I wish they had split it into two 25 episode seasons, this was such an amazing series that I believe it could have captivated people for the year long wait.
yea i wish they had done what lost you forever did and split the show 😭 but the production team might have been worried about the viewership ratings since it is quite a big risk to take, to release the second part a year after the first ? It’s literally a testing of the audience’s patience, and it’s hard to be sure if the views would be as high as the first season, or would the audience have totally forgotten about the plot, and didn’t care enough to watch season 2.
@@ohmyloveisalieeeagree. Unlike kdrama that can split into 2 season/part, for chinese viewer culture its too big risk to take for the production team. The production team alr did the best they can by extending the duration to almost 1 hour, unlike other drama that has 45 min or less per eps
@@calyco2381 yep i believe you are right, i’m pretty sure the size of the market makes a difference, the cdramas domestic market is considerably larger than the kdrama domestic market considering it’s population, so it’s just way riskier to make such a decision because the stakes aren’t the same. if the production team made a decision of splitting the show into two parts, and failed, the losses would definitely be bigger in the cdrama market as compared to kdrama market. and yea, especially towards the end, it was obvious that episodes were getting longer and longer, the team definitely tried their best to complete the story. but still, what a pity, the show had way more potential if the plot and editing could do it justice.
I don't know how true it is, but I read somewhere that the ending may have been cut short as well, which is why things end in a more open manner rather than like in the book.
the ending was much definitely cut short. I’ve read the novel and the ending was literally a sad ending, but the show changed it a little and turned it to an open ending instead. also, although the actual ending of the novel was a sad one, the author gave the fans another “happy/ open ending” because a lot of fans were upset with the original ending. the show’s ending was similar to this happy/open ending the author wrote.( the author has said whether the fans decide to believe in the happy / sad ending is up to them) *SPOILER* and in that open/ happy ending, the tiger that tantaijin had was the one that prevented him from losing his life. whereas in the show, it was confusing as to what prevented tantaijin from losing his life. but unfortunately, because of the restrictions, they really had to cut a lot of scenes and thus removed a large part of the tiger scenes. (like we saw the tiger once or something and never saw it again😭) it’s a pity really, the show had so much potential, the acting, costumes, visuals, make up, hairstyles, props, set, cgi and all that was really good.
I wonder if that’s why I found the editing to be so odd. There were so many jump cuts, and scenes I felt were missing. I probably would have enjoyed the show more if more episodes were released. I’m okay with the show not getting as dark as the novel, because a hole was left inside me once it ended. 😢

This was the greatest drama I've ever seen. There's no mistakes. Acting, plot, outfits, directing. Everything is SO 100%. You can feel the cuts but they don't hurt the narrative. Having read a translation of the novel, I also think the drama made Tantai Jin a much more lovable and redeemable character. He's absolutely ruthless in the novel and he never gets balanced like Tantai Jin does on the last story arc. I already adored Xianxia drama but now I'm absolutely in love with these great artists and my eyes are in what they'll do next.
The plot is annoying though. It's always the old misunderstanding theme that's easily avoided.....especially the trust the MC have towards each other is easily broken lmao...
It had much too much blood, the make-up was harsh like a face mask and the lights have been off but I loved the story, the characters, the costumes and the acting so I am sadden that we didn't have the complete episodes as it was initially intended.
I'm SURE that the overseas market would shell out the money for the uncensored version on blu ray or dvd if they had ever decided to release it. I'm one of those people.
NO. I think that the overseas market who decides to be fans of Chinese dramas do prefer them for the same “censorship”, just like it happens with my friends who are fans of Turkish dramas. Precisely because nothing is preventing them from consuming more “explicit” content. Besides, this is a Chinese drama with mainstream leads who have to keep a clean reputation and who would have probably avoided a darker theme if present, precisely because, unlike Korean companies, their main audience does not have to be the international market. Moreover, as they explained before, some of his actions would have been unforgivable, and I do like that he (the male lead character) had a better redemption in this series, than in the original one.
@@nathalytoledo6323I agree 100%! No. Censorship board is STILL needed. Just not the way CCP style board like now. But more in open way like Japan or Korea censorship board, where they give rating instead of just cut out scenes that deemed inappropriate for children.
Seriously I feel like the censorship board hates when companies make money and are being difficult just to show they still have the power and because they can
The censorship board is actually right about those bloated dramas. It doesn't happen in Hollywood because of market forces. The actors are in a union and cost too much, and if they waste too much money on a turd audiences won't watch, they lose money. That's why some observers believe there are financial shenanigans going on in CDramaland. Even with a huge domestic market, something smells.
Its still hard for me to move on from this drama. I cant imagine what level of emotional damage it will be if i managed to get the uncensored version one. 😭😭
This is interesting, yes there were odd jumps from one scene to the next n it is true that the other couples lost screen time. A pity. I wld hv love it to be uncensored. I hv little idea the censorship is so tough in China. Thks for this information.
Ah. A lot of things make sense now. Especially in regard of the screen time and storylines of the supporting characters. I had wondered why the "brother" was never interacted with after the time jump. And the romance that was forming between the "forth" couple didn't really go anywhere. And the love story of the "second" couple was a bit sterile too. I see they did the best with what time they had.

Heh, I just finnished today Till the End of the Moon, it was incredible, amazing and sad.. Yeah, no one had a nice romantic time, the fox demon and that brother of Ye Xiwu, they had so little time, I can't believe it ended so fast, same with Ye BingChang and the other one, I can't believe how Li Su Su's biological dad just betrayed her, such a sad ending, I wish there were more things. Does anyone know when will Till the End of the Moon have second season? I can't wait till I see it!
This is a misunderstanding. They didn't lose time when they cut the episode count down. They extended the episode length to make up for it. There were originally 50, 45min long episodes. They then changed the count to 40, ~60min long episodes. So they took away 10, 45 minute episodes and added an extra 15 minutes to the remaining 40 episodes. Let's do the math: 10 x 45min = 450 lost minutes 40 x 15min = 600 additional minutes They actually gained another potential 150 minutes of episode time by doing it this way. Of course, not every episode is the same length, but they're all around the 60 min mark. Now if it was really suppose to be 58 episodes originally, that's probably where the big cuts came in. They didn't, however, lose content when they went from a 50 episode count to 40 episodes. I wish people would stop claiming that was the case.
only the eps at the end started reaching an hour. i was able to find the original episodes that were supposed to release and im telling you, a ton of scenes were removed from the ones that were actually released.
Jack synder cut more like Till the end of the moon cut! But in all seriousness I would love for it to have a dvd or digtal release with the cut content or a spin off to help the side characters.
It certainly deserved more episodes and after all that emotional suffering and blood splitting endures they absolutely deserved a good ending. Pity that tantaijin didn't make it. They made it leave a disappointment feeling to watchers ( who have cried too much throughout the whole drama) and a hint that true love and altruistic efforts can't save a person. Sad
But love and altruistic efforts did save Tantai Jin - he became a good person, he was able to make his own choice. I know it might sound mindblowing for Western viewers that a character can be happier as someone who sacrificed himself for the sake of others rather than being a powerful world-destroying demon, but hear me out: because Tantai Jin made the right choice, he didn't destroy his soul by evil deeds and he still has a chance to be reborn, that's how Chinese fantasy dramas work. It may be unsatisfying for the Western audiences (and even for a considerable proportion of Chinese audience), but persolally I'm so tired of the typical Disney plot when the character learns that caring about others is more important than, say, winning a contest, and still wins the contest at the end to make for a satisfying ending for the audiences!😅
Based on my favorite chinese novel: Moonlight Holds the BE Script. It is very confusing if you watch the drama due to so many cut scenes and doesnt do justice to the great novel. But the actors were great!
It was such an amazing series and I wish I could've gotten to see what happened to each character later on, but eeh.. They did their best, with what they had, though it would've been amazing to see the development rather than an open ending.
They could have done three seasons or even more and I’d have been fine, as long as they changed the horrible depressing ending. I still cannot believe I wasted that many hours of my life on that soul sucking horrid drama….it could have been my favorite ever so easily, though, with a happy end. 😢
My biggest complaint is why they changed the ending compared to the novel (according to what other people said). I hate when that happens because it affects the whole plot
They didn't really change it, they just cut it at the part where he comes back to life. When I saw the last episode, it was pretty obvious that it was implied that everything was going to be OK, because the dragon's scale helped to preserve a part of Tantai Jin's soul. And we know for sure from Mo Nyu's experience that although it takes a while for a person to repair their damaged soul, they do come back to life eventually.
I hope the board don’t start cutting down the episode no’s too much and we end up with the usual fast moving crap normal dramas you see on tv. One of the beautiful things about Asian dramas is the depth and feeling of the stories, which, in my opinion is brilliant and adds a different dimension to the drama.
I feel I might be the only viewer on Earth who thinks the show benifited greatly from these changes.😅 I loved that LYX's character wasn't a disgusting monster, I loved the compressed way the other couples were presented, and I loved the pace of the last quater of the series (which was most likely the most cut through). I wish the dream arc were a bit shorter, too, those 7 episodes were really heavy, especially when you watch it all for the first time and can't understand why those random characters even matter for the story.
The censorship of episodes seemed unnecessary and affected the drama's conclusion. Despite these limitations, the drama remained impactful, keeping me engaged with other characters. However, toning down darker or explicit scenes may have improved the story, allowing for redemption arcs without excessive shock value. Unlike some Western shows reliant on graphic content, I prefer the subtlety of censored Asian dramas. Not everyone, even in the international market, wants to see overly sexual scenes or gore and shock value for the sake of exploiting vain human feelings as a strategy. Which is something that is overused in many popular shows from the West, like Euphoria, GOT and such; it feels like they just CANNOT have successful shows without it and this is why I prefer censored shows like many from Asian countries.
I didn't finish this serie yet, I'm slow. I mean, I finished last year another chinese drama, I took 3 years lol, coz I was watching other stuff too then took a break, or started a new chinese show. It's been 6 months for that one, i think. But I won't forget about it. Need to finish Eternal love too lol
I loved the first 10 episodes, but the show became really bad after that. Like, the guy went on to become a really decent ruler in his own right (after getting rid of his terrible brother)...and it was hard to see him as a villain, or even as an antagonist. I need a show with a much more antagonistic male lead who has a believable character arc.
I was pissed off. A great drama like this, with such first-class actors....and must finish is that way? I don't want to watch anymore a "not good ending" dramas. I watched so many episodes for what? This and the unbelievable dramas with no kiss in it are very annoyng 😠
Everything was good, they only needed to add a few more seconds to the ending scene similar to the novel! That would have changed it from good to perfect!
The limit is good. CDramas are too long. I love the length of Korean dramas which are less than 20 episodes, and makes for a faster pace and more engaging movie.
I dunno if restricting episode counts can be called censorship, from what I understand they didn't have to cut stuff they just had to spread it out. The company decided to condense the show instead of just waiting a year It would be great if maybe Korea could have a similar rule to restrict episode counts, as they can go in for 100s and it's mainly pointless filler. Also US shows have an issue of them being unnecessarily long, and full of pointless fillers but I guess they do often have breaks. But still most US shows really don't need 20 odd episodes.
So what! Was the supposed to change if they didnt cut the scenes. Thats the only thing that matters to me. I was so sad cause of the ending. But the whole series was literally spectacular and amazing. I really loved it 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤Bai lu is one of my favos
I say yeah to less episodes. There's so many dramas to watch and I hate wasting time on bloated filler. Good story telling don't need million episodes to relay the plots. I don't need 2hrs watching a character eating, walking or sleeping. That's Stephen King's go to as filler in his books. If you don't believe me,just read Insomnia. In the 500pages, there's actually 100pages that's relevant. I learned to stop watching a drama up to the point where I feel the story is done. Save me a lot of grief. Love like Galaxy& Immortal Samsara have no business being longer than 30episodes. I started loving the story then turned to hate because it's too drawn out.
I think they should still release all the scene removed & episodes they couldn't as put in to fit the 1st season & put as S2 with the first few episodes as fillers recaps and the rest play out. Seriously.. the app is international anyways and don't need to follow China's rule.
what a stupid idea to make less episodes for such great story ??? i feel like they rushed to finish it but there is alot of drama who have boring plot with 60 or more episodes i wish this one have at least 70 episodes and showed more romance or stories between tantai jin or the prince with the older sister , or a lot of actions , fights and adventures specially in when tantai jin lived with his in law palace and after ye xiu returned to her friends after 500 years because i read the story it was great but i didn't finish it yet , i am glad that they change tantai jin and bian ran character because i didnt know who is worse jin or demon fox bian ran
One of the worst series ever. I dropped it. Extreme abuse towards the male, he cannot k-word anyone who is about to k-word him but must be like a Buddha for the greater good. Even in our modern era, we can deal lethal attack if our life is in danger. Just what is the series trying to promote? That we need to accept death if someone is going to k-word us? Nonsense. In no other series did I watch something this ridiculous. If you wanna harm someone, then acc to law, they have every right to harm you. With some mythical concept of evil bone wtv, the male lead is suppressed. Nah. This ain't it. If they showed him taking full revenge, I would have appreciated this series more.
Not being able to produce a series freely because you have limitations due to laws ruins EVERY series. Are such laws intended to protect consumers? Pretty stupid rules. They should look for other methods.

Are they ever allowed to release a “director’s” cut or “extended” edition? Like well after the original aired?
Tho I do like that they made the ML a more “gray” person rather than some toxic awful person that the FL falls for no matter what.
I hope the board don’t start cutting down the episode no’s too much and we end up with the usual fast moving crap normal dramas you see on tv. One of the beautiful things about Asian dramas is the depth and feeling of the stories, which, in my opinion is brilliant and adds a different dimension to the drama.
Whats the novel called?pls
Oh after crying buckets, i just jump to read the novel😂😂😂😂 and there.. The happy ending😂😂😂😂
Where did you find the novel in English? I want to cry some more, pleas please 😊
Hi what is the name of the novel series if that's not a stupid question?
Thanks
Black moonlight holds the be
Hagan el drama en DVD sin sensura y cortos, toda completa, sin duda se vendería, todos tenemos curiosidad por ver y saber mas del drama
I’ve never read the book…would’ve been interesting to see the darker version from the book.
Liked and subscribed 👍🏻
I feel I might be the only viewer on Earth who thinks the show benifited greatly from these changes.😅 I loved that LYX's character wasn't a disgusting monster, I loved the compressed way the other couples were presented, and I loved the pace of the last quater of the series (which was most likely the most cut through). I wish the dream arc were a bit shorter, too, those 7 episodes were really heavy, especially when you watch it all for the first time and can't understand why those random characters even matter for the story.
They are out lunch and they don’t care about the dramas
Only 43 hurts my emotional enough haha.... it was a sad story and I cried alot
Very interesting, thank you.
I wouldnt have mind splitting it into two seasons with one year gap! But still, we need a season 2. Where can we write a petition for this? 😅
Is it a novel? I'd love to read it.
Edit: Wait immortal Samsara got a drama!?
Is it good?
@@patrician3821 I believe so, it's been years since I've read it.
Well one of may fave Cdrama ❣️🌖
The limit is good. CDramas are too long. I love the length of Korean dramas which are less than 20 episodes, and makes for a faster pace and more engaging movie.
I dunno if restricting episode counts can be called censorship, from what I understand they didn't have to cut stuff they just had to spread it out. The company decided to condense the show instead of just waiting a year
It would be great if maybe Korea could have a similar rule to restrict episode counts, as they can go in for 100s and it's mainly pointless filler.
They should have done what The Longest Promise did, and snuck in several episodes that are an hour and 30 minutes long 🤣
I say yeah to less episodes.
Still amazinggg..
40 eps is too many for me. I prefer 20 at most.
I only didn’t like the ending
Same
Wasn't happy about it
Read the novel. You'll love the ending ❤
@@maggelaki thank you so much, I will do.
Gk
Nice try, this series just sucked and was a triumph of marketing. LLTG could have had a 6 month gap and people would have waited, hearts a flutter, for release day. But by the time a year rolls around the buzz would be done for this turkey and they knew it.
