I remember as a kid seeing the screenshot of Terra and Ventus in Hollow Bastion and then playing the game years later and realizing that was NOWHERE lol.
Same. I guess that was a placeholder or initially, Eraqus confronting the two was going to be in Radiant Garden.
It does technically occur in the BBS game. In Radiant Garden (Hollow Bastion), Terra and Ventus do have the same chat like the beta trailer.
You forgot to mention how Ven, Aqua, and Terra were supposed to have their capes when they were wearing they keyblade armor, just like in the KH2 secret endings, but the capes were cut because the PSP couldn't handle it.
It would’ve been cool if they added them in the remaster. Maybe in the next game we’ll get full keyblade armor glory

@@TheKingdom566 in the remaster, for Terra's ending after the Terranort fight, he "does" get his armor cape from out of nowhere
If I had 1 nickel for every time square removed capes from their games due to Sony hardware, I'd have 2 nickels.

it's aIso worth noting how much more expressive character's faciaI animations are in the jump festa traiIer, especiaIIy when put side-by-side with the finaI version where even smaII things such as Vanitas's waIk are Iess stiff.
Makes me think tokyo team animated these cutscenes specificaIIy for the traiIer since the same case is true for DDD's first pubIic traiIer, where the characters actuaIIy animate Iike their KH1 seIves
I can completely see it being intended for the PS2 originally, I would love to have seen a PSP, then later PS2 version, for example, Agent Clank was ported to PS2

I always remembered the Terra & Ventus scene, for it heavily paralleled the scene between Xemnas & Roxas at the Dark Margin in KH2. Complete with walking past and placing the hand on their shoulder. Given how those characters related to each other, I can imagine it was intentional.
Actually I strongly believe the ape unversed was created for jungle book

Now seeing the "beta" of the command deck i can see why they had them switch focus to re chain of memories, they could use it as an experimental testing ground of the idea of the battle system, however it is pretty clear the negative reception of com's battle system did not help the osaka team, so they switched gears.
Something must've "clicked" between the entire team and so they merged concepts of the prototype, chain of memories, and kh2 to the final result we got
Ngl the beta footage looks better (which makes sense because it was for the ps2 and not a handheld). Cutscenes like terra facing xehanort, and the visual effects look cleaner.
BBS is my favorite KH game! I remember having so many issues getting it to run on my PSP, but it was well worth it.
So did I, but it turns out that I had to use the data install setting for BBS, but I couldn't afford to download it because I only had a 512MB Memory Stick at the time.
I remember in the years before bbs released, i tried to learn to read japanese so i could translate the text on the japanese website every time they announced new worlds.
There was also two images released/leaked around the same time as the 2006 TGS trailer that showed Terra in the Keyblade Graveyard while in his keyblade armor with the helmet cracked open to show part of his face.
Ooh. Laguna Noir would have been awesome to be in the Mirage Arena in the final version.
I still don't get the logic of not having Laguna in both Birth by Sleep and Dissidia 012. Would've been nice to see some story or alike involving Laguna and maybe Squall before he went by Leon.
I wish the build where the D-Link meter looked like the Drive Gauge and the Focus meter looked like the MP Gauge was the final build
Two things to note: Ventus has Roxas’s rings (even seen in this video). They fixed this in the English release but forgot to put it in the FM versions.
Jungle Book might’ve been removed because Neverland had a similar vibe.
I hope we get to see The Jungle Book makes its official world appearance in Kingdom Hearts IV.
This looks so amazing, it's so interesting, I wonder if it was still developed with ps2 quality in mind, before being changed.

This game was cut down so much needlessly. Almost reminds me of New Vegas in that way.
BBS could've used the Jungle Book world, Ever since I first played the game on PSP when it came out, I always thought the game was a bit too short and could've benefited from having another world.
Oh man I would have loved to play it as a PlayStation 2 game.
“Cutscenes running on PS2 hardware” makes a lot sense especially if you consider BBS:FM has KH 3D assets used in the original KH 3D trailer.
I can’t believe I’ve never seen this. There’s just so much to KH that you had to be there for.
Another thing is Ventus's face model is still Roxas's, they both have a different facal structure

It seems that story also got some changes, like they wanted Tera to be the main hero and the one survived while looking for revenge but it changed to aqua
Not gonna lie, i would have liked if BBS was released in ps2 too, even if it had bad graphics compared to kh2, it would have sold a lot, and i would have been able to play it, cause i never had a PSP.
I started the game on a friend's psp, with Terra's Story but then my friend lost the Psp 😭
i remember the scene where terra is holding an unconcious ventus back then and then when i played the game i was always wondering why it wasnt in the game. ofc i later realized that it just happened in a different world.
I've also heard that we would've gotten a section showing off Cloud's backstory, but in the end they didn't do it since there was already a lot going on (man 😔). In return, we did get Zack.
So close to having a jungle book world I really wonder if they would consider it for kh4?
Truly interesting and insightful video about kh bbs. Would have love to see more Terra cutscenes in that vale portion of radiant garden. That would created a nice call back with Xemnas first hood off appearence in kh2. That would explained why he choses this particular place, in this particular summit. Because he would have felt some kind of connection from/with Ventus, the same he did with aqua's armor in the secret lab !

the world was modded back into the remix but i don't recall it ever being removed from the psp
There is another secret ending for kh2fm that was never released but shown in a trailer at a private event. Terra has his helmet broken in half. Two screen shots exist but it's been years since I have seen them.
Originally Terra was the survivor not Aqua. This was reminiscent of this idea and plan sadly.
You forgot to mention that there was two other models for Aqua. A very early low poly model that uses textures from her CGi model and her artwork and the PS2 model (The same model that was used on the Destiny Islands cutscene to make her shadow).
Fun fact : Ventus from beta have the same face with Roxas and the HP spirtes

I do wonder when we will get any new kh4 trailers or news or updates on the game since weve gotten nothing from square in years to know when the game is coming out

I love remove and unseen content from video games. I don't know why, it feels like an experiment. Just wondering and exploring what could have been....

@@OhKayEl Doesn't matter, even by that point there was still a far larger install base on PS2 as compared to PS3 or PSP. And if it had made the original targeted release which is what we are talking about, it would have sold much better

I have a birth by sleep light novel I love it
It fucking kills me that Terra's controls seem more snappy and fun to control than the actual game, the same with how Flowmotion in the DDD trailers were more snappy and less floaty. And the fact that Terra seems more committed to the "I'm going down the evil path" aspect.
Also the fact that Aqua's gameplay is the most competent even though she wasn't even finished in the early trailers... And Ventus was only ready in the second trailer yet it's Terra that feels like he could use more beta-testing, even though he's the first one to have any gameplay being shown in trailers at all... How??? What kind of nonsense happened in development to give us this backward result???
I can almost swear that Osaka looks at something good they have and go "wow! This is fun! Let's ruin it!".
It was stated to be Disney being the side to order the changed even though Disney is known to allow the exact opposite for things they make themselves.

If I'm not mistaken there were character models from toy story found by someone in the code from BBS too.
Woody and Buzz were found in the files for KH2FM, supposed to be summons but got cut

I still wish we could have gotten the PS2 version of this game instead of the scaled down PSP version, it probably would have been a lot better. Also interesting note, this wasn't the first time we saw re-used locations that were later scrapped. I recall one of the earliest KH2 trailers showing Sora confronting the Organization in the caste gate exterior of Hollow Bastion from KH1. I was always bummed that wasn't in the final game.
Will you ever be covering the Better Battle System mod? or the pc version of KH1 Critical Mix? I noticed that there are big mods coming out for kh games but you arent really covering them anymore except kh2
I don't actually think the Aqua back thing is necessarily censorship, she's wearing a corset like piece, and a corset with just that little strap wouldn't be able to hold tight at all. Like I think the change just makes it look like a more functional outfit. was there some interview or something that pointblank said it was censorship or something?

It should’ve been a PS3 game, it should’ve been a wii game either. Good thing is it got ported to PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Pretty informative overall, though you missed on TGS trailer that also looks to have been the last one using the PS2 engine for its cutscenes. And the first to show Aqua, who has an even different design than the eventual ones on the PSP.

the GBA one indeed got unique charm. It's just more fitting for card decked games to be more simple in graphics, and that pixel art is indeed charming.
I've played both, but although I prefer GBA one, it can't be denied that the PS2 improve it alot
If only riku had sora’s spells and friends, it would have made the game so much better. Still, i feel as if riku is the better part of Re:com but still lacking a little :(
