Nice vid! We live in south jersey and are well acquainted with PHL. About a year ago, we took an early morning flight from PHL to MIA and were delayed because the pilots couldn't open the bleed valve from engine #1 to start engine #2. They had to call in the mechanics to manually start #2 and we were on our way about 1.5 hours late. We still made it, arriving only 15 minutes late according to schedule, in Miami.
I've studied how to get to and from the us the us. I do have to admit, it is one of the most challenging experiences I've had. But then again it is one the most challenging yet good experience. The vid from the filmers point of view is absolutely note taking.
Love all your videos, keep sharing. Our last travel in US was 2019 october, celebrating our bday in Disney world. I really miss traveling. I love airplanes and airports. Thank you and I’m enjoying all of your videos✈️✈️💕
I love your videos. The best part of this one was that you flew directly over Virginia Beach. I live in Virginia Beach, about 1 mile from Oceana Naval Air Station. I could make out my little area of Virginia Beach. Thanks for the video.
Flying domestically on widebodies is a rare treat in the USA, generally you'll only find it to Hawaii or between major airline hubs, which is what this flight was. The B767 is an old but comfortable plane, however the lack of personal IFE would make this aircraft a chore on longer intercontinental flights such as to Europe or South America (pretty sure all international DL B767s have seatback IFE now, not sure about AA though...) Still, if I have a choice, for a 2 hour flight such as this, I'd rather fly a B767 without IFE than a B737 with IFE - mostly because of the novelty of it all! Great video with balanced observations. Nicely done!
the IFE on all planes - say 20 years ago - 1999 - was those screens dropping down from the ceiling. I don't remember individual IFE on a flight I took in 1998 from New Orleans to Bangkok (MSY-LAX-TPE - grabbed a flight leaving sooner via Hong Kong - the old airport and we could look in people's windows when we landed. I flew business class and was upgraded to first class - the very front seats of the lower level 747 - right under the pilots. Then on to Bangkok. China Airlines. Wikipedia - list of 767 operators - surprise - Delta #1 - 79.
Miguel De La O The first plane I flew with seat back IFE was on Virgin Atlantic in 1996, LHR-JFK. Got the last seat on the plane because BA cancelled the flight I was scheduled on and rebooked me. That first IFE system was so primitive compared to what we have now but I loved it! Four (count them, four!) movies to watch from the comfort of my seat! Yes! Still more than on this AA B767!
So do I, even if they are the smallest of the wide-bodies that do trans-Atlantic flights. I don't think that any narrowbodies go trans-Atlantic US to Europe anyway.
10:57 - "seats do recline". Yes, I'm sure they recline about 1 centimeter just like most economy seats on any plane, lol. 22:47 - 23:00 - the modern 21st century in-flight meals of US Domestic flights. I remember the 1980s when 1:30 - 2 hour domestic US flights gave us trays of full dinners 24:00 - entertainment options are better today, and we never used to get our own tv screens in economy
You’re missing out. Flying is awesome. And it’s not expensive as you might think.. And when you do book a flight, make sure you select a window seat (might be an additional $15 or so but worth it)
How long did it take you to learn the airliner types? Great video and perfect for an aviation enthusiast like me. I am more into the airports and the airliner types.
Not sure when you actually shot this, but the Alaska Airlines A320 N634VA (12 year old, ex VA aircraft) @4:50 flew to Pinal Airpark and was parted out just 12 days after this upload. Last flight Greensboro, NC to Pinal on 11/22/19.
10:12 - cabin is spacious. But not the seats. I liked the look of the business class up front, 1-2-1 configuration and plenty of elbow room. Don't worry, I can't afford it either.
I miss the AAL 767, not the inside but just the outside appearance . I always thought the seats were kind of comfortable though. Edit: At the time I thought they were comfortable, not now.
You're quite right. They were indeed very comfortable, given the diameter of the 767's fuselage, it only allowed for a 2-3-2 section, with a comfortable average 18" wide seat. Newer planes, they crame the seats in so much that it goes down to 16.5" seats, unbearable for long haul travel. I.E. Boeing 777, originally designed for 3-3-3 configuration, but American and many others do a 3-4-3. Or the 787 (amazing plane) designed for 2-4-2, but most have as 3-3-3.
Back in the 1990s, I remember flying on a Delta L1011 from Atlanta to Miami. I didn't think before then that L1011s did flights that short of a distance.
The 767 is obsolete because it uses 20% more fuel per passenger mile than the new Boeings and Airbuses. The 707 to 757 (707-727-737-757) were all single aisle except for the Queen - 747. The success of the 747 created the new mini- twin aisle 767. With only 2 engines it was the first to break the ETOPS rules (ETOPS means Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards.) I have flown it to Europe and South America several times. American is using it's final few as shuttle buses from the Northeast to Florida - a corridor that requires NO marketing costs, no glamor, no food - fly them full and fly them back full - even with the extra 20% fuel = cash cows!! But when it is very clear the interiors require millions$$$ for acceptable interiors they will sell them to leasing companies who run small 3rd world countries airlines or to freight companies though it is quite expensive to convert a passenger plane to a freighter - or at least a freighter that passes code for example European Union or USA. BTW - did you fly from Baltimore to Philadelphia??? Whose idea was that???? So are they hubbing the 767 out of Philadelphia - Baltimore, Buffalo, Rochester, Providence - et al -- all avoiding the $$$expensive NYC hubs - and filling those 767 busses! Damn good plan for all if fares are very good! And since I've got you - love the big type in the video. Some people use small type which requires a quick eye refocus and makes watching a chore - can you leave the type up for 2 seconds longer cause it disappears too soon sometimes.
@@MrMigueldelaO, many aircrafts from way back when, now obsolete. Many others, still active. Many new ones developed. Down below are the aircrafts that I know of from the past and present. 1960s - early 1980s: 707s, VC10s, HS121 Tridents (all obsolete since early/mid 1980s) 1970s - mid/late 1990s: 727s, DC9s, DC10s, L1011s, 747s, Concordes (all obsolete since late 1990s, except 747s obsolete only in America since late 1990s) 1980s - present: 767s, 757s, MD40s (except 767s becoming obsolete now) 2000 - present: 777s, A330s, A350s 2010 - present: 787s, A380s
Terminal A is so long in PHL, I've traveled a few times from border control, two hour walk I tell you to get to the gate to PIT. Worth the travel time though.
Bigger wide-body planes are flown for 2 reasons, for long distance flights and/or for flight routes which normally have higher amounts of travelers. I once thought that the wide-bodies were just for long distance and international flights, but after flying Delta L1011 a couple different times from Atlanta to Miami in the 90s, I realized that route popularity also determined aircraft size
