      I agree, there is no single answer to this question. My approach to this is creating social media accounts, building a network, engaging with followers and most of all do research on what makes a manga great.

      @@namelesschild3724 It just depends. Like if you like drawing with color, Webtoon or Tapas is probably the best for you. If you like manga, then maybe Mangaplus Creators, Days Neo, Jump Rookie etc. If you like drawing short comics, twitter. If you like having your work voice acted, tiktok or youtube.

    I don't know if I agree with that, paywalling your audience is a notoriously Hard Sell. A good example on how that can completely backfire is the UA-cam channel The Watcher, they tried to have their own subscription service and it led to disastrous results. Nobody is going to want to pay a fee for one product, the only reason people even support people on patreon is to support the Creator more so than what they create. This guy doesn't seem to understand that the reason working with companies is such a viable option is because they have a lot of resources and they can better get people paying to get eyes on your product. Vivziepop absolutely needed Amazon or else she would have been handling the translation marketing streaming and monetization of hazbin Hotel entirely herself on top of having to focus on her other projects like hell of a boss. Being an artist is an entirely different skillset compared to that. I'd argue even anime needs these big corporations who would have cared about Dragon Ball if it was airing on its own network that people had to pay $4.99 for?

      That is a fair point!!

      People are willing to pay for something that offers value. It's astonishing how some individuals are willing to spend exorbitant amounts of money on the most frivolous of items. When a company offers genuine value, people are willing to pay for it. Many times, it doesn't require the backing of large corporations to succeed.

    • @MightGuy15
      @MightGuy15 2 місяці тому +1

      @@theriddleman7648 I think that's a fair point! It's absolutely true that that happens, but I feel that that is an exception to the situation more than a thing that generally happens. Remember, for every successful kickstarter or patreaon project, there are 11 that failed that you just never heard of. Even in situations where people have a large audience (such as the watcher as I mentioned earlier) people took them getting people to pay for projects that were originally free as an insult and were offended at the mentioning that 4.99 was a price that "everyone can afford" in their own words.
      Perhaps you don't have to have a large corporation backing your project, but relying on your audience can be just as taxing. Usually things like dealing with customers, needing to do potential translations, handling and shipping of products or advertising is a thing corperations handle, I'd argue those things alone require a more frivilous skillset than just making the things you like and hoping people like it enough to want to buy it. Sure there are people who can handle doing all of that, but that's not the case for everybody.

    If you wanted to create a manga stylized comic, what would you say the best platform for the comic to develop an audience? I heard webtoon does not work well for more black and white style manga comics. How would you advertise your comic without a publisher?
