Thanks. I realized my painting was in the blocking in stage and I thought it was finished. Your work is mindfully executed with patience and skill. I also watch the moss ep. 150 and now I'm ready to bring my painting up a notch.
Patience is correct, and this technique will sure teach you that for sure...and I "think" or "assume" that is the one thing if not THE Thing ,so many struggle with while painting......this technique will cure impatience ...Lol and yes the moss is what i want to see most...Thanks again MJS for sharing this with all of us .
As well as patience I think that many of us are never taught to work in layers when we're younger (unless later going to art school or being lucky with art teachers). For the longest time I thought all the great artists did their work in a single pass, top to bottom!
Thank you for providing the technique I needed to know for a painting I'm working on. I'm not as patient as you are I think...but it helps to know how to make a forest floor look realistic!
Michael James Smith, Sometimes I think universe created this Nature with billion of brushes and colours so precisely, and luckily you have been gifted with some of them. God bless you.
When I was a kid, I Used to watch Bob painting, now that im a little older I just love to watch you making painting great againg. You are the reason I love to paint
Me too, bob is a legend of his own but these are two very different artists, this is super realism at its finest and like you now that i am older this has really grabbed my attention, im going to try my luck at this approach maybe try doing one of his paintings, i certainly wont be expecting results like this lol and there wont really be room for happy accidents like bobs style but i feel really inspired by this, incredible talent
You have to be the most talented photo realist painter I have ever seen! Some of your paintings look more realistic than the photos you use as reference.
Wow i love watching you paint. I learn so much. The patience you have for all the details is truly amazing. Thank you for sharing all that you do. You are a great teacher and artist.
MAGIC! It is poetry in motion to watch you wield those various brushes! Stunning painting, and a real treat to learn techniques from you. Thank you ever so much for sharing your incredible talent.
This is very helpful. You are just as good at teaching painting as you are painting. It's very hard to find someone that truly is easy to follow and learn from. Tysvmfs!!! I will look for your sites.
It's amazing how realistic your leaves are! It's really great art. You are a master Michael! This work, will be, in my opinion, a real success, congratulations! Thank you!
I can hardly wait till I have a studio set up in my house so that I can begin taking lessons from you. When I see your paintings next to other "realistic artist's work there is no comparison. Your work stands way out, no disrespect to any of the other artist's work. Absolutely hands down fabulous! Watching as you work from the block in stage through to completion, it just boggles my mind. Your technique doesn't seem like it would be hard to do but the patience required to see it through....
I've just found this youtube channel, I've never picked up a brush and painted a landscape pic in my life. But now at the age of 51 I'm very tempted to give it a go.
So relaxing... and it makes me miss painting on my own. But with our newborn there is no time left over... but it will change. Maybe our so will paint with me in a few years. :)
Michael, up were you first started !! I got out my microscope and inspected the entire painting and I had to really look hard but that one small brown leaf didn't have the hair fiber skelatal membrane in it that makes up the leaf.. I had to go to 10,000 magnification to catch it though.. 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 Dear God man.!!! I've never in my life , seen such photo quality oil painting.. You are incredibly accurate on all colors, perspective depth, angles are all flawless.. beautiful work. Truly a gifted artist.. Thanks for your knowledge and sharing of your techniques.. Really awesome my friend..
I was really impressed the way you used your hand and imagination. Really amazing talent. You did a marvelous workmanship. You are really different in patient. Very inspiring.
You and your father have such amazing talent....I am envious! I enjoy very much watching you work and seeing your fathers finished pieces. It would be nice to watch him work as well, but, I do enjoy his finished pieces.
I'm currently painting a New England harbor-scape and am having trouble with the shimmer in the water. This video just showed me why it's not looking right: not using the correct technique and detail. Thanks for the help.
Thank you so much for this lesson. Took a photo a fall photo a few years ago and have wanted to paint it forever. Your demonstration has shown me how to tackle the fallen leaves on the ground. Brilliant!
his so called rough block in has so much color and blend, its great platform to start the rest...i cant get the block in anywhere as nice...and that seems to be the easy part...lol. is he slapping on lots of different colors at once on the brush....
A lot of times when you watch videos about painting people say that you shouldn't use black because it kills the painting, I think you are an excellent example of that not being true.
Your hand has got billions of pixels. I can hardly believe it's painting. Every detail appears just so real. My compliments !
Proof that painting can be a lot of work . No knockoff here .
indeed!

@@somsoc_ Lol...true..
THE TALENT IS JUST TOO MUCH TO HANDLE FOR THE WORLD!!!!!
I haven't painted in so long, but I swear Michael James Smith is inspiring me to take it up again
Do it. Best entertainment money can't buy.
I feel the same way you do. Convincing myself i can is the issue. Lol
Try looking at his Dads work. It’s a carbon copy in style yet he never gives him credit
Thank you for providing the technique I needed to know for a painting I'm working on. I'm not as patient as you are I think...but it helps to know how to make a forest floor look realistic!
I know this is an older video, but I'm hoping sometime you will do this or something similar as a full lesson. It is absolutely stunning!

These videos have the amazing ability to get me inspired to paint and unmotivated at the same time. Look at these details and realism. It's fantastic.
