    Yes, I noticed the wind noise too. I know on the first version that I don’t really remember ever hearing any wind noise with the wind muff properly installed so that’s a bit of a bummer.

    Using a little mic like this for better scratch is a great idea! I got an original video micro thrown in with my previous camera, and it may as well sit on the camera for a better backup plan.

    I mostly film car and motorcycle repair videos on my R50. I spend a lot of time talking from directly behind the camera. Is the microphone going to hear me well enough? I know it has a cardioid pattern so I am worried that it won’t pick up my voice well enough. Thanks!

    I have a canon VIXIA hf r700 camcorder and I was wondering what should I use to record my church Sunday service?

    Big negativ point is that it just got 110db spl instead of 140db on the first gen. That reflect in heavy distortion in windy conditions and also useless for recording loud car audio or drums
    Also voltage output is too high for many cameras which also lead to distortion.

    Thoughts on how this compares to the Rode Video Mic Go 2? Looking to purchase one or the other for a variety of applications, including indoor studio mic w/ comp, iphone, and/or camera, and possibly outdoor travel mic w/ iphone and/or camera. Thanks!

      Whilst I haven’t tried either hands-on (I have a VideoMic NTG) the flexibility of the VideoMic Go 2 shouldn’t be underestimated- I love having the ability to use mine in USB mode.

    Tell me, does dragging the focus point without pressing a button work on Panaaconic full frame s5?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому

      Not in manual mode no. They changed it so you drag a big then press a button on the back instead.

      @@GeekyNerdyTechy Can't wait :) I use a Tascam X8 which is on a Small Rig Phone Cage, which holds a battery pack, an Pixel 6 Pro and 2 Behringer 8500 microphones, as well as the onboard mics at the front. The tripod I use is a Mactrem 85" Tripod for stability and height. I can also use and have used the X8 separately and mic'd up the speakers on stage, and record the video separately and sync up the sound in post. Sounds great. The mic on the phone was the Rode VideoMic Me-C. Just my simple minded way of going about recording a band on stage, from the mosh pit so to speak, or a Pub table. But would love to hear other ideas? :)

    Did you have any issues clipping the input of your Sony cameras? I keep hearing that the Micro II is a tad too hot for some cameras. Thanks

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому +1

      I didn't notice that no. The preamps in the Sony camera I have is easily turned right down to low. It might depend on the camera.

    • @ChadWork1
      @ChadWork1 Рік тому

      @@GeekyNerdyTechy Thanks for the info. FYI, it has nothing to do with the audio level one sets on the camera. The mic clips the preamp input before the level adjustment, so you can have clipping even though the levels show far below the red.

    gonna be honest the camera mic at 0:50 sounded similar to the micro ii ,

      the camera mic was surprisingly good, although it was noticeably hissier- (though the Micro 2 appeared worse as a car was passing)

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому +1

      It's a good way to get some front-facing directional audio. The active microphones in my opinion are better sounding. I have a shotgun mic comparison video coming up. Saramonic also makes some great sounding mics.

      @@GeekyNerdyTechy so which one do u recommend for vlogging and even just using as a normal desk mike. I've only seen Rhode video micro 1 and v2 so far.

    What do you think of it compared to the original Video Micro?

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому +2

      I didn't love the original one. I think it had a buzz issue from memory. I returned it a few days after getting it. I'm not sure if everyone had that issue though.

    • @dragonrm5854
      @dragonrm5854 Рік тому

      I have the original and don't have that problem... but, I'm not really a fan of the original mount. It likes to distort it's shape and takes a while to go back to normal.

    • @cbehr91
      @cbehr91 Рік тому

      The mount on the original VideoMicro is quite floppy and often makes an annoying low frequency "thud" when it moves around.

    Unfortunately this mic is crap for vlogging. Even slightest wind gets through the wind protector ... $80 wasted :(.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, it's not great with the wind. I mentioned that at the end. It's a real shame as they make great mics. I wonder if they fixed this under warranty? Contact their support and see if they have a solution, Rode has the best warranty.
