I appreciate Dr. McLaughlin's superb analogies and how they expound on how injuries occur, the healing process, injury prevention, and biomechanics in general 🤓🎓📝
Any time you get a ball to travel 200 mph in a sport, the body is going to suffer some. When I go full power without proper prep, it can tear up a number of points and joints.
I usually learn something from your videos but a unique case like his made for even more interesting information. Maybe a follow up on his progress in the future if that was at all possible? In any case, great video as always Dr. Ed!
I really wish I could see Dr. Ed. I believe he could be the person who could finally help me break free of the pain I have been living with for the last 10 years. It has taken away my life as I knew it and robbed me of the future I had dreamed of.
With golf, if he is a righty that left side will overgrow, delts, traps, pecs, lats will all get bigger than the right. Recommend your golfers do some singular right delt exercises and right arm lateral weighted rows. The more tucking exercises will help with the single side "atrophy" and it will be less invasive to the biomechanics of the swing. Hope this helps!
Out of curiosity, do you see the same sort of injuries and in the same degree with desk jockeys and sedentary people? Or is that another animal completely?
How come all these great Chiropractors are all in Florida!!! I went to three Chiros and they were not so good! They rushed doing the adjustment only for 7 - 10 minutes and charged me so much! I like to go to and see the Florida Chiro!!’
Probably caused by always swinging the club in one direction. Needs to swing on the other side…. Not to actually hit the ball, but to strengthen and stretch the opposite side.
You are an impressively skilled chiro, I could listen to you all day! I see you are in Florida, you and the Chiro Dragon should come together on a vid sometime, that might be fun. I think she just moved her practice near Orlando!

I've been dealing with the same issues, and let me say this much, the doctor is spot on with treatment, the only thing that isnt mentioned is the amount of time, I'm going on 1.5yrs recovery and I'm back to normal, but there is now a need to maintain care to reduce reoccurrence of the injury, so essentially I'm not healed, just recovered for life & care is self care, stretching, light weights and keeping your body fluid, also when dealing with a lower or mid back injury, never keep a wallet in your back pocket, it will mess you up, to better understand the stress of a wallet, especially when sitting, put your wallet into your shoe then put your foot into the same shoe, thats what your spine feels like.
Hey doc! Just thought I’d advise you that it is common for high performance golfers to be more jacked up in the left shoulder than the right, as the way a right handed golfer swings it they contract the left pec more than the right . Hope this helps!!
What kind of muscle disease were you thinking? I have atrophy in my trapezius too and clicking in my neck and I also notice his right leg drives sideways more just like mine, and I'm developing neurological symptoms. What's your thought on that?
I love learning from you Dr. M. I'm trained in a type of Japanese deep tissue massage. It's great to see the details of how one place on the body affects another. 💯
If not nerve compression in any of the nerves that originate at spinal levelsC5, C6, C7, C8, and T1, could it be a very minor cerebral palsy? My oldest daughter has this a very minor CP and her only symptom is reduced coordination in her right foot and leg, making her foot to flare out during her stride + slightly lower general coordination in the leg only showing when she only allowed to stand on her right leg (balancing ex. Yoga pose: virabhadrasana 3/Warrior 3).
I do gua sha on my mother's shoulder. It relieves her. I just can't do it as long as Doc Ed. In other Asian countries, they use gua sha at the back with a spoon when someone has a fever.
I too have the muscle shrinkage issue down my right side. I'm right dominant, right side stronger but the muscles don't seem to grow... I thought it was due to the muscle tightness but it must be a combination of neurological issues too by the sounds of it
Pleas help us with referrals in our own cities- I have been to a few chiropractors but none of them as thorough and effective as you are with your patients
I bet my my whole body will turn red with from that tool. Played tennis for over 15 years and got into two car crashes and my body is just not functioning the way it wants to anymore. I need this. Wish I lived in Florida which is ironic because the the IMG academy where I wanted to train is in the same city as this doctor.
Bro the golf swing is powered with the left arm for a right handed swing...ns the muscle is bigger. The doc b like: sure u gave a reasonable explanation for this but its unusual so AtRoPhY
You can visually see the golfers pec is smaller on right side, he's too young for that to happen, except for pinched nerves causing problems! Hope the golfer gets himself fixed up and healthy.
I'm a full-time golfer myself, I can relate to some of the pain and stress the body can have from trying to stay in shape and maintaining your game. It can definitely take a toll on the body depending on your daily routine.
Wait... when you pointed out how there’s not as much muscle on one side of his chest, compared to the other... don’t you have to take into consideration the fact that the side where there was more muscle, he had his arm pulled in close to his body? And on the side that you said had the least muscle was because you had his arm extended out, I guess, elongating the muscles on that side of his chest...?
I’m right there with this kid, I’m 23 and notice my left shoulder is stronger than my right on OHP and bench. I’m right dominant as well, I got a feeling if I saw this guy he’d say the same exact stuff to me.

Can someone tell me what he’s rubbing on him causing the bruising?
Just oil and a tool called gusha. If you Google the tool it says that it can lift the blood right to the top of the skin

I’ll play golf with him lol excellent video Doc
I think you meant Roger Federer; the difference between his right and left forearms is astounding
Nadal is also known for the difference in the sizes of his arms. The other players even kind of rib him about it on the tour.
Easy "solution" to the asymmetry of the muscles: play golf with both hands ...
Funny that the Dr. mentioned Rafa Nadal, because he's a tennis player but also loves and has even competed in Golf.
What does the scraping do
Why was there so much quick bruising? What was the Chiro using to do that?
why do you favor the jade over a metal scrapper?
Scraper is just for scraping, but the jade is used to target tight muscles.

In indonesia we called "kerokan"
I’m worried about the Doc’s elbow though, doesn’t he get bruises with all the massages he does with it? Has to be sore by now.
Probably gets best results using his arms but I think you're right. He should get a massage gun of some sort.
His shoulder is a bigger concern
Lots of good oils and if you watch his posture even when bending, his back is ramrod straight.
The patient is so handsome all I can think about is (insert fantasy here)
WHAT IS THE PATIENT'S NAME?
A muscular imbalance? Jeff Cavaliere has entered the chat...
What is he rubbing on the skin (pecs, shoulder) that is turning it red? What does that help?
It’s called scraping I think. Releases tension where you have knots, tightness.

Noooo. Scraping doesn’t tear or cut the skin. It stimulates blood flow through the muscle tissue
