I got mine today so I've only tried it once for a few hours but I FREAKING LOVE THIS SO MUCH. My almost 40 year old normal to combo skin was loving this.

Your review is perfect. I was literally applying this product for the first time while I was listening to it. Everything that you said is absolutely true. I’m over 60 now, and I just want a little even tone on my skin which this product provides, and a nice moisturizing glow. I used the shade finder and although I thought it would be wrong it was absolutely correct. I usually don’t spend this much for makeup But I’ve been wanting to try it. I’m really glad that I did and I highly recommend it.

I don't think you need a powder at all! Your skin looks a lot more healthy and radiant. The foundation really gives that plump, hydrated and even out skin tone. i LOVE this, I am going to buy it ASAP. I think a lot of foundations looks cakey, or ashy. This looks HEALTHY!
And ya know what else Alyssa? At night, when I remove it, my skin feels SO soft! Like I don't even need to do a nighttime moisturizer.

It's not reviews, but if you look at her channel, I've seen her do several WOC. Also, when she introduces products with color she will suggest shades.I remember her saying the pencils were clear based and wouldn't show up ashy on dark skin. I worked for her YEARS ago, she was the first mainstream line to carry a wide variety of products for women of color (I don't know if the BB line still does that.) We were trained on how to blend darker shades because WOC struggle with severe hyperpigmentation more than lighter-skinned women. If you struggle with that you can send them a picture and they can suggest colors.

I have not been inclined to buy anything Jones road but I really liked the way this looked. I loved the finish. I feel like it really did perfect in a soft and not overly dewy way. This might actually go on my list to try.
I love the adjective that you picked, Sarah. I think soft is really a perfect word here. It kind of feels like plumped skin after a hydrating facial. It’s not a very “made up” type of look. I didn’t feel like I should be pairing it with a really overly done eye or anything like that. Just gentle and soft. Great descriptors.
Thanks for reviewing this foundation. It caught my eye when Hannah Martin, former BB MUA liken it to the discontinued BB Extra Tinted Moisturizing Balm foundation that was discontinued but had a cult following. I did the online quiz and was told by Jones Road that I could email a photo of my face in natural light to get a shade match. I have an extensive history using a range of BB foundations, so was able to share my shade with them as well as with the correctors and concealers (and an old pencil concealer Bobbi introduced when with the brand). Definitely looking forward to trying this foundation! Hannah was asked if the foundation could be powdered and Bobbi herself responded yes!

I love that it’s her intellectual property and she brought it back herself. I am so pleased that they make it so very easy to find the right shade too. What a great brand!!

I loved this review - I've watched many many many reviews for this product the good, the bad and the ugly and I did buy it, I'm 47 and it seems in the last 2-3 years my skin has become very dry and very flushed or red - I don't really wear make up and if I do it's very minimal but when I would put regular foundation on it looked either caky or flaky because of how dry my face is no matter how much I moisturize day and night. So I just got this in the last few days and I think I actually love it, it is a very natural look and I like that I don't want to be "Made up"

Very interesting, Rebecca. I'm unaware of this brand as perhaps its not available to me. I do feel the need to powder so this may not be the product for me to try, but I've not heard of those pencils either and if they are like a corrector/concealer, I think that's something I could get on board with.
Hello Carolyn! Bobbi Brown has really taken her time with this brand. They have recently began selling in Great Britain and are slowly expanding so they should be easier to get where you are very very soon. Such innovative products, all with Bobbi Brown's minimal aesthetic.
This foundation looks really nice on you. Reminds me of that foundation, Bobbie Brown had in her line, long ago, Extra. I bought that one, and really loved it. Great for the bitter winters in the northeast at the time I lived there. Back then, late 90’s -2000, I wore Bobbie Brown cosmetics exclusively. That’s how much I loved them. Especially when the national MU artist used them on me. Bought the whole look. (I never do that). What I loved about them, is not how natural it looked, but how it complimented my coloring! It could be natural, or glamorous. And, I like Glam. Best makeover I ever had! This foundation looks like a quick and easy morning routine, you put over a serum in the morning for a your skin but better look. You might have to use a concealer with it, for extra coverage, but maybe not, for casual summer days in very hot Florida, this, and a cream blush or cream bronzer

And I remember interviewing her lead makeup artist back in the day. Just brought new life to the beauty space. Just so natural and forgiving. And she still has the same aesthetic. Refreshing really.

Thank you for your detailed description of the JRWTF! Your description sounds like what I prefer: light moisture & light coverage. I hate wearing foundation, but find I can no longer go without wearing any, as I have some redness here and there. What about sunscreen? I'm pretty fair, and can't go without. I guess I'll have to experiment, putting some SPF on prior to the JRWTF, and see how they play together.
Hello!!! With spf, I’ve been putting on a more matte sunscreen like the new Tatcha. And then I let it sink in. The only issue I have is using anything glowy or moisturizing with this foundation. It’s so incredibly moisturizing that I find if I combine it with anything else dewy or moisturizing, I can break out a bit. But that’s just me. If you’re very dry, it wouldn’t be an issue. 😍

This foundation / tinted moisturizer looks perfect on you. I think I like the idea of the whole Jones Road line but it reminds me too much of my very, image conscious neighbors. I know you know the type. Everything is done for a statement. I have a very blue collar, physical job and I just don’t jive with my other moms 🤷🏼♀️. Ya know ? Anyway, it’s a beautiful product. I can alway mix my Wayne Goss with Charlotte Tilbury magic cream to create the same look. No ? I keep it in mind but I’m still really loving the Chanel 1 Thanks for another awesome review.
Hello Tina! Oh I absolutely understand. The whole mom game thing is such a pain anyway. I never fit in with the other moms either! Seriously. And you are incredibly correct that you could almost put on a big layer of pressurizer and put the Wayne Goss over the top and almost achieve the same type of feel. I never even thought of that before thank you so much for your kind words. So grateful to have them here and for your support.
I just got mine (Medium) and usually wear NO makeup on my face except for light concealer and a BB cream. So this is definitely for me! Need to get used to the smell as this is my first natural face product. Helpful video - thanks!

Hello! I think, really, they are for different purposes entirely. So I'd wear the WG for a more polished, presented, full makeup look because it's a system and it's flawless with just the right amount of dew. This new Jones Road, I'd wear when I'm not planning a full makeup look, just a bit of cream blush and some mascara. Very casual. It's almost like they are related and this new one is just a bit more laid back! Hahah.
I finally got my WG foundation. Today! I really like it. Haven’t worn it for a long time. But it’s cute. I did see this one and I knew you would be reviewing for us. I’m listening.

A Jones Road representative recommended a powder for me, so it's okay to powder it down. Another rep hinted that a powder is in development, but didn't give a specific timeline. ☺️
I actually like it better with a bit of powder, too, now that I've been playing with it. Good to know they'll have a JR powder soon. I am sure it'll be a good one!
Bobbi Brown had a tinted balm that was discontinued - curious if it would be popular again and how this compares to it - I never used it because I was oilier when it was out. I have to be careful about how heavy something sits on the skin - even MAC face and body pulls my mouth corners down. I wish I had the confidence to wear minimal like the models on her website.

Hi, I just watched this video, thank you so much for your tips. I actually started using this product before watching any videos on how to use it, and I was having a really hard time with it. I had to start over many times with no luck. I did prep my skin with my serums and moisturizer and the foundation did not work well at all. I’m going to try it again with nothing under it and see how that goes. Thanks again 🙂
Hey Sabrina. Update me on your thoughts and progress. For me, this foundation works best with NOTHING under...maybe some matte sunscreen that's really been left to dry. If you have a lot of skincare on underneath, it's just never going to settle down and you'll get your hair stuck in it, etc. You can always powder it down but that's like ordering the steak at a restaurant and asking if they can substitute chicken. You know? Completely changing what it is. It's like thick skincare that gives coverage. It's interesting but has a very specific customer in mind for sure.

Hello Shannon. The it cosmetics is very very thick, if you are talking about the original. Much thicker and doesn’t blend as easily. Again, let me know if you were talking about the newest it cc cream. In that case, I have a review on it. And the newest product is a little bit more like a traditional foundation than this one. This one is a lot more like a balm, a creamy balm that you would put on with your fingers. The brand new it product, I definitely used a brush. So this is much more like a moisturizer and the brand new it is a little bit more like a traditional liquid foundation. Let me know if any of that wasn’t explained correctly or if I got the product comparison incorrect.
Yes! I wanted to see if you'd review this one. I got it and have only tried it when I went out with my friends to hang out for about 6 hrs. I have very oily skin so I thought it would't hold up. But I was VERY surprised. I used it in Porcelain. I did set it with powder and with setting spray and it held beautifully for the 6 hours that I wore it without getting overly oily (normal oils are ok with me, it's life). I loved it! It wasn't coming off or degrading, it looked like it would have no problem for a few more hours. I want to try to go to work on a 10hr shift on Tuesday.

Hi MJ, I've been matched to Porcelain but haven't ordered yet. I was wondering if you wear a BB foundation and, if so, would you share your shade? I wear Warm Ivory but am also matched to cool ivory shades in Lancome and Chanel.
@@traceyevansbuhr Hi, I am so so sorry, I don't use a BB cream. In MAC face and body I am W1, in Rare Beauty Skin Tin I am 16C. The site actually matched me to Fair but it is too dark for me. So I ordered both and Porcelain was the better one.

Does anyone know how WTF compares to the Juice Beauty CC cream? The CC cream comes in a tube but is quite thick and has lots of oils in it. It sits on the skin like a rich moisturizer and stays tacky (some would say greasy) for a good while. It provides very light coverage and has a natural botanical scent. I’m debating whether to give WTF a try or keep using the Juice that I already have. It sounds similar enough and has the added benefit of mineral SPF and sanitary packaging.
From what I have heard and from what you are describing, they are very similar products and if you like one you will like the other!
Girl lol I put this over top of after baum by glossier which I had put on earlier and omggg it was too much moisture for sure and I have very dry skin lol 😂 I'm wearing it anyway but next time I'll try it alone. I like the face pencil too. But it doesss seem expensive. Still I love the texture of the face pencil and finally, yeah I hate fragrance but at least it seems to go away once applied
Hello Lindsay! Yes yes yes. I totally know what you mean. I can’t even do my nighttime moisturizer if I have worn this foundation all day. My skin is moisturized enough and says no thank you. I absolutely love this beautiful foundation but if I add more moisture in the morning, before I put it on, or at night after I take it off, I get little blemishes. It’s actually too moisturizing and whoever knew that that could be a thing!

What a GREAT question. So the Water fresh tint is water thin. A true skin tint. This is much thicker almost like if the Charlotte miracle cream had tint. So, actually, a very different feel. Does that make sense? Are you on Insta? I can do a quick video showing the texture difference. If so, just let me know your screen name so I can tag you. 💕

One more question!! First - I followed your counsel and only prepped my skin with a light vitamin C serum (Youth To The People 15% Vitamin C + Clean Caffeine Energy Serum) and my skin is feeling grand - sooo much moisture!!! Perfect combatant for a dry NYC office building. BUT BUT BUT what about SPF? Everything I tried to pair WTF with ended in a full restart. Maybe a SPF serum? I have no idea.
It’s a great question, Tiffany, because this Jones Road product doesn’t really like to play nicely with other products. The only thing I have found that works is to start with a matte sunscreen like the Tatcha and really let it soak in first so that there’s nothing of it left on the skin and then apply the Jones Road. And this elongates the process, I realize. This product is lovely but it is a bit of a diva.

Hi Michelle! 🍁I agree, it's a pain for us Canucks. And expensive!! To get free shipping, we're required to spend $175. I do appreciate JR is rolling duty & shipping into the overall shipping costs, but adding another $20 on top doesn't appeal. This foundation would be $75 Cad. It's worthwhile messaging Shoppers Drug Mart (on IG or email direct) as they seem very responsive to product line suggestions. Maybe Sephora is too? It's not always possible for US based brands to move into foreign markets as it's very expensive (shipping, packaging requirements, food & drug regulations). Perhaps we both need to find US based friends that will help us shop! 😊

It could definitely be powdered but why work so hard to make it fit when there are so many choices out there for you! Money saved! 🥰
Thanks for the video! I just used the What the Foundation and love the moisturizing feel. I put the bronze miracle balm on top of it, and it maybe became a little too dewy. Did you experiment with using WTF with a miracle balm?

This looks to me to be very similar to the tinted moisturiser that used to be in the 'extra' range in the BB brand. I used to have it but I don't think BB make it anymore. It was in the same sort of tub as the Vitamin Enriched Face Base and had the same natural fragrance too. It was a very very light coverage and a little dewy and was flattering on more mature skin.

I was a *huge* fan of the BB extra balm foundation from years ago. Just received my WTF yesterday and can report that it is virtually identical in appearance, texture, application and wear. SO happy she added this to the JR line.

I really wonder why Bobbi Brown is not affiliated with the brand anymore. I’m not sure if I like the idea of a cream foundation moisturizer especially for the price point. There was a whole thing that went down with the main money source in her namesake brand. She wasn’t pleased with the direction and left. There was a non compete in place for some time and then this very small kind of niche brand that she’s started, playing only by her rules but it’s very minimal and definitely not for everyone. I am 70+ so would this be appropriate for someone with dry mature skin? also would the miracle balm go over this foundation and even show up? when would spf be applied??
Great questions. So the SPF would go on maybe after your moisturizer in the morning as part of your skin care routine and then just give it a few minutes to kind of settle in. And then you would dot over the what the foundation which would be perfect on dry mature skin. And then kind of let that settle in and add a little bit of the miracle balm over it. It would be perfect. The miracle balm with the what the foundation could be a little bit too much for normal skin but if you have very dry skin. No problem at all. Just be sparing with the foundation.
Thank you for your videos! I am so grateful to have these resources. I am trying to find the perfect foundation for my skin. I have oily-dehydrated skin so my T-zone gets a lot of shine throughout the day and my cheeks are normal to dry, but any foundation I try tends to dry my skin out and gets patchy and my large pores show. I like a medium to full coverage but I want to look natural, not cakey. I've tried Nars, Charlotte Tilburry, Rose Inc., many brands and they all have the same affect..dry. I prefer a dewy but not oily look. I also have fair freckled aging skina s I am 47. Can you recommend a foundation for me? Thank you!!! 🙂
OK. Let’s figure this out. This one might work for you but you would have to use it so sparingly that I’m not sure it would give any coverage. And if you use a moderate amount you’re going to feel greasy. Which Nars did you try, if I may ask? I hate to recommend Prada because it gets kind of pricey but it’s becoming more available and I really like it for its medium coverage and natural finish, not too flat and not too shiny. I’m also thinking Chanel number one might be a good choice.
HI! I tried Nars Radiant Long wear in Vianna and I loved how it looked when I first out it on and the color was perfect but about an hour or two later mt t zone and around my nose got oily and it kind of maed the foundation come off and my pores shown through and then dryer patches ar0und the rest of my face 😞Sephora used their skin machine and found I was oily light-warm intesnsity 2. But I dont know how much I can trust those. It also recommended Haus Labs 160 but they were out. Its so hard to find a good foundation for my skin. I love the idea of Jones Road WTF but it sounded like on your video, it breaks you out if you already have a skin care routine Anyways, thank you SO much for your qick response. I am enjoying your videos ;-)

Thank you for your kind words! I would say that this product is more hydrating than the Chantecaille product. They have their similarities but the closest thing I can compare this JR foundation to is the BB original product years back that was basically its twin!

This sounds interesting but not sure it’s for me. Do you have any favorites for both a tinted moisturizer and also a medium coverage foundation for a 38 year old lady with normal to dry skin with fine lines? I currently use Armani Luminous Silk but it’s been settling into my fine lines and just looking ick on me. I’ve never used a tinted moisturizer but I want one I can throw on and go. I’m overwhelmed by the options at Sephora. I need to go to Sephora because I always need help color matching, I am terrible and find their color match system to be so so wrong.
Hello Katelyn! I think, for tinted moisturizers that have a nice little bit of coverage, I actually recommend two. The Tarte Sea Hydroflex and the Urban Decay Stay Naked Hydromaniac. They are both very hydrating and creamy without going overboard as some would say this Jones Road product does. For a full proof medium coverage traditional foundation, the Givenchy new Prisme Libre is amazing as is the Chanel No. 1 foundation, or the Nars Light Reflecting. And that's across all price points too. 🥰

Hello Renee! It really is exactly like a moisturizer you would put on in the morning, the medium weight kind from a jar kind of like Charlotte‘s magic cream. When you first put it on you definitely feel like you have moisturizer on you. You wouldn’t put your head against anything or the phone. But within a few minutes to 15 minutes to a half hour you would have no trouble doing it. Exactly like that. Think of this as a moisturizer entirely but tinted.

I have been testing this foundations intermittently since I received it and every time i wear it my eyes burn Ike crazy 😞 I don’t apply it under my eyes but somehow my eyes are sensitive to it
This makes sense....funnily enough I just finished filming a makeup allergy video and it mentions this a bit, as the skin is an organ and soaks in the product, transferring it all over, and not just where it's placed. So something is irritating your eyes from it. And it won't get better. Can you return in your part of the country, world? Especially because it's an irritant to you, an email to customer service would hopefully help you get a refund.
I don’t want a “moisturizing feeling” to go away. Ever. So I might be the customer for this!!! I love these creamy types of products. Looking at the creamy texture in that tub makes me happy. Sorry, King Wayne, but I might go for this one. Now, the scent. The only “botanical” scent I don’t mind at all and would say I actually enjoy is the scent of the cleanser Purity Made Simple. Do you know that one?? If so, how does it compare?? Well, now that I am thinking about this, I wouldn’t call the Purity scent botanical. I would call it a very soft mixture of botanical and medicinal. Yeah, this did not make any sense, BB. 🤪🤪😂😂🥰🥰🥰💖

I finished it all up and replaced it with a drugstore one that’s just fine. BUT I just don’t enjoy the texture, the experience, and even the scent (GASP) as much. So I will finish it and then go back to Purity. So much for straying and cheating on Purity. Oh, well, sometimes I learn the hard way. 😃 I am loving this WTFoundation a LOT on you!!! Thank you!!!!! I love applying creams with my hands too. It feels like a mini-facial. I always wash my hands right before applying. I don’t understand why so many people find that cringe-worthy!!! 😃💖
Also, if you want a dewy extra hydrating product, the new Neutrogena Healthy Tint is incredible and provides more than sheer coverage. It made my skin so healthy looking. It's drugstore but is absolutely beautiful and hydrating

Hello Tiffany! Thank you for your kind words. I didn’t do any prep before this foundation. It’s sooooo moisturizing that anything extra, or even after I take it off, leaves me over moisturized and I can break out. It’s a lovely foundation but it’s skincare too really.

Hello Sharon!!! I know! We all, as consumers, hate seeing the same thing released over and over again but when the innovation battles happen, it gets very confusing. The many step Wayne Goss release really had people reeling. Will this bleed? Nope. Definitely not. Will it rub off? Now that is a good question. I would say yes and no. Yes, at first. When you first put it on it's VERY much like a moisturizer. Have you ever put on a moisturizer at night and you kind of wait a bit before you lay your head down on your pillow because the pillow will get a bit mucky with product? It's that feeling. But, as the minutes tick by, it kind of sinks in and settles, finds its place and then I didn't feel like it would transfer at all. And many viewers are telling me that just a hint of powder takes care of that entirely. So I don't think it CALLS for powder but I can see that it might just take the edge off it in a good way.

I love Bobbi Brown and happy that she came out with a new brand. While I hate using my hands to apply makeup and even skincare to an extent, I notice how many makeup artists (PML, ND, WG,etc) use their hands for foundation. I think we’ve had this discussion but I just can’t use my hands for makeup🤣🤣 It’s interesting that these sort of foundations (WG cream) would launch leading into the summer. While not a foundation like WG, it definitely would not hold up very well in hot humid weather. Like you said, if you have the desire to powder, then this isn’t for you. Bobbi Brown always focused on variety of ages and every day beauty, so this is right online with her vibe. While I am passing on this because I would reach for my powder immediately even though I don’t have oily skin. Are you planning on trying the Danessa Myrick powder balm foundation?
Oh you KNOW I'm excited about the Danessa Myricks powder balm!! I have two shades headed to me as we speak...I hope as we speak. I want to see what it's like just on its own, too. As for this Jones Road product and summer heat, I agree. I am not sure how it'll last without powder. Feels very much like a more fall/winter product to me, not that we have seasons where I live, unfortunately. But YES, it's SO on brand for Bobbi Brown, right?!

That’s a great question! I find this new product to be a bit more like a true moisturizer, a medium weight with a good buildable coverage. The Chantecaille, and I’ve only tried it once, is just a tad bit less slip. This Jones road product is very very unique.

@@debhauer3342 For dry skin, I would recommend the Jones Road. Generally, I would say that the Wayne Goss product is for a full look of make up. Perfected make up. Whereas the Jones Road feels much more casual and every day. But, if one suffers from very dry skin, there is no doubt that the Jones Road moisturizer like feel would be a godsend.

Hello Nancy! This isn’t necessarily meant to go over another foundation but I don’t see why you couldn’t especially if it were a skin tint or a tinted primer. Generally this would just go onto the skin and act as both a moisturizer and a buildable foundation. But there are no rules!

@@mariestopa such a good question, Marie. You’ll be frustrated by the fact that I cannot necessarily answer the question. But I will try. Such different looks. The Wayne Goss foundation is very polished and set. I feel like my face is flawless with just the right amount of glow. This new product from Jones Road is a much more casual look. I felt like I didn’t want to apply a lot of other makeup with it. It felt like a very natural look, like I had treated my skin and perfected it just a little bit. So, I would say that, right now, the Wayne Goss is my favorite for a full makeup look and this new product from Jones Road is my favorite for a very casual day.
I just bought it and it feels tacky all day. Emphasizes texture and barely any pigment. Unless you have flawless face this won’t do a single thing. If you build it up it feels like Vaseline. I looked sweaty all day. My hair kept getting stuck to my face. Honestly bbcreams are better
SUCH an interesting comment. I am preparing an updated foundation review. I have stopped wearing this one, too. Why? Because, along with my skincare routine, my skin got SO moisturized that I started breaking out. So the only way I could wear this was if I skipped my morning and night moisturization and I happen to like the way my skin looks with my current routine. So no need to change up everything just because of a foundation.
