This is really cool. Your parents told you this though? Still really cool but that's a conversation I didn't expect to see on UA-cam. It really is a great conception song! Your parents have grate taste!
Then "Here Comes Sunshine" was quite a quite a title to revive! My stepdaughter's name is Harvest Sunshine (Harvest from Neil Young and Sunshine from Here Comes Sunshine).
Great memories! Danced my ass off in Tempe- coming from the cold mile high weather in Denver- this venue was incredible. Even saw a Texas dragonfly in Tempe (per Jerry) LOL!!!
That ride from Denver was a nailbiter, 1970 VW kombi with no heat in a blizzard, thought we were gonna be te donner party before we made it far enough south. Man. Tjen the the sound check of hcss as we were rollin in.....what I'd give to do it again. ❤✌
My first show after a five-year hiatus personal reasons I want to get into what amazing thing to get to open with your come sunshine true in my life it was after a bunch of rain had befallen and flooded the area and again perfect for the week of the flood here comes sunshine
Was there. Beautiful fuckin afternoon to be alive and in the banda presence. And of all places, Chandler Arizona is where they decided to bust this gem out. Beyond description
12/6/92 (Sun) Here comes sunshine...openerI was at this show. .......arrived the day before the show., but drove 36 hours straight in a blizzard from Denver so got there in Tempe on the night before this show, driving in snow at 20 miles and hour with a72 VW bus Converted to some Camper style Tuned it for performance at high altitude and siliconed the valve adjustment shut. .. we were Sliding in the snow the whole front of the bus would come off the road from the snow piled up we had to have everyone in the front cab to weigh it some in the front to plow its way, COPS Blocked Albuquerque the Bands Equipment truck from Denver had arrive a few hours before the show was to go on Also we went around the with in the west the arrived at Socorro County, made a left and headed to tempe through Fort apache white river ,to Gila National Forest. down to to Tempe AZ , coming down from altitude Our 72 VW Bus was hauling ass at 100 mph ,, after arriving the night before we found a campsite to the east of tempe ,, the following morning we went to the show the lot was so huge , Got a miracle ticket since some people did not make it through the Snow Storm . So Here Comes Sun Shine was Played, it was like we were all blessed to have Jerry Break out a Classic for the first song After what we had endured to get to the show the opening song Validated the Whole Journey to Tempe ..Jerry's Comment about the Texas dragonfly was because there were dudes Flying Ultralights to hear the show..
as a prof musician and a huge GD fan since 1970 this is actually a pretty decent version of ANY of their songs, not near as gloriously ragged as they can be. I am very impressed with the sound for a performance recorded 25 years ago, not quite Europe '72 but for outdoors and stuff, pretty decent sound..
I was born in January on the 11th of 1974 and I was at this show. Moon man made me a t shirt with here comes sunshine on it when I met him for the second time during Richfield Ohio show after the first night was cancelled because of the blizzard. We met again for the third time. To me he's my sunshine 💙
One of my backstage obsessed, kind of douchey tour mates knew about this ahead of time and drove on the shoulder past a mile of cars to use his sticker pass to get us in (not an actual privilege) we made it to close to the rail right before they started.
Why would they take one of Garcia's best song's [ God knows he has plnty of grat songs] and play it like this? I had heard that there was a few reasons they brought this back and to hear them do it like this is Jerry could have left it where it was. Oh well life goes on.
To each their own, but this was one of the best break-outs and one of the highlight songs of the 90's! It sounds like you'd agree this is a magical song. It was a perfect set opener, and especially special at Deer Creek 94 as part of the rain set...box>samb>LLR>Here Comes Sunshine - BOOM! That run also included a mid-second-set Help>Slip>Frank and Space>UJB
OregonBen Bro i agree with 'to each his own' I am not trying to say i am better or cooler than you all i am trying to say is after brent passed the Grateful Dead was a very different band, very different just listen to the sound coming off the stage. Another point did you notice that alot of the time jerry appeared to be playing his guitar but yet you could not hear him or did you see how he was like to rest on his guitar. He was not happy with what the Grateful Dead became and he was not the only one. Help on the way>slipknot>franklins tower used to go about 30 minutes go back to hampton '83>brendan byrne '83 broome county'83 now go listen to all of those 3 shows.
Before I really tell you how I feel about your comment on this tune, after the GD NOT playing it for over 18 and a half years, I'll thank OregonBen for his comment. Obviously, it's a bit rusty (again after EIGHTEEN and a half YEARS) - try listening to the Atlanta opener of HCS, 3.30.94. Then try your best to appreciate the only band to come together as "one," Never taking themselves too seriously, but appreciating each other as accomplished musicians. Thank you!
The story goes that Vince reworked HCS for his band Vince and the Affordables for an opening slot before a Jerry Band show on Halloween 92. Jerry liked his arrangement and suggested to the band to give it a go.
I pretty much cried when they hit the second note. Waited a while to hear it. I’ll cherish this moment forever
thanks Lolo for this. Drove the night before from Santa Clara Pueblo Indian Reservation, NM, 30 min north of Santa Fe, with a truckload of us Crazy Indians, what an opener, !!! this show cooked!

that sounds so amazing! i love this song SO MUCH!! it's one of their most gorgeous songs, with such beautiful harmonies! love it!
I swear two men could lift the front end of a VW bus. I learned to drive a stick in a beautiful old 68 and drove a 78 for a few years
And how the hell did you get your bus up to 100? 😂 mine could hit 80 while going downhill
Pre set list drawing 🌄
And dancing in the grass!!!
I was there. They sound checked it so it wasn't a complete surprise but a surprise none the less. It was the loudest Dead show I ever saw!!!
Everyone was looking at each other with a "WTF" look, it was awesome!
I literally leapt out of my sneakers. Jumped for joy. NFW!
I saw a couple high-fives in there 😊. Good times
My first show....before 60 more.
Mine too!

Yeah, it was good for what it was, but just a shadow of earlier renditions.
