Excellent video! I’m currently looking into buying a used 2004 300EX, any suggestions on what I should focus on while test driving or before purchasing?
Hondas rule. Can't break them, they handle a lot of abuse. I got me a 300ex jetted with a k&n intake and fmf exaust, thing is perfect for ripping around the woods, but im getting hungry for more my next move is to score a 400ex
You know i think you guys should amp up the track a little bit, make it just the track, with jumps and berms, then i think you guys should have like a trail/singletrack section. I think that would be really cool. Keep up the good/hard work
Nice video. I’d like to see the Recon without the racks and with aluminum rims and a little more aggressive tire. We’ve already got the EX, great machine but the fenders don’t offer much protection in the mud.
I grew up with a raptor 250 but my dad sold it if I still had it I would definitely bore it out if you can and add a nice exhaust do you know if you can add a big bore?
Great video! Just got an 07 ex that looks mint. Hope I can quickly learn to wheelie.... New to quads but wheelied most every bike I’ve ever owned... Spent the night changing all fluids, cleaning carb waiting for my battery, comes in tomorrow can’t wait! Also got a 02 400 ex from same guy for my buddy, next week we’re goin riding!
My recon was an absolute amazing machine… until she done hit a tree at 40mph. BUT I rebuilt the front end completely and it rips again. She may be a Frankenstein (2007 recon with a 2003 front end) and definitely not the prettiest anymore, but she still ripsss
Awesome video man! I might be buying a 2017 Recon for my wife tomorrow. She’s 5’3 and 110 pounds. This should have plenty of power for her to keep up if she wants, you think??
@@cwoutdoors4522 Yeah man, you were absolutely right!! We bought a 2017 Recon and Rancher, 200 miles on each one. Her little 250 Recon rips!! It’s just as fast as my 450!! I almost like hers better than mine! Lol!!
Badass my brother and I done the same thing with both 300s the sport quad is going to be a bit faster the utility quad is going to have more power pulling and climbing both are awesome quads
great video...For clarification, there are slight differences in each drive train..The EX has a little more modified head for performance and i believe gearing is slightly different as well. I have owned a recon for years, and like the EX, they are great super reliable machines.
Great Video. this give me reassurance that I will be happy with a recon and I will be able to do more, like camping and working around the property! Thanks
The Honda 250cc engines well 229cc’s have a good amount of power.
Excellent video!

We are definitely going to work on it but it’s not technically our land so we aren’t gonna go crazy w it

9:55 awww man that sounded so good lol
This is a damn great video gentlemen! I’m torn between the two for me and my 10 year old. I may get both!!!
Thank you! They are both great machines and you couldn’t go wrong with either choice in my opinion
Get both you'll love it
do you think a ttr 125 for 965$ is a good deal
Yea
@@rhettcastleberry3359 well i was going to buy it but then the next morning it was sold

Yeah I’m sure you could to a raptor 250, those machines are faster than a 300ex stock, making one faster shouldn’t be too hard
Awesome video. Thanks!
Both quads are great budget quads. You can pick up a nice early 2000s 250ex for 1200-2500 bucks
a 2002 TRX250TE or MT list a different cylinder head than the TRX250EX, will the heads interchange?
Unfortunately I can not answer that. I would assume so?
Can you show how to wheelie on the recon?
Yes I can do that. The recon we filmed was a friends so I will try and get back on it to make a wheelie tutorial
Is there a way to check to see if the ex front control arms are the same as on the recon?
Are all the 2002 models ex? I’m getting one tomorrow and hope it’s as good as yours.
Yes and good luck to you
@@cwoutdoors4522 thanks and your vids are AWESOME!
Jeeze a pipe wakes that thing up like crazy. Stock muffler feels gutless but yours is insane
Definitely woke it up for sure

I recently made a video on how to wheelie an atv, might help ya out. You’ll have a great time with it
how did you keep it up so long on the recon?
Rear brake and throttle

Can you put 250ex plastic on the recon I love the sporty look but have a recon
No they won’t fit unless you modify them
@@cwoutdoors4522 dang do u know if any would fit
@@cwoutdoors4522 like any sporty plastic
I believe there’s a brand that makes some after market ones, you’ll have to do some searching around

Oh most definitely. I own a DVX 400 now and even still I have tons of fun on the recon. The power is enough to feel confident with

I believe the EX has a different cam and or ??? Has slightly less bottom end tq but more mid a d top end power.
Yeah the ex has a different head and cam
i have a honda recon es and was wondering how much you got yours for
This one was bought brand new in 2013 for $4300

Thanks, useful info
Is the top speed the same
250ex is about 10mph faster
@@cwoutdoors4522 does the engine make the same amount of power as the recon
The 250ex has a little more top end power because it has a higher flowing head
@@cwoutdoors4522 so I have a recon can I put a 250 ex exhaust and jet on the recon
Possibly, I’m not entirely sure tho about the fitment
Good video
Thank you!!

Glad it was helpful!
cool track/trail.... all honda needs to do is add fuel inj to these..
Agreed
Disagree 👎
I would've liked to see a pull off
We totally would of but one of the machines wasn’t ours haha
right there at the end i saw you put your foot down and thats an atv riding nono
He’s typically a dirtbike rider, I said the same thing haha😂
That 250 recon I can Willy 5 gear down the road that other 250 is a piece of crap
Well that “other piece of crap” would take you to gapplebees buddy 🤡
Lol what? The ex makes a little more power and goes like 10moh faster
So it's not the same just the engine is lol
Frame structure is very similar, they are almost identical machines
@@cwoutdoors4522 Yes in the beginning of the ex but over time they have become different even though they have the same engine
