Hey Alyska, if you're confused on why Freyr were able to summon Ingrid, it's because Ingrid were originally Freyr's sword Súmmarbŕander (sorry if i got the typing wrong) a.k.a the sword of the summer, in the myth, the sword has a personality on it's own, and one time Freyr fall in love so hard with a giantess he's willing to give his sword in exchange for a hand in marriege with the giantess, and the sword got so angry at Freyr it refused to come back to him
Another heartbreaking moment is that trough the story, Brok said a riddle and Mimir couldn't find out what the answer was. In the end...he found out.."A hole gets bigger the more you take away"
Yep. As a metaphor, the hole was Sindri. How he mentioned that everything was being taken from him, growing emptier and emptier. And with Brok gone, that hole in his heart became bigger than ever. That's why it was fitting to give the answer while Brok was floating away.
I really love Odin's character. It's pretty far off to what I wanted, but after a while, I started seeing what Santa Monica had intended to do. They made him the Ultimate Dark Wizard, who's magic and weapons he stole from all of the realms. Fire from Muspelheim, Ice from Helheim, Light from Alfheim, Poison from Niflheim, Magic from Vanaheim, Spear from Svartalfheim, Army from Midgard, the Prophecies from Jotunheim. Even though the final fight wasn't as epically cinematic as of previous games, I think the scale of the fight is to showcase that he isn't an all powerful god that controls everything, he's only a coward who's lied, killed, and stole his way to find the truth, at whatever cost. Even his battle-theme is though out really well. the music represents the escalation of the fight. It starts off epic and grandiose, but becomes more intense, fast paced and desperate as the fight goes on, mimicking Odin's feelings as the fight progresses. Think about it; Odin doesn't fight like this. He would only take up a weapon himself at this stage when he's pushed to the very limit, and in the beginning he's fairly calm and composed, like the music, grandiose, epic, but calm. And then once you get into phase 2 and especially 3, Odin really starts losing his cool as he realizes he might not actually win the fight, and he just starts getting more and more desperate. The music mirrors this. It's really well done. The man who was in such vast control for so long, having that control ultimately threatened, and literally freaking out, losing his shit and doing absolutely anything to win. (Just saying, didn't write all of this, I only slightly rewrote it. I saw two comments that perfectly explained how I felt about Odin, so props to them for putting in the effort)
In the actual mythology Odin is portrayed as an old man who travels in search of knowledge. He never is really described as some battle crazy strong warrior or anything like that. Santa Monica's interpretation of him is actually closer to the myth than other interpretations like Marvels for example.
I think that above all, Odin was portrayed as the narcissistic abuser he is. HE is the centre of everything for him, not the knowledge. His narcissism is just so masterfully done. His desire is not for knowledge for the sake of knowledge (like Sylens in Horizon for example) or to better the world. It is only so HE can know where he will do, what will happen to him. His ego cannot comprehend his end. He says "we could have made it all better" but that is such a lie and manipulation tactic, just like when he said "he had no choice" in literally stabbing his son for disobeying him. Odin would have never used the knowledge for nothing but what benefits Odin. He already is the All-Father". He is the main god of the nine realms and has been for centuries and WHAT HAS HE DONE but abuse that, use everyone and everything for his selfish needs? And like a proper narcissist, he doesn't have the clarity to even admit to himself that he could make a mistake, or that anything he did was not done for some higher/important reason. He convinced himself that he was this beacon of light for knowledge, the one to cure the realms and lead them with this newfound truth, when it was all about his fragile ego all along. A wonderfully complex and horrible character, truly.
As someone who had to bike 10km to the next town over to blockbuster to rent the original god of war....the character development of Kratos. This is probably my favorite game of all times. Period.

That’s amazing! I also played the original back in 2005. I literally grew up with kratos, both in age and wisdom. I felt so satisfied to see kratos arc from god of war to god of hope.
The lesson of this game is that our fate is comprised of our nature and the choices we make. To change our fate we only have to change our nature. Did you notice that the game began in a cave and ended in one. At the beginning Atreus enters the cave and at the end he walks out of it. I think Sindri’s character arc is going to set him up as a different character in a future game(s). For me the saddest part of Brok’s death was that because he had an incomplete soul there would be no afterlife for him, just oblivion. 😢
Not entirely. Freyr gives up his sword (which actually doesnt have a name) for Gerd’s hand in marriage, an ice jotun, but when it came time to fight surtur, since he gave his sword away, he and surtur kill each other. In reality, Freyr would have been able to hold off the ragnarok monster for a short time before being overwhelmed.
I tear up when Mimir says "a hole" at the end. Nothing quite like a heartbreaking callback to make us cry one more time at the end. And its metaphorical meaning hole=loss, or a hole in your heart.
Sadly, he also died at Ragnarok to Sutr specifically BECAUSE he didn't have his sword...though, looks like it only helped save others from the explosion, and still didn't save his Freyr's life. At least he saved his twin sister and the others.
I basically sobbed from Atreus awakening to the end. I knew that he was saying goodbye, and I didn't want to. DAMMIT, Bear McCreary! Quit putting water in my eyes!
Surtr Killing Freyr is probably the most most mythologically accurate thing to happen in this game lol. Though in the myth, he dies because he foolishly gave up his magic sword, whereas here he has it and still dies.
Yeah, Santa Monica absolutely destroyed the norse myths in this game after curating it so well in 2018. Ragnarok was a shambolic conclusion to say the least. Atleast kratos lived, else this wouldve been a pure dumpster fire.
@@peeturpain9379 Finally someone says it lmao. Ragnorak is suposed to be the end of the world and it's renewel yet here it's just asgard. Once I beat the first game and atreus said his name was Loki I knee some bullshit was gonna go down in the sequal.
@@Xer405 Someone probably close the ears and talk about nothing, the characters Tell you hundred Times they don't destroy the world but only Odin, all the developed of kratos and? Destroy another world? Really? i think that's gonna be the most dumb choice in Gaming history, the final of God of war 3, for what? For another Casual world murder, nice!
Thor's hammer doesn't need a requirement to be worthy, just very strong and of course being a god. the whole worthy thing is Marvel's doing, plus if it went by that, Thor wouldn't be worthy after all the killing he's done.
The moment we march into Asgard for war I felt an adrenaline rush like I had not felt since the final battle scene in Endgame. This is one of not just greatest games I’ve ever played, it’s also one of the best sequel/conclusions to a saga I have ever seen on screen! I cried no less than 4 times at this game, both at heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. And now we have seen not only Atreus/Loki grow into his own, we have seen Kratos finally do something I thought impossible…..open his heart not just for his wife and son, but to the world. The moment he breaks down after seeing his tryptic shrine and sees that he becomes good and beloved god I cried just as hard with him. And Atreus/Loki making the decision to leave his father and journey to find the rest of his people, I was damn near broken, this must be what parents feel like when their kids graduate and leave home. The one thing that I had a problem with is that the “true ending” is with the funeral with Brok. I loved how it was done but I don’t want the conclusion to this game to be not just saying goodbye to Brok but seeing Sindri completely broken, and implying that he may never recover from his grief and guilt. But still it is a masterpiece of a game. Thank you Corey Barlog, Eric Williams and all the great geniuses behind making this game. I will treasure it always.😭😭😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I think you're the first streamer to have noticed the importance of the second panel that Kratos opened right at first. Him being worshiped by everyone was awesome. This scene becomes even greater specially when we remember what Odin said to him.
Congrats to beat it. It is incredible and powerful emotion. There is secret, go to Niflheim and go to new area is Prison Wreckage. You will find very familiar. If you want to.
watch ton of these reactions hardly anyone understood either this panel or the implications of it. so glad you did and found it as emotional as i did! subbed!
Game of the year!!! Emotional rollercoaster from start to finish! Watching a UA-camr with the passion you have for this made it all the better! Good work Alice 🫡
I think part of the reason that the Sindri and Brok thing hits so hard is something that you touched on at the end. He really has given us everything. Like to the point where throughout the two games, I would sometimes be like, "It's kind of wild and definitely convenient for the plot that we have these two dwarves who are pretty much chill with just putting their lives on hold to be at our beck and call and just serving as backup for this violent old man and his angsty teenager." And then Brok dies and Sindri calls that right out. Suddenly I go from thinking that the dwarves were a comedic convenience that I could take for granted to realizing they have been the realest bros and vital companions, and now one of them is dead because I got them caught up in my stuff. And I even had that moment of, "Wait, does that mean no more blacksmith for the rest of the game? I don't know if I can do this without them."
It took me being high as balls while watching this to realize that the prophecy from the first game still comes true, because Odin was acting like Atreus's father throughout the whole game. So that las panel in the prophecy of "Loki"(As the Giants called him) holding his dead father in his hands still technically comes true. Just not in the way we thought it would.
Finally Alyska is back playing story rich video games thus, im back. I think the last time i watched her videos was her playing Resident evil 2 remake. I'll have to go back to the start of this GoW series and watch from the beginning.
Both of the final scenes broke me when i saw them for the first time. First seeing the climax of the evolution of Atreus and Kratos both as human beings but also their relationship as father and son, not only Atreus learning from Kratos but a lot happened in reverse as well, almost like Kratos "using" Atreus to "pay" for his sins as a Caliope's father and also Atreus being the God that Kratos couldnt be.. And then Kratos seeing HIS Giant panel and crying. For those who played every game this has a whole new meaning. Kratos started suffering right from birth, having Deimos as almost a "cursed" brother, taken by the gods when they were just kids, seeing him die when he almost saved him, growing trying to build a family but also trying to be a leader to his people, was almost in the brink of death, trusted the gods for his own and for his family's safety, was used and abused and also betrayed, was blinded by rage for the gods everyone trusted, killed his own family, was forced to live as the Ghost of Sparta with the ashes of those he loves on his skin forever, could not escape his sins even if he tried to kill himself not because didnt want to but because he wasnt allowed, achieved revenge on every Greek god at the cost of Greece itself, killed innocent people and also many demons in his world but he could never be the god that he WANTED to be, so he traveled to Midgard to change his life, and oh boy it did. Ragnarok is just that, an opportunity for Kratos not to be the God that he was destined to be from birth but the God that, just like Odin said, a god that people prayed to, a god that helps people and is not forced to betray the people he loves for his own benefit. Having seen everything Kratos related from the very beggining i had to cry, Kratos has a whole new meaning but he will let out the God he was if needed, but now it's only for protection, not for destruction.
Alyska, thanksfull for emotional playthrough. I had a lot of fun - partly because of the game (as a writer, I can't help but mention the amazing plot) and also from the atmosphere you created. And yes, I have slightly improved my English...I suppose so..hah)
I just now noticed that in Kratos's final prophecy he is only welding the axe, not the blades of chaos. Neither are the chains around his hands anymore in the drawing. He holds the axe on his shoulder as if he is building something with it rather than as a weapon. That makes me tear up. He is finally free if those accursed blades, and now he can stick to using his wife's axe as a symbol of her being with him. Also he will have the spear ehich represents his Spartan heritage, as the spear is the first weapon a Spartan masters. All while he gets to finally rid himself from the curse of Athena and move forward to become (what I like to think of as) Kratos the Forger, the one who no longer destroys worlds but now rebuilds them. What an outstanding ending. Wow.
I just realized, what does this game have with killing siblings?! I just realized every single supporting character who had a sibling was killed. It's seriously becoming a trope nowadays. But outside of that, fantastic game. I don't care what the game awards says, there's no way a game that's so insanely difficult that many people can't play/beat it is better than this masterpiece here. This is the true GOTY imo.
Yeah I literally just beat the game the other night and I have to say the look on kratosis Face the disbelief and pure shock on the final door panel almost broke me the whole scene with his son almost broke me but his face
Enjoyed your playthrough of this masterpiece! I finished it a few days ago. I'm looking forward to GNA & the Bezerker King lol. I'm sure you will post videos on all that stuff so I'm looking forward to it
My guess is that the way we get to other mythical lands is by Atreus gettin in some sort of trouble while looking for the giants! Kratos will have to save and help him!
I have to assume this is the end of the "god of war" franchise with kratos specifically, and the next game will be about Atreus likely going to Egypt (twice now we have seen egypt themed stuff in these lands) and be called something else entirely. Sort of like a spin off or something.
I like to point this out, if only so that other people feel for Sindri the way I do. Yes, his gloves are off. Yes, he's covered in blood and grime and filth. And no, he's not suddenly okay with being dirty and gross. People like Sindri don't just suddenly stop caring about germs. He just doesn't believe he has a right to be clean anymore, because he blames himself for Brok's death more than anyone else.
For those who dont undersdtand. Atreus creates Jormungandr in Jotunheim then he got bigger fast. Then Angroboda takes him to asgard to fight. Then Thor sends him back in time. So the one in the midgard is the old Jormundgandr who is still there.
Aye. The manager of my account cried the moment the boy hugged his father. He covered his mouth, and teared up immediately. Turned out he's a big softie when it comes to family. He values his own more than himself. His dream is to become a dad soon. Let's just pray it happens for him.

there's also the fact that this YTer is using lunda's set. lots of people got absolutely filtered by Odin because they just didn't have a good setup
Sindri's character development being akin to that of the Giving Tree just breaks my heart
I love that he's finally worshiped and loved. I'm choosing to call him the new/real All Father.
Here's an interesting fact I learned about Skjoldr very recently. Apparently when he becomes an adult, he becomes the King of Denmark.
And his great great great great great great grandson is King Hrotgar, from the tale of Beowulf
That Kratos speech made me want to suit up and defeat Odin myself.
That whole sequence was insane
This was such an enjoyable and entertaining playthrough glad you got to enjoy it being fully immersed!
Fryer is the only one who actually had the most accurate death in relation to the myth
@@S.rosalie.lopez1 true, but still a lot closer than some of the other ones
I'm relieved Fenrir didn't get King Kong'ed by Vidarr
Such a fantastic game. Between this and Elden Ring the bar for video games has definitely gone up a notch or two.
I tear up when Mimir says "a hole" at the end. Nothing quite like a heartbreaking callback to make us cry one more time at the end. And its metaphorical meaning hole=loss, or a hole in your heart.
And Kratos' Story finally reaches its full Circle, From a Destroyer to a Loving Father and a Leader
The finale!! Thank you for such consistent uploads with this! Almost videos every day!! Appreciate all the hard work Alyce!
1:19:40 HOW IS THIS A GAME?! THIS IS A LITERAL MASTERPIECE! Wow
Ingrid is Freyr weapon like Mjölnir is for Thor, as he in norse mythology Freyr is known for having a sword that can fight for it self.
Sadly, he also died at Ragnarok to Sutr specifically BECAUSE he didn't have his sword...though, looks like it only helped save others from the explosion, and still didn't save his Freyr's life. At least he saved his twin sister and the others.
Freyr is pretty much the cool dude with the cool gadgets in the mythology
Wow, such a great game! Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. Game of the Year.
I basically sobbed from Atreus awakening to the end. I knew that he was saying goodbye, and I didn't want to.
DAMMIT, Bear McCreary! Quit putting water in my eyes!
It’s makes us all feel better to not see it as goodbye, but see you soon 😢
@@DIOSUBLIME you think the way surtr was introduced was good?
I'm truly worried for Sindri.
He's in that place of blind, empty, cold rage that Kratos used to be.
This was fun. There's a lot of post game content! Important stuff you won't want to miss. Check all the maps!
Losing Brok hurt on a scale I never thought possible for a game; no matter how many times I see his funeral it rips through my heart every time
I think you're the first streamer to have noticed the importance of the second panel that Kratos opened right at first. Him being worshiped by everyone was awesome. This scene becomes even greater specially when we remember what Odin said to him.
Yeah the game puts me into an emotional train wreck seeing Atreus making his final goodbyes to Kratos was so emotional
Congrats to beat it. It is incredible and powerful emotion. There is secret, go to Niflheim and go to new area is Prison Wreckage. You will find very familiar. If you want to.
watch ton of these reactions hardly anyone understood either this panel or the implications of it. so glad you did and found it as emotional as i did! subbed!
You finished GoW Ragnarok with lots of style n finesse great job Alyska
Game of the year!!! Emotional rollercoaster from start to finish! Watching a UA-camr with the passion you have for this made it all the better! Good work Alice 🫡
GOTY
I think part of the reason that the Sindri and Brok thing hits so hard is something that you touched on at the end. He really has given us everything. Like to the point where throughout the two games, I would sometimes be like, "It's kind of wild and definitely convenient for the plot that we have these two dwarves who are pretty much chill with just putting their lives on hold to be at our beck and call and just serving as backup for this violent old man and his angsty teenager."
And then Brok dies and Sindri calls that right out.
I played this as well and it was just an whole another experience . Like hands off to santa monica studios for making this unforgettable series
Lmao I think you completely missed Fenrir bodying that Dragon lmao.
Oh yeah and Jormungandr being sent back in time by Thor.
The most brutal thing in that whole fight was Thor being called Will Smith lol
Thank you for enjoying this game.
You expressed emotions which might be difficult for some of us (myself included) to be free with.
its a freaking masterpiece animated movie. You just get to play along at times.
I'm Japanese and always enjoy watching your videos!
Keep up the good work!
Sorry for my bad English
I'm glad to see you play games in this format again! Loved your reaction! 😃
thanks for sharing the whole gameplay as I couldn't play it even if I want it. Please keep on doing this
From deceit to vengence to destruction to destiny to teacher to war to redemption. At least kratos finally finds peace ✌. For now
I have no shame to say that I am a boy and I cried more like you at the final... the best story games I have played, so honored to live this moment!
I like how when Kratos sees his new fate, it cements his redemption story and he won’t be deterred anymore.
Brilliant game, what a ride. Truly hope they make a 3rd to finish a complete trilogy. Worth the wait, that's for sure
On the plus side, Skjoldr grows up to become the King of Denmark. No shit.
Yeah I literally just beat the game the other night and I have to say the look on kratosis Face the disbelief and pure shock on the final door panel almost broke me the whole scene with his son almost broke me but his face
Great job finishing the story it was an amazing experience seeing this whole journey
19:30 this moment is the culmination of the biggest, greatest, bestest character evolution I have ever witnessed.
35:52 : Mimir story in previous GOW was not a lie!
Thor did smashed The World Serpent so hard that he made him travel back the space and time!!
right there 1:03:12 FATE CHANGED!! Atreus saw the mural of him Holding Kratos in his Arms instead hes holding Odin in his arms
About Mjolnir: it's just a REALLY REALLY heavy hammer with an imbalance in it, the "worthy" part was created by Marvel, I believe
Sindri should be mad at Atreus more than Kratos because Kratos did tried to stop his son for his search for Tyr
when doing the thor fight i love the hammer of thor theme that goes with the last phase of the fight
Enjoyed your playthrough of this masterpiece! I finished it a few days ago. I'm looking forward to GNA & the Bezerker King lol. I'm sure you will post videos on all that stuff so I'm looking forward to it
Loved your playthough of the game. GOTY for me. Its gonna be hard for any future game to top this. Great job
I love your videos, the way you get involved in the game and get emotional, congratulations !!!
*literal war and death going on between all the realms*
Alyska: 29:32
the face as she said happily ever after in that whispered tone just killed me lol
Brock funeral is very sad, I Love youre reaction, You have a new follower
You’re actually good at what you do.
Great playthrough really enjoyed it 💯
My guess is that the way we get to other mythical lands is by Atreus gettin in some sort of trouble while looking for the giants! Kratos will have to save and help him!
Sindri just needs time. He may never return to his old self, but hopefully at least some of the wounds will heal.
When Mimir says the answer to the riddle, that shit sent me 😭
There's a good bit more to play, yet! All I'll say is this; go after the Remnants of Asgard.
I don't know much. But I do know that for some, grief is something that never goes away.
I have to assume this is the end of the "god of war" franchise with kratos specifically, and the next game will be about Atreus likely going to Egypt (twice now we have seen egypt themed stuff in these lands) and be called something else entirely. Sort of like a spin off or something.
November and December has not been nice to your emotions! Well done!
Kratos was once worshipped by the Spartans as the God of War. Now he shall become the God of Peace, and an Allfather in his own right.
Thank you, it was a really fun ride. What will the next journey be?
"Let me guess... she starts monologuing."
"She starts monologuing!"
So shines a good deed in a weary world.
1:01:01 oh what a sweet duck's here, very lovely
Alyce! You should check out the Valhalla DLC that released in December! It comes with a new storyline and a new skin, and it's completely free 😁
Odin fight is so fucking dope bro, it couldve been much better but i still love it
I love your reaction to the story!
40:34 her joke, well that was unexpected
Cuz ingrid actually belongs to freyr which odin took it from him. Thats why odin gave it atreus cux he didn't care about it and it was not his own.
from Kratos, The God of War, he now became The All-Father is ughhhhh
No he didn’t he’s not the ruler but the savior big difference
I hope Atreus comes back older in a new one and buff bald just like young kratos
best ending by farrrr!
Odin: three Against One, eh? 57:42
For those who dont undersdtand. Atreus creates Jormungandr in Jotunheim then he got bigger fast. Then Angroboda takes him to asgard to fight. Then Thor sends him back in time. So the one in the midgard is the old Jormundgandr who is still there.
There's people who didn't understand?
Aye. The manager of my account cried the moment the boy hugged his father. He covered his mouth, and teared up immediately.
Turned out he's a big softie when it comes to family. He values his own more than himself. His dream is to become a dad soon. Let's just pray it happens for him.
The line at the end by Mimir KILLED me 😭
