“Maybe I’m Amazed” was first released on his 1970 debut solo album “McCartney”. Not live but from Paul’s home studio. Playing ALL the instruments, magnificently.
when he was first forming wings he had the members over for dinner (as told by one of the band members), when after the meal he suddenly says "oh shoot ,i forgot i need to write a song for a movie by tomorrow, ill be right back" they could hear him tinkering on the piano. 5 min later he comes back "all done" the song was 'live and let die' for the james bond film!
Paul and Linda were more than that. They were the most genuine couple ever. I don't care much about celebrity romances but I cried for Paul when his lovely Linda passed away. Their love was oh so special. Cheers to you.
The studio version is definitely much finer, but I do think he did a pretty darn good job live too, & I usually do cringe at live versions (in comparison)!
@@SpotWorksLNC I've never thought about this point of view, I listened the album version, more magical and deep, so instantly I go for that and I get the pont!
Studio is better because it feels more genuine. Paul M & Wings are great live but but between making sure the audience is entertained and the amount of times the song has been performed before small intimate songs like this lose something.
The studio version from the album, Paul played all of the instruments. He actually recorded it before the Beatles broke up, but he used the opportunity of the press release for that album to announce that he was leaving the Beatles. John said he was leaving first privately, but never made the official announcement. Paul made it official.
Yes, Paul announced the breakup publicly so he was blamed for the breakup. In actuality, he wanted the Beatles to continue and perhaps perform live again. By 1969,1970, PA system technology had advanced significantly. So, screaming fans would not have drowned out the band. George had no interest in ever performing live as a Beatle. John wanted to do projects with Yoko rather than the Beatles. I think Ringo would’ve gone along with whatever the others wanted to do. Paul actually went into a depression due to the demise of the Beatles.
Love all of Paul's work with the Beatles & solo with Wings. I had so many of his records. He has so many great songs such as "Band On The Run", "Jet", "Live & Let Die", "Listen To What The Man Said", "Silly Love Songs", "Let 'Em In", "My Love", "Helen Wheels", "Let Me Roll It", "Junior's Farm", "Venus & Mars/Rock Show", "Mull Of Kintyre", "With A Little Luck" etc.
@Bars% Barbells- The Beatles are the greatest group to ever live and I am a huge fan of them. Paul was always my fav Beatle and have always been a fan of his solo work. Thanks so much for Doing Maybe I'm Amazed. Its one of my fav songs ever. Highly recommend you check out the music video he did for the song. Paul also showed his high pitch raspy kind of bluesy voice in Beatle songs Hey Jude and Oh Darling.
The reason Sir Paul & other stars with long careers are still kicking, is because they change with the times. You can tell when these songs were made, throughout his career. I was 10 & sitting on the living room floor when the Beatle's made their US debut on the Ed Sullivan. They were HUGE & remained so as their music evolved with the times, until they outgrew one another. They all had something to say & needed their own platforms to do it. And as sad I was when the Beatles broke up, we still got some great music from John & George before they passed & Paul is still touring. Plans to tour Australia & Brazil In October, November & December & the man is 81! Amazeballs!
This was from his mid-70s Wings Across America tour that turned into a double album. This footage was released much later. The show was the first time we’d seen him in a long time. Voice was great! His use of lasers during the show stopper, Live and Let Die, was groundbreaking for the time. On the original recording, I’m pretty sure, he plays all the instruments
I grew up with the Beatles, saw them the first they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, I was 7 with my sister and one of our cousins. So, for me there has always been Paul McCartney. Went with family and saw their first movie "A Hard Day's Night" in a theater that is no longer there. What a trip it has been for all of us old enough to remember.
Paul was 33 years old when this concert took place in 1976. This live version was released as a single from the album Wings Over America and went to #10 on the charts.
this was recorded and the Kingdome in seattle in early June 1976. I was standing about 30 feet from the stage. The Wings At The Speed of Sound tour. Fantastic show!!
actually this song does appear as a studio version on the album which garnered moderate success. however when the live album 'wings over America ' (from which this video is taken) was released in '75 from the '74 tour . the live version ,which again is even different from the video release smashed the charts .it sored to #1 in just a few weeks or less, hard to remember now . for months it played on every rock ,pop, adult contemporary station in the U.S. I had never even heard the studio version until about 8 yrs ago. side note; his first couple of albums post beatles the band Wings hadnt been formed yet. he played every instrument on every song by himself! thats the kind of talent we're talking about.
I was in Southern California for a funeral when I heard the news about Linda’s passing. I also remember I was on the way to work when I heard George Harrison passed. Two sad days for me.
My 2 favorite Paul McCartney songs are "Maybe I'm Amazed" & "Mull of Kintyre." But he has many more that I love, too. His music has definitely been on the soundtrack of my life since I was 8 years old; I'm now 68.
Right after this album came out, my husband & I got into an argument before I went to work. When I walked in after work, ready to finish the argument, there was my musician husband playing g & singing this song. All was forgiven.
Paul McCartney and Wings. One of my favorite songs of all time. Paul plays a killer piano on this one! Glad yinz folks are enjoying this one! ❤from Pittsburgh Pa. area! 👍👍🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
A love story for the ages! Their love was a wonder to behold. My heart aches at the thought of Paul having to watch his love fade away at the hands of cancer. 😢
All of the instruments in this song, were played and recorded separately by Paul, using different tracks, and then mixed together. Not only is he a great song writer, but he is also an accomplished musician on many different instruments besides Bass guitar. Oh yeah, he can also sing a little bit.
Love the reaction! Do a deeper dive into The Beatles and you’ll hear the grittier McCartney vocals. And Wings. His range his ridiculous! (Not to mention he played all the instruments on the albums McCartney l, which this is from in 1970, McCartney ll (1980) and McCartney lll (2020!) There will never be another McCartney 🫶🏽
Good reaction guys. Just my two cents worth and take it with a grain of salt. You should always react to the studio version 1st just to experience exactly what it was that made people fall in love with the song, and then go back and explore the live versions. Keep up the good work.
It’s worth mentioning, though, if you’re looking for “what made people fall in love with the song”, the live version was the single, and a major hit. The original studio version, several years earlier, was not.
This was a couple years before WINGS was formed. This is a solo album, written and performed (all instruments) by Paul. He does the same process for McCartney 1, 2, and 3 and RAM. After RAM he formed WINGS.
Remember McCartney was still in his late 20's. The incredible thing is the Beatles were all still in their twenties when they split up. Think about that for a moment. its rather mind blowing.

Some great Paul McCartney tunes (primary writer, lead vocals) with the Beatles are "And I Love Her," "Yesterday," "Eleanor Rigby," "Let it Be," and "The Long and Winding Road" just to name a few. Also, he does a very raspy voice in "Oh Darlin'."
Awesome reaction guys... It's a love song for sure... Paul is super talented... like John, George and Ringo... no wonder they were such a power house group... This song is from his first solo album before Wings where he played all of the instruments including drums, keyboards, all guitars, etc! His wife sings backup with him!

Paul McCarthy and Wings had so many hits, their Greatest CD required a 2 CD set! The love story of Paul and Linda and legendary and tragic. So sad. Paul wrote many songs to Linda. Another….My Love.
This is a live cut from the Wings Over America Rockshow DVD - 1976. So, there is 1) the studio cut from his album (McCartney -1970) then there is 2) this live cut from Rockshow DVD within the limited edition box set of Wings Over America and then 3) there is the live cut from the live album Wings Over America that most people have heard. From 1976 until recently, there was only one live cut of this, but now they released Rockshow which has this live cut from a different night of the Wings Over America tour. I like version 3 the best, but the one they reacted to (#2) is very good and they have it on video. Love the channel!
The first person to leave the Beatles was actually Ringo on the 22nd August 1968 during the making of the White Album, although after a few weeks the others asked him to come back and he did.
This performance was from the WINGS OVER AMERICA TOUR, 1976. April 1976, Easter, I’m an eleven year old beginning drummer and huge Beatles fan. My parents buy me the new Wings album, “Wings At The Speed of Sound” for Easter, too old for Easter baskets. But this album is special, it’s not just Macca who captures my imagination but drummer Joe English. Skip ahead a month. As an early 12th birthday present, my beloved parents gift me with my first concert tickets to see Paul McCartney & Wings, “WINGS OVER AMERICA TOUR” at the Capital Center in Landover, Md. Saturday, May 15,1976. My dad gets off work the evening of Friday the 14th. He drives me and my mom 350 miles that night to my aunt’s house. The next day we go to the arena several hours before the show, so that I may get to meet a member of WINGS, hopefully Joe English. Inside the arena, since I’m small and skinny, my dad holds me up on his shoulders for the entire concert so I don’t miss a second of seeing my early drum idol and a Beatle. I still have the ticket, WINGS “W” t-shirt and program from that show. The greatest show ever and the greatest parents ever. Interesting side note, drummer Joe English, now 74, lives just 200 miles away from me, now 59, here in North Carolina.
I actually saw him on that tour at the kingdom in Seattle. Years later I saw an interview with him, and he was asked when he realized there was musical life after the Beatles. He said, it was the show in Seattle where he felt he could make it solo. It was a fantastic show.
As it has been noted, Paul played all the instruments on this album. Linda(provided only backing vocals) was not really involved in the music, yet. If I recall, this song is about her ability to stick by him and help with his transition from the break-up to his solo career. I can remember riding my bike to the store and waiting for it to open so I could buy the album that this song (which was just released on the radio) was on. Good times! AND, it's Wings, not the Wings! ;)
💯. And also, in terms of The Beatles, Why Don't We Do It It in the Road? and Oh Darling, and if you really want to hear him wail, check out their early single Long Tall Sally. His voice is just so strong and clear but he still brings the rasp when he wants it. It's so good. This had become their closer when they played at that nightclub in Hamburg Germany where they got really really tight. The owner tried to include it in his contract that they could not play it because people would go nuts and tear stuff up. But they always ended up playing it anyway, laugh, and there wasn't much the guy could do about it because they were bringing in so many crowds and so much revenue. I think he even tried to nail the barstools into the wooden floor at one point!
@@barsandbarbells2022 That's too bad, but hopefully you got to listen to it so you know the range he has. Many feel that "Helter Skelter" was the beginning of "metal" rock.
Great reaction guys. Appreciate it. The studio version was released in 1970 on the "McCartney" album. FYI, the guitarist in the white jacket who introduced the song was Jimmy McCulloch. He died in 1979 of a drug and alcohol overdose. The bass player was Denny Laine. He was a founding member of the Moody Blues--another classic band to check out. Keep going with McCartney and The Beatles!
The guy that you said looked so young was "Jimmy McCulloch". On September 27th, 1979, McCulloch was found dead by his brother in his flat in Maida Vale, London. He was blue from exposure. An autopsy found that McCulloch died of heart failure due to morphine and alcohol poisoning. He was 26 years old. The concert film Rockshow, from Wings' 1976 North American tour, was released in late 1980, more than a year after McCulloch's death. “He was always a little dangerous,” Paul McCartney said of the fresh-faced, hard-living guitarist. “In the end, he was just too dangerous for his own good.”
Congratulations for using a live version. Good choice, as they were usually superior to the studio. The lead guitarist started out as a 17 year old protege of Pete Townshend, in a classic one off album ~ Thunderclap Newman - Hollywood Dream. Here he is somewhere around 23-24 years old and playing with an ex-Beatle.
This performance is with Wings as you say. But the song was originally released on McCartney's solo album, "McCartney", where he plays all the instruments on all the songs himself.
What you have here is the best artist to have lived. Better than Dylan, Elvis, Mercury, Wilson, Prince Elton... Put his musical talent and writing and his early days voice and you have a phenomenon that will never be repeated
How beautiful Linda was ❤❤❤❤ she was even a great woman and beautiful person, the Paul's muse, everyone can realize that, when Linda was gone, Paul stop to make so good music 😢😢😢
There are few real music legends today, but Sir Paul is certainly on top. When you look at his entire body of work, 1964-present, it is doubtful it will be duplicated.

when they won with the iconic "Waterloo",
since next year it will be 50th anniversary
and Eurovision will probably take advantage of the fact that the contest is in Sweden
and make a deserved tribute to ABBA)
I wish you a great week
my best regards from
Buenos Aires, Argentina
South America
The first album Paul put out after the Beatles was Ram. It was before Wings,
Paul's first post-Beatles album was McCartney. Ram came afterwards. Wings first album was Wildlife
Paul McCarthy and Wings had so many hits, their Greatest CD required a 2 CD set!
The love story of Paul and Linda and legendary and tragic. So sad.
Paul wrote many songs to Linda. Another….My Love.
A great one guys! BTW that was Linda shown on backup vocals.
To hear Sir Paul really belt, check out, "Call Me Back Again". Great song, also a live version is available.
He was called the cute beatle.
Paul McCartney played all the instruments on this album
On the original album.
Not this album. It’s live from the “Rockshow” movie and Wings Over America live album.
I’m pretty sure you’re referring to studio album.
No I wasn't referring to the live album lol
The first person to leave the Beatles was actually Ringo on the 22nd August 1968 during the making of the White Album, although after a few weeks the others asked him to come back and he did.
You should listen to the Studio version. Paul plays all instruments.
This was the first concert I went to, no other concert came close to this one!
Denny Laine, the Lead Guitarist was the original Lead Singer with the Moody Blues back in 1964 when they had a hit with ‘Go Now’.
"Silly Love Songs" a fav of mine. Plenty of good Wings tunes.
Good times! AND, it's Wings, not the Wings! ;)
Check out Those Were the Days by Mary Hopkin. It was an old Irish folk song that Paul reworked and produced in 1968.
You guys have GOT to do "I've Got a Feeling" from the rooftop concert by The Beatles.
One of Paul's best vocal songs.
If you want to hear Paul McCartney using his raspy voice, listen to the Beatles song "Helter Skelter".
We were planning to upload that but it's blocked by UA-cam so it's a no go unfortunately 😔
Yeah Jimmy was such a good guitarist. Such a shame he died so young, so much promise lost.
Love that screaming SG. RIP Jimmy McCulloch. Gone too soon.
First released / recorded on his solo studio album before he formed Wings.
This performance came years later with Wings.
Eternal flame is another great song from Sir Paul 😊
Interesting that Live and Let Dies writing story. There is a little bit of Live and Let Die in this song. Never noticed that before.
For a split second, I thought Sam had on a Wonder Woman outfit! lol...Gorgeous as ever Sam.
Amazing.
One of my fav's from solo Paul was solely played by Paul If I'm correct. i.e. he played all the instruments on his album
What you have here is the best artist to have lived. Better than Dylan, Elvis, Mercury, Wilson, Prince Elton...
Put his musical talent and writing and his early days voice and you have a phenomenon that will never be repeated
For gritty Macca, Helter Skelter (Beatles) or Monkberry Moon Delight (solo)
As great as people think he is he's even better
How beautiful Linda was ❤❤❤❤ she was even a great woman and beautiful person, the Paul's muse, everyone can realize that, when Linda was gone, Paul stop to make so good music 😢😢😢
Band on the Run is my absolute fav of Paul’s post Beatles career … also outside of Imagine Woman is my fav of John Lennon’s post Beatles career
His song Yesterday is the most covered song of all time. Over 3,000 different artists have covered it
RIP Denny Laine on bass here.
be nice to see you two do reactions to the Beatles as a group and individually
There are few real music legends today, but Sir Paul is certainly on top. When you look at his entire body of work, 1964-present, it is doubtful it will be duplicated.
This was McCartney's first album after he left The Beatles he did not start wings yet he's played all the instruments in this song
