Question. Did WotC ever say who Tamiyo promised not to use the Serra scroll? I took a break from Magic when Tamiyo was released so I don't know if WotC mentioned it.
Interestingly enough, if you look at Tamiyo's card, Tamiyo the Moon Sage, there are four scrolls in metal bands. I doubt that is a mistake by Wizards with Tamiyo currently having three scrolls in metal bands. So that means one of the scrolls was already used, I wonder if we've seen those affects yet. What is cool about this, however, is now we have a way for the Gatewatch to find out and learn more about the past events that shook the multiverse.
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, being killed by Nahiri would be the most interesting twist. For interfering with her mad quest for vengeance against Sorin, for his failure to help save her plane, she kills another planeswalker, Jace, who DID help save her plane.
last minute save by sorin who kills avacyn infront of him, then he forces the two to allying with him. Nahiri is a threat, but sorin made her that way. also just a note Nahiri's last ability says summon a artifact for creature. to me this means she is successful in summoning what ever creature, but either at the costy of her, life, or its only a temporary thing since that creature is later sacrificed by the ability, thus it is killed quickly or is returned to the aether in a half summon because our hero's shut down her portal
I wonder how much Tamiyo would like recording the events of the Eldrazi consuming her plane. Its just one plane among countless after all. Right. Tamiyo?
Hope next week is Sorin's timely arrival, I always enjoy the interactions between Planeswalkers the most in the articles and personally I really like Jace even though most other people in the multiverse seem to dislike him :P
To me, Tamiyo's disengaged curiosity seems far more typically mono-blue than Jace's righteous interventionism. I wonder if we'll see a blue-white Jace in the future.
honestly we already know that jace and tamio both live, because in anguished unmaking's art it shows jace and tamio watching this happen (note that this part was cut out of the frame when the art was put on the card)
You know it's kinda of funny how this story comes full circle with this block. What Tamiyo said to Jace about what would happen if he destroyed Avycyn is exactly what Ugin said to him in Oath of the Gatewatch. Again what she said to him about saving this plane is exactly what Sorin said to Nahiri.
mtg duels origins story says sorin kills avacyn and there by "removes the last magical protection on inistrad" maybe the only thing that is preventing the eldrich moon from attacking , thoughts?
i like the way tamiyos magic works, the stories were kinda funny, sadly they took away lot of space for the actions from herself, maybe thats why she seems so cold.
Serra scroll refrence - Serra avatar? sorin "made" avacyn - could it be similar to the avatar like effects of eldrazi? perhaphs sorin was able to figure out a way for himself to harness or more so manipulate...say emrakul (note that emrakul was depicted as an angel on zenndikar. See Shrine of the Forsaken Gods) ability to project a physical manifestation on to a plane. We all know that Emrakul is missing but why? Could it be the Sorin while assisting Nahrir and Ugin was scheming for a way to control them? After learning the basics of creating hedrons and learning about binding blind eternity "avatars" to planes. he decided to try and and control emrakul by binding it to his home plane however since his plane was not as wild and powerul as say zendikar he figured out a way to bring down a Prmitive hedron with great power made from his planes powerful, and not yet understood Silver Moon. I.E. the hellvault. Since Sorin noted to nahri it might be possible why her alarms did reach him was because of the hellvault maybe the vault is acting like a jammer so that the avatar self of emrakul was no longer being controlled by its blind eternitity conterpart but by Sorin who manipulated her form and made avacyn. Nahri will most likely be signalling emrakul to innstrad as a big f-u to Sorin. Using the power that was manipulated to protect his plane to bring about its destruction. The Silver Moon may still be playing a saving grace for now, Not allowing Emrakul to fully exert her power, I.e summoning her brood and manifesting/controlling her avatar self. The closer Emrakul get to innstrad the more influence she will be able to exert on it. Basically having now to be right on top of the plane to be able to manifest her brood and have full control of her own avatar.
I would like to believe this elaborate theory, but i doubt it. Wotc will probably just go with Emrakul being Eldritch moon and thats all. But i'd like to see something interesting like your theory
Clearly Sorin is going to show up. Anguished Unmaking's full art gives it away. Tamiyo holding up an injured Jace? Hmmm, sounds like 30 seconds after where we just left off.
My guess is that by the time that Avacyn goes to strike him down, Thalia, Sorin, and Olivia along either their forces will save him and chase off Avacyn.
Avacyn will be interrupted by another Planeswalker I imagine, I don't see Jace dying just yet. Not sure who that is mind you, it could be Jace's ex Lilliana, Avacyn's creator Sorin, Nahiri wanting to turn her attentions elsewhere, or those attentions being turned by Liliana's experiment with the veil. Possibly we will see a new Planeswalker enter the scene, Tibalt, or Garruk. I just don't see Jace dying at this point, he's been too central to so many of the stories to have him taken out by a non-Planeswalker, especially before the mystery is solved.
is jace that weak? i first met him on mtg duels of plainwalkers 2014 and with his intro i tought he was just like all mighty but here and even on zendikar i didnt saw him do much- was i wrong?
Jace just is not an incredible fighter. That is Gideon's thing. In bfz he was the brains. He can use magic to outwit in combat, but he rarely can brute strength a fight
I don't think Jace will die mostly due to the extended art on Anguished unmaking as well as he is the titular character of Magic the Gathering. I think it would make sense for him to die to allow a new generation of planeswalkers but Wizards will never get rid of their "Micky Mouse"
I really like Jace and he's been way overprinted. The best thing (to me) that can happen is for the hero to die sacrificially. That doesn't mean the end in MTG though and we know that; think Elspeth on Theros, dead but her essence still in tact and her Will still her own as far as we know. The death of Jace seems unlikely though as it would send Ravnica back into chaos as he IS the guildpact and there would have to be a third visit. He will, again, penetrate Avacyn's mind and cripple her just long enough to escape and will be forced to pursue Sorin's help probably making some sort of deal. Not sure what it would be though. A few guesses, help to recover Nahiri's mind from the, unknown to us, madness; retrieve the Chained Veil from Liliana, solve the infectious madness spreading across the plain, leave the plain and it's future to Sorin (though, it seems unlikely, Sorin seems to play well enough with others when their interests are in line), share the methods of the Eldrazi Titan destruction and team up in pursuing Emrakul. The possibilities are expansive. I think Sorin will show up to help though or maybe Jace will actually pull it off himself, he's shown some tact. In any case I don't think he'll die here. Also, I don't think that the Wizards would kill off Jace, their following would suffer a significant drop. They need to leave him alive or in a stasis and then leave him out of the Story for a long while.
Well, we KNOW that Jace does not die, as he appears with Tamayo in the artwork for Anguished Unmaking. I think that either Sorin will intervene, or Tamayo will use that spell.
How will Jace get out of this one? Will he become a candle lit by the fires of Avacyn? Will he loose what little of his mind he has? Or will he simply run out of loyalty counters? Find out next time!!! Same Magic time Same Magic...Site
I don't think Sorin will be the only one to save Jace. I think Lilliana will have been in pursuit this whole time and she will delay the angel while Avacyn is undone by Sorin.
+Kenneth Cole Wont count on it, Sorin doesn´t seem like the guy who destroys his own masterplan for protecting his home plane. Especially if you read the Akoum book where he interacts with Nissa, it wouldn´t fit his character, to do so.
you have to wonder what will happen to jace. I know quite a few people think he needs to die to keep things interesting, but i dont think he will die yet.
Jace will be saved by lilianna and she will say something be on these lines, "Put him down you disgusting angel!" And her eyes will glow purple, she'll use shadow magic that'll cast aside avacyn, then she will run to Jace who is almost unconscious and tell him to save himself. Jace the nice guy that he still is will be teleporting her and him both out of sight. And they meet the werewolf Planeswalker and they find out who is causing of avacyn's corruption.
So Tamiyo in Eldrich moon. Gonna be intersting, but what really exites me is this Serran scoll she keeps. Would be awsome if it would bring Serra there. She is one of the old Planeswalkers, that haven´t gotten their own planswalker card. Would love to play that XD

Haven´t heard what happened to her after that.
+scott Evil ah, I didn't know any of that lore. Didn't realize Serra was a planeswalker that created Serra Angels. Wow, there is an expansive story arch there that I knew nothing about. Thank you
Avacyn cannot kill have and because of the art in angui unmaking I believe spring will arrive and end her because it is showing tamiyo and jace in the backround with broken glass and burnt symbol in a too as spring ends avacyn in the center
I think Jace will mind blast her in desperation and the power flare will attract Sorin. Sorin will come in and fight the cathars and Jace will escape in the brawl, and Sorin will confront Avacyn and then kill her off, after a long struggle of trying to subdue her.
Anguished unmaking card art shows sorin unsummonig Avacyn and jace and tamiyo in background looking at this unmaking happen. So i am pretty sure jace lives and Sorin budges in this fight just in time to save jace.

Dipper: Who's that?
Seiben: The author of the journals, Tamiyo.
"Enough." -Sorin Markov, saving Jace.
You know what Tamiyo likes more than saving planes?
KNAWLIDGE
The story is getting intense! I read the story each week before your videos but I love hearing the story again. Great vids.
I just realized that Tamiyo uses her scrolls like magic cards.
Something strange, on the plane of Innistrad
Who ya gonna call?
SORIN MARKOV!
How Jace will be saved is pretty obvious. Anguished Unmaking Art.
Dood jace and tamiyo both appear in the extended version of anguished unmaking for playmats.
gotta love stories with answers that raise new questions, more questions than you had before
Question. Did WotC ever say who Tamiyo promised not to use the Serra scroll? I took a break from Magic when Tamiyo was released so I don't know if WotC mentioned it.
no this is the first they mentioned it
Interestingly enough, if you look at Tamiyo's card, Tamiyo the Moon Sage, there are four scrolls in metal bands. Sorin comes in and that's the anguished unmaking moment. That's how Jace is saved.
SO sorrin runs in kicks jace is taking more than a tap to the cheek this time... impressive!
Jace wont die from Avacyn because we saw a promo (i believe) playmat that featured Sorin destroying Avacyn, with Jace and Tamiyo in the background
I wonder how much Tamiyo would like recording the events of the Eldrazi consuming her plane. Its just one plane among countless after all. Right. Tamiyo?

Anguish Unmaking. Sorin busts in Terminator style and show he's a badass.
Well he's in the full artwork of anguished unmaking so there's no way he's gonna die here
Yeah the magic duels game story, has sorin saving the day.
was the rotting flesh Liliana support to break him out of this jam?
honestly we already know that jace and tamio both live, because in anguished unmaking's art it shows jace and tamio watching this happen (note that this part was cut out of the frame when the art was put on the card)
This full version of the art is on the champion mat for game day so yes it is confirmed
Jace lives... on the art of Anguished Unmaking,
I don't think they're going to kill Jace off... But I kinda hope they do

My Anguished Unmaking Senses detect a nearby Sorin
Serra scroll refrence - Serra avatar?

best story so far fucking love the characters they way they are the fact they really stay true to what they are
This is probably where Sorin enter's stage right:)
Hey SeibenMTG did you read the sacrifice story? its pretty good.
Clearly Sorin is going to show up. Anguished Unmaking's full art gives it away. Tamiyo holding up an injured Jace? Hmmm, sounds like 30 seconds after where we just left off.

also where is the FNL giveaway thing?
Tomorrow :p
+SeibenMTG the Wizards won't kill the magic poster boy
+SeibenMTG (=
+SeibenMTG ....
It's fairly obvious if you've seen the full art to Anguished Unmaking...Sorin will show and ends up destroying Avacyn
is jace that weak? i first met him on mtg duels of plainwalkers 2014 and with his intro i tought he was just like all mighty but here and even on zendikar i didnt saw him do much- was i wrong?
No, but he has been infected with the madness, disavling to think correctly
Jace just is not an incredible fighter. That is Gideon's thing. In bfz he was the brains. He can use magic to outwit in combat, but he rarely can brute strength a fight
Seems like the next lore will be Anguished Unmaking.
Doesn't the card Anguished Unmaking basically reveal Avacyn's end?
Also you mentioned Avacyn warded the whole plane. Perhaps like the card she will be exiled in a way to keep the wards intact.
I honestly think Jace will conjure an illusion of Serra which may distract Avacyn and allow Jace to wipe her memory and quickly get away.
I don't think Jace will die mostly due to the extended art on Anguished unmaking as well as he is the titular character of Magic the Gathering. I think it would make sense for him to die to allow a new generation of planeswalkers but Wizards will never get rid of their "Micky Mouse"
An angry and upset Sorin... and Jace being as curious as he is... oh dear. I do not see this going well.
I really like Jace and he's been way overprinted. The best thing (to me) that can happen is for the hero to die sacrificially. Well, we KNOW that Jace does not die, as he appears with Tamayo in the artwork for Anguished Unmaking. I think that either Sorin will intervene, or Tamayo will use that spell.
nah, she's not using the spell. its just Sorin's timing that saves him
Vess is there, she wouldn't let anything happen to Jace. My guess is they stopped short of her using the chainveil.
Hey is it just me or is the only option for the quality of this 1080p?
glad tamiyo made an appearance
very interesting lore cannot wait to find out what is next
pretty sure sorin is gonna save him. the gameday mat/ anguished card shows jace and tamiyo around the corner watching as sorin exiles his angel
i think due to flavour texts we know how this will end. sorin jumps in and unmakes avacyn
jace cant be killed by avacyn in one of cards it shows sorin killing avacyn and jace holding/ leaning (hes obviously hurt) on tamiyo
Jace forces tamiyo to use the iron scroll. breaking her promise and leading to something worse
one of your best uploads in weeks. i think that jace is too much of a main character to kill off like this. maybe sorin will show up to save the day.
RIP Avacyn
Rude Tamiyo! -_- also, he probably lives because of immaculate timing by Sorin
Strangely, Dack Fayden did the same thing- he saved people at the right moment on Innistrad!!
Mtg Snapcast yay, lore saviors
I would say the same, only with Liliana and an army of undead
+Ashley Trammell yep if you look at the full art for Anguished Unmaking (where Sorin kills Avacyn) you see Tamiyo and Jace.
+Ashley Trammell yup, I'm a lore addict ;)
Sorin's gunna have to save Jace's ass.
I can't help but feel the scroll Tamiyo has about Serra's Realm is going to be the one thing that'll revive Avacyn in Eldritch Moon. Must my guess.
The scroll (it said in the story) was about the great cataclysm that destroyed serra's realm, so... probably not.
Jared Reast Ah, my mistake. Thank you for pointing it out.
INB4 avacyn spreads madness into jace, and lilianna has to save him.
Pretty sure that Sorin will exile his own creation (hence anguished unmaking)
Sorin drops in and saves Jace by killing his own creation. I am calling it right now.
How will Jace get out of this one?
Will he become a candle lit by the fires of Avacyn?
Will he loose what little of his mind he has?
Or will he simply run out of loyalty counters?
Find out next time!!!
Same Magic time
Same Magic...Site
I don't think Sorin will be the only one to save Jace. I think Lilliana will have been in pursuit this whole time and she will delay the angel while Avacyn is undone by Sorin.
anguished unmaking sorrin shows up in a nick of time
Sorin is gona bust in and cast Anguished Unmaking
you are right
+Kenneth Cole Wont count on it, Sorin doesn´t seem like the guy who destroys his own masterplan for protecting his home plane. Especially if you read the Akoum book where he interacts with Nissa, it wouldn´t fit his character, to do so.
That is what made the unmaking so anguished. He would do it as part of his master plan to get Olivia's help fighting nahiri.
you have to wonder what will happen to jace. I know quite a few people think he needs to die to keep things interesting, but i dont think he will die yet.
Jace will be saved by lilianna and she will say something be on these lines, "Put him down you disgusting angel!"

+THEFlailips101 ''Anguished Unmaking'' full art gives it away
So Tamiyo in Eldrich moon. Gonna be intersting, but what really exites me is this Serran scoll she keeps. Would be awsome if it would bring Serra there. She is one of the old Planeswalkers, that haven´t gotten their own planswalker card. Would love to play that XD
Serra is a planeswalker? I thought angels couldn't be planeswalkers?
mikeawesome3 In the Artifice Cycle book 3 "Planeswalker" Urza stumbles onto Serra´s Plane. Like the original Phyrexia its an artificial plane created by the planeswalker Serra. Since its her plane its white and you learn that planeswalkers that create a plane, that is focused on a mana coulor takes a lot of power to keep it from going to the normal state with a balance of coulors. Since the phyrexians follow them the mana balance of the plane is disturbed and when they get back several centuries later Serra is gone because she couldn´t keep it up. Haven´t heard what happened to her after that.
Serra is not an angel. She made the Angel.
+scott Evil ah, I didn't know any of that lore. Didn't realize Serra was a planeswalker that created Serra Angels. Wow, there is an expansive story arch there that I knew nothing about. Thank you
mikeawesome3 I found a site where you find a lot of the novels as pdf. Finished the artifice cycle last month. Awsome for lore XD
This is really good and I like it.
"Smell of rotting flesh"? Liliana will probably save him.
Anguished unmaking card art shows sorin unsummonig Avacyn and jace and tamiyo in background looking at this unmaking happen. So i am pretty sure jace lives and Sorin budges in this fight just in time to save jace.
I honestly think that Jace won't die, from his printing in worldwake to return to Ravnica, I think wizards really likes using Jace as a driving point in plot.
he's becoming a lot like Nicol Bolas. while Bolas has not had many printings, a lot of things that have happened in the multiverse would have never happened if it wasn't for Bolas
Ashley Trammell Yeah, I think wizards just cant get rid of such cool characters.
Gordon Hewitt nah, not when people get this hyped over them. There's no way have is dying anytime soon. Same for the entire gatewatch, Liliana, and Sorin. Tamiyo is a maybe
I thought Avacyn Toke Jace by the chest?
What happens next?
Beauty fades. That's what makes it beautiful.
Jace will not be kiled by Avacyn, he has one of the five most powerful devises in the multiverse.... Plot Armor! as long as there is a story, he will not die!
Jace will not die, Sorin will come and END Avacyn.
+Billy Gellerstedt You mean he will UNMAKE her.
Do the lore for Kaalia of the vast please
Is there lore for her? Most of the edh set legend do not have any.
whats the point of carrying around a dank spell if youre not gunna use it
Just look at the artwork of anguished unmaking and you will know what will happen
this would be more dramatic if I hadn't seen the GAME DAY MAT for SOI. I think Sorin will come and save the day.
What if Garuk was tracking him the whole time to try to get to Lyliana and he stops Avisin so that he can get to Lyliana
i bet next week is Sorin to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!! and bye bye Avacyn
if jace dies ill be seriously impressed with the commitment to story line rnd is putting into stuff. but theres no way theyre killin jace.
Yeah, Jace's tripping balls
Tamiyo + Jace = Ship it.
I like how Tamiyo was like bye bitch you're dead lol I laughed so hard when he was like "help me!" and she was like"Nah"
You see Anguished Unmaking? That's up next, I bet.
Sorin steps in... saves Jace and kills Avacyn...
We need Undyne as a Planeswalker
@5:52 spoiler alert?
hope he doesn't die.. just hope he realizes he needs a vacation.
I wanna hear the mry origin story
jace will not die, because he's WOTC's poster boy
that being said, there seems to be only one entity who could save him... Sorin Markov
gets saved cause of main character syndrome. hes one of the main story-line so they wont kill him off.
