Vanitas on critical is such a pain to fight if you fight him between levels 30-35. I beat aquas story at level 33 like nothing on critical, but vanitas is hard as shit lmaooo

For those wanting EXP Walker (such a broken ability), take a Blizzard command and meld it with Aero and use an Abounding Crystal. That's all. You can do this on all 3 characters once you get to Radiant Garden as that is where the crystals can be gotten from. Your welcome.

Or you can combine block (must buy a second block from the shop to meld with it) and curaga with the melding item that gives exp abilities to make renewal block with exp walker.
Hey Buns, I know you probably won't see this cause this video is now over a year old but I figured I'd make a comment and say that this video was awesome anyways! Watching a few of your videos got me to try out the Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 collection about 3-4 months ago and just last night I finished BBS and then finished Re:Coded this morning! It was a blast and some of the tips on what commands to use like Lighting and Fire Surge helped me a ton when playing as Terra and Ventus. Your hilarious and put out really high quality content and I just wanted you to know that you deserve more subs, attention and love than you get from your audience.
I've never played the game series before so your videos really helped me get through some of it's more confusing and difficult points, they'd made the series better overall for me really. Something I learned recently, the Peter Pan D-Link is used by speedrunners sometimes on bosses because you can dish out so much damage with it
To be clear, the D-Links are worth using in the PS4 version and they initiate immediately upon command like they're supposed to. I do recommend trying them, especially D-Linking with Ventus when playing as Terra because he gives you haste, turning you into a supersonic powerhouse.
Yeah I just started playing Birth By Sleep and honestly I really like the D-Links, I didn't find the activation animations that bad and some of the abilities are really good

I never got all the Terra hate because he's slow because I noticed really early that the Ventus Dlink made Terra a lot faster so that wasn't as much of an issue for me
every version.
Haste is badass, then stitch's d link maxed gives cp plus. Double card exp, essentially, for mastering those new extra drops skill, speed up offense skills, and getting your higher end skills, like fire\thunder surge, blizz raid, magnetga, curaga, etc.
Yeah idk how bad the PS3 load times must've been to consider them not worth using bc D-Links are kinda busted tbh

Lol I played 1.Ventus 2.Terra 3.Aqua cuz I was too excited to get to Ventus and figure out how he wasn't roxas
Honestly I feel like it makes the most sense to do this order, since playing as Terra first reveals too much of the mystery and kinda makes Ventus's story uninteresting by comparison. VTA has all the reveals in just the right places to me.
Ventus knows nothing about what's going on, and neither does the player at first. Finish Terra's story, and you'll just be frustrated at Ventus for struggling to understand stuff, even though only _some_ of it is painfully obvious.
I mean, Terra's story was clearly _designed_ as the one to do first, since it does most of the introductory worldbuilding and he arrives first at many of the worlds, but knowing his story spoils Ventus's way more than the other way around.

Terra is actually my favorite KH character of all. Also, I almost always keep the original keyblades the entire game. (I think I had to change to the Oath keeper in the original to beat NOT Ansem)

Stitch’s D-link is perfect to level up commands, so use it to improve them. Also, Aqua’s have cure so before u get that command it is great👍🏼👍🏻

I love it but I was super distracted by Terra’s mic quality in that intro.

I only ever used 1 D-Link often. Ventus, as Terra. becasue when you power up that particular D-Link you get haste, which makes Terra attack 50% faster. Let me run that by you again. THE HEAVY HITTER PUMPING OUT BULLET-SPEED ATTACKS.

I always figured the game is gearing you to play as Ventus first. You control him for most of the tutorial, and if you've played the other games, you already know he looks identical to Roxas, so you'll naturally gravitate towards him.
Also, the D-Links on the PSP were busted thanks to the multiplayer. If a level 5 Ventus links with a level 100 Ventus, Level 5 can use their commands, allowing you to use moves you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT HAVE that early in the game.
lmfao i’m a female protagonist fanatic. i would have IMMEDIATELY went for aqua.
Also, story-wise, Ven’s story sets up Terra’s because much of it is about the mystery of what exactly Terra’s been doing in each world, which Terra’s story explains to clear him of suspicion.

I love Aqua, she’s such a cool character. I did Ven first since it seems like the easiest route, hated playing as Terra, he was so damn slow
He was my fav certain commands he has fit well and is strong
Thankfully the D-Links load faster in the PS4 1.5-2.5 bundle. Which is good because if you're playing Terra and you level up the Ventus D-Link, you get Haste. So you get a beast murderman with brutal cleaves swinging his weapon around as fast as a rogue.
In addition to this, D-Links are a great way to get emergency access to cure commands if you accidentally run into a boss room with an entire command deck full of Slow and Fire like I did a couple times.
All of the female D-Links have at least one cure command even unleveled from what I've seen.
Plus most D-Links give you full invincibility on their finishers and most are huge AoEs.
D-Links are used:
1. When you are not Aqua & don't have Cure yet, then you use Aqua's D-Link
2. When you have Mickey and get the Double EXP ability to level up twice as fast
3. When you have Stitch and get the Double CP ability to level commands twice as fast
4. NOWHERE ELSE, EVER. DON'T DO IT.
One more spot where D-links are useful: When you're Terra on a high difficulty, level up Ven's D-link so it gets Cura and haste and use it on Wheel Master to make your life a lot easier.
Syrahl696 or ignore them and use the command board and in 2 to 3 hours you'll have all the ga spells you need XD
With Terra Aqua's D-Link is useful for mob fight if leveled early it gives you Magnera and Thundara at LV2 and Mine Square at LV3 if you don't like grinding that much this is usefull, also for Terra Ventus D-Link with Haste break the shit out of the first bosses, and for Ventus Terra's D-Link early game gives him Sonic Blade.
On the PS3 version with Zero EXP hidden property Peter Pan's D-Link first finishing move is actually the strongest attack in the game and with Mickey's D-Link finisher is extremely powerfull to.

Peter Pan with Aqua is used on critical mode to pretty much break the game. You're welcome.

I personally think Ven makes more sense as a first character. He spends his entire story trying to figure out what's going on, which is a lot more interesting if you haven't seen Terra's side of the story (which reveals most of what's going on).

I think I started with Ven because his sensitive self needs a hug and loving, lol. That mental breakdown when he first met Terra and Aqua and they asked him a few questions was sad but then there was a moment where Terra said something that wasn't so harsh but he broke down crying! Ven is my porcelain doll that I must protect and keep from chipping more than he already is.

kalgor Gaming Same. Except when I was Terra, I upgraded Ventas link for high speed attacks because Terra's freaking slow
D-Links are very situational. Using them in the first 3 worlds is a must since they instantly heal and can let you use powerful commands and abilities early. You can have cure, great finishers, Aqua's auto-life, Ven's speed. etc.
Using them in the latter half of the game is basically for situations like leveling up yourself, your commands, or cheesing a boss fight with peter pan.

Actually, D-Links are actually pretty useful early in the game, especially when you don't have Cures yet. With Aqua, you can emergency heal like you mentioned, but with the rest, you get Aqua's Cura. Ventus' Haste is also pretty useful when fighting early bosses, etc.
even in the middle - get radiant garden done, 5 abounding crystals. Do stitch's world, leveling the lucky strike abilities, and with stitch's cp boost, you'll be able to level your 20 other commands just to master abilities.

D-Links in a nutshell
You like summons in the other Kingdom Hearts games? If yes, use D-Links. If no, don't because they are the same thing.
It seems like the Aqua dlink is useful for healing yourself before you've unlocked Cure (I mean, if you're not Aqua). Speaking of which, dlinking heals you, so it might save your run if you're low on health and Cure is on cooldown, but you have a full dlink bar.
Timothy McLean Terras D-Link with Ventus is incredibly good. It turns Mr. Slow Baggy Pants into an unstoppable speed demon, at least in terms of attacking it doesn’t do much for fixing his lack of movement. Just slap a few combo plus’s on him and watch most somewhat troublesome bosses crumble under his flurry of blows.

I use the hell out of Mickey's D-Link for double exp when grinding
All D-Links give those kind of 'bonus' abilities (sometimes their upgraded finishers suck, so switch back to using their old ones). Ven's haste is obviously super useful. Aqua's D-Link deck has a bunch of mid-tier magic that lets you crush the early/mid-game. Zack and Donald's D-links are also pretty good. Certain Speedrun strats use Peter Pan's finisher with level 1-EXP Zero scaling. Mickey has EXP, but tbh just farm with EXP Chance + Mega Flare in that one room in Radiant Garden where you fight the robot boss with everyone, and add EXP Walker on the side.
The only issue with them is that they're inferior to your endgame surge decks, but for a good 50% of the main story, D-links are the way to go.

@ I can explain that. The reason why Aqua and Terra haven't aged is because time flows differently in the Realm of Darkness, and 10 years may only be 1 year. As for Terra, he was possessed by Xehanort and lost his heart. When Xehanort lost his heart and created Ansem and Xemnas, Terranort's heart vanished along with Xehanort's. Young Master Xehanort went back in time to get Terranort before he could regain consciousness and rebel against MX. As for Ven, I'm guessing that since he lost his heart, similar to Terra, he simply didn't age.

I had to use D-Link on Terra so that he had a chance in the Colliseum.
Using Ven's D-Link on Terra makes him 99% less tedious.

When I first played this game my boyfriend pre-planned how I would progress through each character's story, so basically I skipped between all three characters at once depending on the plot? IDK my boyfriend's a complete KH nerd. He also used a physical BOOK to help me with melding commands. Oh well, I liked this game! And this video!
I always feel like the best order is Aqua, Ventus, Terra it lets the story reveal itself to you slowly and feels more like a puzzle. Also when it comes around at the end and you go back to playing as Aqua it makes the whole game feel like her journey with the two bumbling idiots just sort of mucking up the plot in the background. I like it a lot! That's the only way I've ever played it and it's the way I'll always recommend it!
tbh it makes sense to some degree, but the opposite does too. also, rather than a 'full circle' approach, going t, v, a lets you do the postgame just continuing as aqua. but, then i prefer it T, V, A mostly cause that's how i stated too. power, then speed, then magic.
Her journey? How lol the story focuses more on Terra and Ventus while her importance didn’t start happening until the final Episode.

i absolutely loved this game, i flip back and forth between this and 2 being my favorite in the series... even tho Ventus felt like hard mode compared to the other 2 for some reason.
as much as i disliked the D-Links at first, you get some really need effects here and there like temporary invincibility and, personally my favourite, maxing out ven gives you improved haste, sortof tripling your movement and attackspeeds ^^
maybe cause ven is the fastest maybe your using thier ability of some sort to make (terra not as slow as he is lol)
