Meet the Man Building Human-Sized Nests
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 вер 2017
- In the forestry hills of Big Sur, California, Jayson Fann weaves, bends and shapes eucalyptus and willow branches into incredible human-sized nests. Each of these “earthly temples” weighs in at over 100,000 pounds, often requiring heavy-duty equipment to aid in transportation and construction. Now, Fann is using his nests as an educational tool, helping students discover their ability to shape and create their environment, all the while strengthening their connection with nature.

carpei diem Can confirm.
Wubba lubba dub dub
I like it, good job
You left out that he uses the invasive Eucaplyptus trees and therefore is attempting to remove them.
Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only person thinking that.
iomoon rip koala
Eucalyptus trees are endangered in Australia
There are over 700 species of eucalyptus. Some are bound to be endangered. But the particular species he's using has entire tree farms dedicated to growing it. So no, it's not endangered.
@@JK-bz7ij he lives in California.
Now we can become the birb
Alexandra Smith A borb.*
A birb indeeeeed
Alexandra Smith BIRBSSS!

*🅱️🅰️rb*
his friends: let's build a fort
*him:*
but the real question is can we lay eggs in it??
Probably not, unless you're a platypus.
James Caldwell well can you?
Well, technically yes. You just need to get some menstruating women in there.
seigeengine true
I mean I can imagine people wanting to give birth in one 😂😂
that looks like something out of a movie ._.
Jaqen H'ghar V Where The Wild Things Are
OMG! THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING TOO
I went in one of these as a kid at big sur and fell in love, it was so cool in there
imagine the amount of spiders.......
I'm pretty sure a spider nest hatched in my house recently.
Spiders are everywhere. I was walking across a concrete patio surrounded by asphalt a few weeks ago and walked into webs stretching from the ground up to a street light.
frilink stop it pls
frilink ... I love spiders!
Grow a pair
MMMMM PROTEIN
1:05 "I use a machete to cut off all the excess leaves" (footage shows chopping off small branches)
1:30 "I use every part of the tree... all the way down to the very smallest twig and branch"
In 1:30, he is talking about using variety of tree parts.
So Sorry, it that really make you embarrassed. Thank ..Love it.. 😉
NeverLooksAtComments i
M Life Reallife the fuck?
NeverLooksAtComments I
looks like it would be fun to take his class
He cuts down birds houses to copy their houses
In bird culture, this is considered a dick move.
The stuff he's cutting in the footage has fallen already.
+Fujaskanerv fallen and rotten, still standing trees are an essential part of the forest ecology. They are hotbeds for wildlife and important to keep in the forest
EDIT: Here is a link from Penn State about dead trees in the forest extension.psu.edu/dead-wood-for-wildlife
seigeengine actually he is right dead trees are also an important part of the ecosystem
The Friendly Narwhal savage
Quite impressive. I'm anxious to "meet the bird building bird-sized buildings".
WOW! Never heard of such a thing! Can we say "COOL??!!!" Yes, yes we can!! Bravo to the nest builder and to the video maker - love this! Thank you! =D♥
1000years later, when they found this nest. they say human living in nest. Maybe nest age, after iron age.
These are amazing…Sleeping in one is truly magical!
that's like the where the wild things are movie.
I can imagine one day, he's gonna wake up to see his nest and find a whole lot of birds flying all over the place. Then thousands of years later people are gonna think birds used to be geniuses...:D
Looks like something out of skyrim
Life Happens, another Skyrim fan here 👍
Wow the Human race is advancing
BetaRay but also destroying
BetaRay At the same time, our race is getting stupider too
The sarcasm is great in 2017
Next we will live in a dirt hope :D
JanEn3 and then a new year starts
I'd want one around my front door
:O Me ToO
Reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are. Completely overlooked and underrated movie btw.
Honestly, I would totally live there
such amazing storys as always, I always enjoy this content, inspiring, enteraring and fun in some ways
Such a good inspiration. This channel is so heartwarming.
I was wondering if I could build a squirrel nest. I guess so! Lol. I love what you do and I love big sur!!
Thats my home town! Always nice to see big sur folks shaking things up
"Great men are like eagles, and build their nest on some lofty solitude"
Guess he took his parents words literally
Can you imagine the confusion when real birds fly into it ?!?!
"Hey ! This is not my nest !!!"
I'd LOVE to live in one!
Even without wifi ;3
Or electricity
I wouldn't really care, because I just like being outside.
Hey... a man has his hobbies and to have a hobby as a job even better...
Wow this is amazing but I hope he's doing this sustainably.
Are you worried that he builds nests faster than trees can grow? Man, that sounds like a real issue, glad you caught that!
Jan Nikolai Cruz He should only do fallen branches. That way, he can leave the trees alone.
They don't tell you that he is is using the invasive Eucalyptus trees.
It's also kind of irrelevant. He's not going to impact our forests. He's a dude making quirky buildings, not a population of tens of millions hacking down old growth forests to clear land over the span of centuries.
By the was he’s using a invasive species
Beautiful. Working with children in nature. Thank you.
This is absolutely amazing !
Please, more videos on life in Iceland, Norway and Greenland!
I’m glad I came here. Excellent work!
I always wanna make fun of your guys videos because of the strange people and things y'all make videos about, BUT DAMN IT!!! By one minute in every video y'all make, it goes from a strange, funny topic; to the most beautiful and inspiring thing I've ever seen.
Cool good for him hard work and an art form 👌🏻
In rainy season does it feel comfort
Beautiful works of art.
There is a resort in Negros occidental Philippines and it is bird nest themed and all the tree house is bird nest themed
It's all fun and games until someone decides to light the nest on fire while you're in there asleep
Has anyone used this for inspo for a civilization in D&D? Cuz holy shit this is cool.
It's Amazing!!😊👍
I think I saw one in Salem Massachusetts right by the house that Clue is based off of.
I love it.I wish that i can make one.
Hey great big story, can you do a story on a UA-cam channel called primitive technology?
I love those old F250 trucks
I wonder If this guy and his nests was the inspiration for the cover of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
That is quite the sticky building material!
Absolutely beautiful. I'm contacting this individual. I have to.
Now if only this were made of steel and concrete and doused in gasoline, and on fire.
YEAH.
Where the wild things are
Alexis Palacios YES
And the mushrooms.
YOU HIT ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t imagine all of the spiders in that thing.
Is he the one that made the nest houses in the *Where the wild things are* movie?
Your using Eucalytus wood? Thats a genera of plants from my country. Doesn't it smell great? Especially that one with the bluish green leaves are particulary fragrant (and highly flammmable). Anyway, wonderful structures.
So neat! Love these documentaries so much
Nice hobby bringing down trees buddy. Keep up
He said he's a nest builder as if that's a legit profession.
I think about this often 💛
Good job. This is what education for the new generation must learn.
I guess I would have one somewhere on the property to socialize
It reminds me of the fort in Where The Wild Things Are movie
Seems cool to like hold stuff if ya get a door
When someone else sees that nest they b like that’s a next gen bird
I've seen one of those at like in Colorado mountains
that man actually Nest in Peace...!!
I was wanting to see a big ass hummingbird fly in
Birds don't bolt.
this man teaches kids how to do a birds job
I love building little and big nest
A Masterpiece! Wonder how long it lasts.
Do you think a nest can hide you when I activate sights?!
Amazing as always
All we need now is a giant bird.
Termites on a whole different level
This reminds me of the book named "Hatchet"
can i have one in my garden to camp in?
so good....but, when it rain ......hmmm ?
@1:56 what is that harp musical piece?
I love this! Would live in one :0
Nice! I'd love to live in one of those! Also what Is the music?
Imagine Mei Lee (the girl from Turning Red) controlling her red panda form and stayed in her red panda form for the rest of her life living in one of those.
I feel like these nests would be great for dinosaurs if they never went extinct
Would be so nice for wedding pictures
What are the songs used as the background music?
I would live in that
Does anyone know the song in the beginning?
Give this man a seed a year later there won't be a tree there will be a 50 ft bird nest
Who lives in them
*WhO LiVeS In ThEm*
Environmentalists everywhere are creaming their pants
Incredible
i hope he uses wood from already-dead trees and planting more trees afterwards
Very nice
Couple of years later.....
Archeologist : it turns out, this area were occupied by bird people from the past, as you can see from this exterior of this nest shaped house, and this size, there's no mistaking it, that or there's giant bird lurking around here
Oh I want to curl up in one! 💖💖
Do they lay eggs?
Humans kind of lay eggs. When they don't get fertilized and implant(word choice?) correctly.
I use pine needles to make nests at the park :>
That's impressive
Are these dead trees that he is cutting down ?
Looks like something out of a horror movie
