    Sometimes it can seem like our actions can determine our political beliefs, but it doesn't have to be that way. Animal rights is not a political issue.

      I'm a pro life vegan, though I tend to align with the "far left" on most issues. I tend to think of abortion oppositely with analogy to veganism (the fetus being analogous to the animals), but in cases of children or r*ped adults, I honestly agree with your take. Obviously also depending on how many weeks it's been for the fetus.

    It's not exclusive. It shouldn't be partisan. That said: It is a reality that the more progressive a politician is, the more likely they are to support our causes.
    More simply: It is a reality that the more progressive a politician is, the more likely they are to act in opposition to oppression of any form.

    Women's rights is a left wing political issue. Conservatives want women to be property of their husband. Up until recently it was legal to SA your wife. Which side do you think wanted it that way?

    I really don't want to gatekeep veganism, but this is wrong on many levels.
    I can agree that viewing veganism through the left/right political spectrum may not be helpful or even harmful when doing activism.
    Veganism is a social rights movement!
    Like every social rights issue, it is overwhelming majority left leaning. Veganism is (or at least should be) intersectional. I don't know how you expect for someone who is not concerned for human rights to care about animal rights. It can happen but those people usually just hate humans, or are faking it.
    Sorry for being direct - It is concerning that this is coming from you, knowing your background.
    In the end, I'm not sure if veganism pushed me to the left or it was the other way around, I think it was both, which says to me that it is a very intersectional thing.

      All that being said, it shouldn't stop us from convincing conservatives of veganism

      @@stefanvojvodic2758 Veganism itself is not a left or right issue, and I want conservatives and right wing folks feel welcome to be vegan and don't think of it as a left or liberal ideologies. I just want more people on board and I want animals to stop being abused.
      I'm very busy rn and can't write more. It's a whole topic.
      You don't have to be left to be concerned about human rights. I know conservatives who are. Indeed, a group of Christian conservatives at University of Texas Law Clinic are representing us in suing the police when they arrested us for doing animal rights activism because they believe in human rights and value freedom of speech.
      That line of thinking, that anyone conservative who doesn't align with our political views, doesn't care about human rights causes more division and polarization.
      I actually think that veganism is something (or should be something) that can bring everyone together.
      Need to go now but your comment is noted :)

      @@DrFarazHarsini hey, thanks for taking the time to read and reply :)
      I see your point and I agree to some extent. I too want everyone to be welcomed to veganism. And yes, animals that are suffering right now couldn't care less if it's a left or right issue, and we're doing it for them. From that point you're 100% correct - we should do everything we can to make people go vegan, including conservatives, of course. And having them on our side can be very beneficial for the animals.
      It may be just my brain, but I can't comprehend someone caring for the animals, and not supporting (actively opposing) LGBTQ+/womens/workers rights, being nationalistic and hating immigrants, etc. (saying this as a straight white man lol)
      Looking at the bigger picture - I must say that veganism is intersectional - that is, if we really want a free and just world for every animal (human and non-human)

    • @catherinehoy5548
      @catherinehoy5548 4 місяці тому +1

      @@stefanvojvodic2758 honestly it's not such a brainache - people who exploit are also not likely to give a fuck about exploiting; whether they are animals and not fellow earthlings, workers and not employees, immigrants and not humans. Meat eating along with other forms of exploitation are manifestations of the 'might is right' aspects of right wing ideology.
      I think people might choose a plant based diet and be conservative, but it won't be ethical veganism and when it is ethical veganism, they won't be conservative.

    David Ramms eats shellfish - he has said he doesn't consider bivalves as animals. Bit disingenuous tbh and going on about rapists is a bit weird. Seriously why wouldn't you help an animal that's injured ... veganism is about reducing suffering as far as is practical and possible, so helping an injured animal is totally vegan, unlike calling people 'idiot progressives' - not helpful, what do you even mean?

    • @davidramms
      @davidramms 4 місяці тому +4

      I don't eat shellfish and have never said I don't consider bivalves as animals, I've always said that I have never and will never eat shellfish as I was born vegetarian and have no desire to. For those that are considering eating them, I recommend to err on the side of caution and just eat plants.
      Calling someone an "idiot progressive" is totally vegan, although you have a point that it's probably unhelpful.
      Not sure why you're talking about injured animals, that topic wasn't discussed in this video.
