted on me using the bed inside the guest room. The next morning I was then arrested, handcuffed and driven into town, released from the handcuffs and put on a bus. I arrived at the final check point 14 hours too early. My bike and equipment arrived 3 hours after I did. And a new city officer waited with me until the youth leader arrived and filled out the paperwork. Most of my friends joked that I broke the speed limit because of my extremely fast finishing time.
To this day I still don't know why they cuffed me on my escort to the bus. I was a young teen, who just got separated from my group. I thought I behaved well, but maybe the language barrier caused something I said to be offensive. IDK.
@macomegaly5116 way more exciting than anything that happened when I was cycling around Europe lol
@@outdoor75 well I'm partly to blame, because I got ahead of everyone and was working with the incorrect data. So I don't know where I lost them but it was at least an hour searching for the third landmark that didn't exist in the direction I was traveling before I knew I was in trouble. (One landmark was a fork in the road, and the other was a sign pointing towards Paris. Slightly too common landmarks. Lol) At that point I realized that I didn't have the information for how to get to the next point, and even if I turned around there wasn't anyone left behind to try and follow. I had water, food and my camping gear so I was going to survive the night but I didn't have a cell phone back then. And I abandoned my partner who hated my guts. So I ended up going to the nearest village and flagged down the officer.
I could say "I don't speak French." "My name is Mac". And "where is the library?", (Because that phrase made me laugh.) As well as count to 10. I would have been doomed, if I didn't also have a sheet of paper that explains the group I was with and my destination pre typed out in French.
@@Mac_OmegalyLuckily you had that pre-printed paper at least!!
@@johnwayne3904 Absolutely. I don't think it would have been too long before I was returned to England since I had my return ticket in my wallet too... I never went ahead of the group again, but our group also never left England again because of this event. XD

More like the bob ross of camping
As somebody who has spent a bit of time partially homeless and had to spend some nights in my car in areas I wasn't supposed to be, you can never be too careful. I once got busted by an employee at a Walmart because I'd left a set of footprints in the snow going out and back from my car when I had to "use the facilities" as Steve would say.
My older brother , who was just hit by a car and killed in FLA traveled all over the United States. He traveled by thumb , he stayed in the woods between interstate roads . He had places all over this country . From coast to coast and from Maine to old Mexico. It was how he liked to live . Worked mostly in day labor jobs , but he knew so many places to camp right beside the road and not be seen. He lived on the road and died on the road. 76 and still had a duffle bag on his back . Never would use a back pack. Duffle bag only. But he stepped in a cars path and he left this world doing what made him happy . R I.P. Larry

I once knew a homeless man in Pittsburgh who often camped on the side of highways. His trick for not being bothered while walking along the roadway was to wear a Hi-Vis vest and a cheap hard hat he bought at the Goodwill for $2.
People driving along just assumed he was working nearby on the highway.
Funny how if you look like you belong, so very few people will ever question you. Back in my youth when I had less to lose on several occasions I wandered around in more than a few places with either a clipboard or a hard-hat or both. Add a collared shirt and a couple of pens in the pocket...
I was so used to my presence never being questioned that the first time it happened I was like a deer in the headlights even though I was actually supposed to be there.

I lived behind a Walmart for about a year in about 5 acres of woods. Made a hotch out of pallets and a tarp. Was a Chinese restaurant down the road gave me a big wok that had a hole in it i used for a fire...pit? It wasn't too bad exept when it rained for like a week straight.
I once lived in a Walmart, only reason why it was no trouble is because it was a 24 hour one, lol. Nothing like having your own restaurant in house, I mean a Subway and even an auto care center even though I didn’t have a car, LOL.
This reminds me so much of being a kid. We were sort of a "different" family in that we would camp in similar situations. It was my mom, her BF and myself and we watched a LOT of military/navy seal documentary type videos. My favorite was sneaking into a golf course near our hometown, Sea-Tac WA. We'd all dress up in clothing from the military surplus, sometimes even wearing camo paint on our faces. The goal was to sneak into the course, unnoticed, and spend the night camping in much the way the military does. At the crack of dawn we'd wake up, quietly gather up our things and sneak out before the groundskeepers saw us. More than once we were within 20ft of the workers and they had no idea. Nowadays that's probably a good way to get yourself shot but, man, were those trips a blast. I was 8 to 11 years old and I loved the excitement.
LOL this is amazing.
Zack plot twist- they were actually Russian spies and he just grew up thinking it was a game. “ we were sort of a different family” 👈 seeeee 👀.. hahah just kidding just kidding. I would have loved this as a kid. 🤔 or as an adult.

I think the semi truck driver was trying to say “HONK, HONK, HONKER DOWN!”
I thought this was going to be a cement median in the middle of the highway but this was cool too.
Lmao me too... I was thinking no fcking way is he going to do this lol
I’ve got to say… you are doing what I’ve been dreaming every time I drive down the free way. I see so many nice spots to do this in.
Call his show what ya want, all I know is this man has alot of people paying his step 2 bill ... for life.
Man's not only Canadian but also a genius!
Cheers Steve for all the nights of freezing yer balls off for our entertainment.
👍🍻🇨🇦🥶
I enjoyed having a say in what the next video is, the polls are nice.
“Barely even entertainment”? Take that back. Your videos are some of the very few that I watch all the way through with no breaks. Great to see your average dude getting out and having a night out.
Thanks! I do wonder sometimes why people watch haha, I sit there editing it thinking nobody would possibly watch this one. Cheers!!!
@@campingwithsteve They are very relaxing, and pretty fascinating. The stealth camp videos have that little thrill factor while not being too much, it has everything!
@@campingwithsteve Because it's genuine. I don't think it needs to be any more complicated than that. Seeing other people enjoy the simple comforts that we all are craving in the world right now, honestly and simply. Keep doing it.

Yes they are super relaxing inhave anxiety and not gonna lie watching you helps you are out there enjoying nature
When this is all over im gonna start camping like you. Great channel
I watch his videos and pretend I'm gonna do the same thing.
My 8 person family camps alot, sometimes the "rain on a tent" videos are the only videos that can keep me asleep through the night.
Thank you for these videos, Steve. I'm in Texas, and I watch every one.
I legit just love watching you do little things like this. It's so inspiring to just enjoy those basics
I'm an avid hammock camper here in Sweden and just recently found your channel! Love your content, I'm too cowardly to camp in urban spaces but I sometimes get a rush watching you do it, haha! I'm drying my hair watching this so I have captions on, and it kept showing [applause] for the highway sounds which I thought was hilarious. Keep up the good work!!
LOL he got so excited when a train started whistling. What a genuine dude.
“Strangely alone and uncertain right now”... perfect words for these current times. Thanks again for posting Steve 👍
My best friend is Jesus Christ and He will never leave me nor forsake me ....
One would have to wonder if Steve is really the “crazy neighbor”!?
Steve is to stealth camping videos as Les Stroud is to survival vids. He has created the genre.
Any story that starts with, "I had just been fired from my job at the cemetery, which is where I met my wife." is going to be good.
Yes, we need to hear that.
Stephen King would like that intro for sure!
Was your Beautiful wife alive or dead when you met her!
wedding crashers funeral scene?
Spends the night in highway median - calls neighbor 'crazy'.
Beautiful wife drops him off, laughs all the way home.
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha that's a good one! It's all subjective I guess.
I know, I said that too and the last time!
So interesting to see you sitting there, in front of the campfire, while watching the cars and trucks go zooming by on the highway. You're the Man, Steve!!!
I love watching you Steve!! You really help me relax!! Thanks 😊🙏☮
"dont take this as an instructional channel, its barely even entertainment" hahahaha hilarious! i do find your videos entertaining, though!
I also loved that line 😂.... But Steve is selling himself short. These videos are entertaining and instructional. Instructing us to go enjoy the world and our lives whenever and however, even if it’s found in the median of a highway.
@@AS-ie4yv Totally agree! Steve's our camping inspiration hero!
That was a great line, delivered in classic deadpan fashion.
John Jones As do I!
How do you get a red icon and I'm stuck with green
Carried off in the dead of night by giant Canadian Median Beavers...that's no way to die man...no way to die...
What if they make him Beaver King?
@@GeneralZapta213 then we're probably talking EMPIRE!!
@@GeneralZapta213 lol ikr that would hilarious
@@GeneralZapta213 I thought he was already the beaver king...
Hahahaha
Thanks William
I can’t put my finger on why that made me laugh so hard but it did.
This is one of my favorite "camping with Steve" videos! I love it when he mentions Beautiful Wife and Crazy Neighbor. What a wonderful memory!
I sometimes see a nice open spot in the trees and tall grasses and feel compelled to just go sit there for a bit and enjoy nature’s beauty....I think I was a deer in my previous life. I totally get it, just wander from one sweet spot to another just enjoying being there.
Crazy neighbor is also a " Crazy Great Friend" be willing to drive and pick you up.
Nothing quite like the peace and quiet of a highway median
LOL!
@@balton6978 ear plugs lol
Daniel P Plus the occasional train I the night.
lol
We are all that trucker that honked at Steve.
I was hoping to find the trucker in the comments saying, "that was me!"
Same, did you find it? I haven’t:(
I smile every time Steve says the word beaver. It's like that word has a permanent exclamation point when he says it. I'm not canadian but I always get excited when i see beaver signs
Looks like more than adequate social distancing to me. Probably safer than anywhere in town. Thank you for sharing the “normal”.
Except for the part where he got a ride from a neighbor?
Remy Lebeau lol true
