    Years ago I had a 1986 Honda XR600R. It was bored out, had an aftermarket piston with more compression, was rejetted and had a super trap exhaust, it was extremely fast! Only purest can appreciate the absolute tank-like ability of an XR. Had one years ago as a youngster, went 2 stroke, then 4 stroke and a couple years ago came back to my roots...good ole XR. Thing are fricken mules and take a beating better than any other bike I’ve owned. You can put stuff that suggest it’s gas in em, run “a” fluid for oil and they just keep going.

    I have a 95 one. Never misses a beat. They don't make them like that anymore. In 1999 during the ISDE there was a rider team USA that was struggling carrying that beast up hill on a narrow single track, he had broken the kick-start and ther was no way in hell he could start the thing. Had to give the man a push up there. Once gravity turn to his favour you could hear him ride the heck out of that thing. Not sure if he hadn't stole it, sure sounded like he had ;)

    You know it’ll never break down unless you punch a hole in the sump and lose all your oil. No fragile radiators, no hoses to puncture or pop off, no complicated efi shit. Even with all the cooling fins caked with mud she’ll just tractor on, even though it’s the hottest side of the cylinder that gets blocked with mud. Love the old Hondas

      I ride it a lot. It keeps up to the modern day 450. I live in the rocky mountains of Alberta. I've never thought to myself, this bike needs more power. I have never bogged it down on any hill. Torque! Guys sometimes give me a hard time that it's an enduro bike, but they don't know that the 2000 650R was the baja Honda race bike, undefeated... until of course I destroy them with it... bone stock

    Great riding and excellent video bro. I love that bike. Have always wanted a 600, since the 80s, when I was a teen. Have owned a 200, 250, 400, and a 650R. There never seems to be a 600 for sale, when I get the urge to buy a bike lol. I ride the 650 at the moment, but like the 400 better. I would say a 600 would be perfect for me. Awesome area to ride around as well👍

    Now I have a question for anyone who owns a 600 that has ridden the 250: is it much harder to handle and is it worth owning if I only do basic logging roads and trails ? Love my 250 but I end up pinning it full throttle a lot and have always loved the idea of a 600

    • @supertramp6011
      @supertramp6011 4 роки тому +2

      hunter john I have had xr 250,400 and 600,all great bikes,but honestly,the 250 was the best for gnarly off roading,400 for all round trailing,and 600 for ripping on road or good trails... the extra weight of the bigger bike will kill you in real gnarly stuff,but yeah,the 250 will run outta steam sometimes....maybe fit a big bore kit to your 250,a decent exhaust and a mild tune ,for more fun? Hope this helps,take care buddy!👌

      hunter john no worries! With all that said,I haven’t had a bike for a few years due to injuries,but I am seriously considering another XR 600.,as I do love the torque,and my hardcore trailing days are probably over! Nothing better than effortlessly roosting thru the gears on a decent trail,popping monster wheelies off every crest with a flick of the wrist! Just don’t get a 600 stuck in a river,or loop out on a steep climb and land on top of ya! Happy wheeling fella!👌
