You got to be kidding me! This guy hooks a big fish on super light line and because of all his ailments wont or cant fight his own fish? You have zero business being on a tuna fishing boat. Not only did you essentially tie up 3 mates, but you also stopped the boat from looking for more fish. When the lead deckhand heard him say 40lb test mono leader, he looked like he wanted to toss this guy overboard. There's always one on board who is super inconsiderate, and this guy takes home that prize. When they tried to hand the rod back to him, he was like, Oh I rolled both shoulders, blah blah blah, Oh I only wanted to catch 30 or 40lb tuna. And at the end where they took a picture of this guy with the fish that he didn't catch! I would have been too ashamed to ever be pictured with a fish that other people reeled in for me. I mean he didn't even try! If I was the mate after hearing that he was using 40lb leader, and then on top of it he refused to take his own rod, I would have put just enough pressure on that fish to pop that leader.
Everyone is right. I dont have a problem with him using 40lb line but he should have done the catching mostly himself. The only reason that fish was caught on 40 was because of the deckhands' experience so the fish should have gone to the boat. a real waste of time for one fish if there was no other fish around. The captains on the East Coast would have just told you to leave the setup in your truck if they are targeting 50lb++ tunas, and may have just cut the line if just one fish on light tackle, also that bft would have been cut up and given to all passengers who wanted some. That guy was shameful=he didn't land the fish. Anyone could catch a fish but only real fisherpeople can land it. I,m a 60 year 5'4" lady, and I caught my 5 80-100lbs tunas all by myself with the only help is passing under the anchor last summer all within 3 hours, and that guy couldn't come up with a reason to not fish his own setup

I agree with your sentiment, but every boat has one and when I am shooting a video I want to show how fishing truely is. Check out part 2 Excalibur watch the guy block the rail while I am fighting a fish every boat has one! That is the point. I never met that guy until this trip.
since you posted the video publicy then you could have highlighted that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable on a party boat….that a..hole is lucky its not an open bite otherwise the deckhands just tighten the drag and horse it up until the line snaps so they can assist other paying customers.
