I refunded, first time since destiny release. It doesn't seem worth the risk just to complete the story. I will wait and see how things go.

I came back after hearing people gush and my friends gush over how good witch Queen was and yeah I bought lightfall so I was already on the fence about buying more from them and I was going to wait and see how the DLC was received but now I'm just not going to buy it at all. At this point I'm just taking it as if I lit 150 plus dollars a blaze in order to catch back up and play with my friends and I'm just going to look wistfully into the past thinking of the other games I could have bought instead of catching back up to play this... I want to cuss but I'm assuming UA-cam will suppress it.

I'm going to hit 4400 hours by the end of the season and I have bought every D2 deluxe expansion as soon as it's come out. The SotG gave me pause this time around, and while it was nice to see Joe come out and do his video, I was still going to wait until probably the start of S23. Now after this week? Bungie needs to prove a lot to me, or I'm going to be finishing up the Light and Dark saga by watching someone else play it

I find it funny that they said that they let go of people they respect and admire but yet they have also already said that they now have the “right people” working on the game. Hinting at the fact that they fired the 100 people that weren’t the right people to work on it. Sounds like an absolute mess to me.

I can 100,000% guarantee Bungie split Lightfall into 2 parts with Final Shape adding an additional year because internally Marathon their baby is so bad and behind that they had to somehow keep their revenue moving and at the same time buying time to make a bad game that Destiny 2 had to be stretched badly! They were really behind with the direction of the game that it was needed for the delay which caused Lightfall and its mess to happen. Let's face it Destiny 2's downfall is because of how Bungie had a lot of issues with Marathon. Reminds you of how Vanilla Destiny started eh!
I don’t think it’s necessarily that Marathon is bad so much as they knew it just wasn’t gonna be ready until 2024. Not saying the split was a good move (clearly not), but it was purely a question of timetables.
tf is marathon? The only marathon I know of is that game Bungie made in the 90's

I’m not a content creator so i don’t have as much invested as they do, but I have been playing since the beta like so many others. I’ll play it to see how the story ends. The FUN of destiny just hasn’t been there for a long time.
Facts bro, could be because I’m getting older as in I only really got time to play on my time and yeah I don’t got a group of homies to play with because low key rather meet up in person to kick it. I just play it because I LOVE SCI FI and the gameplay and the atmosphere is enough to keep me playing, I don’t take it too seriously but I still haven’t gotten the Navigator and I’ve been doing the dungeon every week lol

I uninstalled. Seeing how upper management basically punished employees for the mistakes made by upper management really takes the fun out of this game. It's kind of like seeing how the sausage is made and not wanting it after that.

Same. D1 player since the alpha, been frustrated recently with microtransactions & feeling ignored as a mostly solo player BUT this was an all put line in the sand.

This really sucks, me and my mates have literally been here from the start back in 2014 and this honestly looks like it may be the end
Lightfall was the last straw. I thought Witch Queen was a triumphant return to form (for the most part), but it seems that it was nothing more than the final death rattles of a game I once loved.
Right now everything feels like I've been gaslit for years and I'm pissed with all the good will I've given to this company over the years.
Honestly the one sure fire way to fix this is to just over deliver. Story needs to be forsaken level. New subclass has to be made not just 3 additions to current subclasses. Weapons and exotics need to be the best yet. Crucible and Gambit need to have a huge rework not just Crucible. Lastly the Artifact has to be the best yet. I dont see many of these things happening in the original release window and not even the "new" release window.
Haven't pre ordered and very likely I won't. I can find out how it ends via UA-cam
I was a pvper, I enjoyed the pve. I bowed out though after the continued lack of updates for pvp. I've become apathetic now to Destiny. I also think Marathon looks like garbage. It's too bad they didn't throw all those resources into Destiny for maybe even a new D3. Once long ago I would have been on that hype train.
It’s just a lose-lose situation. I’ve already gone through all the stages of grief with destiny and now I’m just apathetic. I will not come back without significant changes and I’ve been playing since D1 with thousands of hours of gameplay. I can’t just keep waiting for things to get better. This is the first expansion I did not pre order. I would love to support the devs and the studio but at this point I won’t be playing until I see some good reviews.

I stopped playing the game when they removed "The Tangled Shore" from the game. That was my favorite zone, and it pissed me off beyond belief to get robbed like that. I PAID for the game and to have parts of it removed feels like theft!

100%. My favorite was the Titan sea platform. It was small, but the windy areas that led to the Arcology were really cool. They not only charged me for that, and removed it...they then resold it back to us through seasonal content.
It's gross and I hardly have words to accurately describe how aggravated in Bungie it makes me.

Haven’t touched really since lightfall expansion. Hated the changes made to the game
Basically they brought up the chance of this DLC being good to try distract people from the fact that they just wrongfully fired a bunch of people including the guy who literally composes music for the game, someone who has consistently actually done a great job
Is this what we should expect from companies like Bungie moving forward? Employees becoming disposable and blaming the company’s failures on the player base? I really fear for the future of gaming. I was looking to become a game dev but this “event” really doesn’t do much to boost my confidence. If anything it’s pushing me away. I refuse to be treated like a slave by corporations.

I like what’s happening, we spoke with our dollars, now they are being held accountable. We thought the break from activision was good, but it hurt quality. They don’t come out with good content anywhere near what they should. They need help and accountability. They are now getting both, the game will get better I believe. Or Sony will take the game and give the property to someone who cares.

Started on d1 on ps3! Stopped a few seasons ago, I dunno but it felt like more of a chore than a game after awhile sadly. Big reason I stopped was the sunsetting then reskins or re-releasing a 2.0, 3.0 version of the same shit we had before.
Yes it has Im not pre ordering final shape and done playing Destiny 2. I didn't appreciate the way they handled the layoffs. I also don't like how the CEO's are taking a psycut or not getting any conqueseness because it's their fault not the developers especially with everything comming to light. I hope the best for the develop team left.

I uninstalled several months ago, and Ive loved the game since The Law of The Jungle video came out. I've been in and out ever since, sometimes id play hours and hours ever week, other weeks maybe only a handful. In the recent years I've noticed I havent "enjoyed" myself as I did years ago, every year seemed to be worse and worse.
Im sad to say I honestly dont even want to see what the final shape may look like. Based on the trailer or whatever it looked like a nice concept but honestly, it can live on without me. My love for Destiny/Bungie has finally died. It will always have a speacial place in my heart but it is finally time for me to part ways. Im sad it ended like this :(
I hope it recovers, I hope the employees continue to do what they love rather than what corps what, but I believe that this is a major inflection point for the community to assess the issue for themselves.

And yet, people think Final Shape is going to overdeliver. They haven't overdelivered more than once or twice during the entire lifespan of the franchise, suddenly with LESS staff and a mere 4-6 month delay on the expansion, suddenly it's going to overdeliver out of nowhere. Mmmkay.
@RedShadowOfSaturn it's amazing, many youtubers getting all indignant over some lay offs. Bungie posts some corporate BS about how another delay is just great, and many of them just roll over and lap it up.

They're delaying it because they have less staff, not because the existing staff are taking longer to polish and add extras, and fine tune. And with a longer than normal season, it'll take even MORE work to cobble together some type of stop-gap content to work in for the "I play a 3 month season for about a month and change, then log off during the season lull" people, who are going to SUUUUUUFFER if the season is just dead that long.

Having logged thousands of hours over D1 and D2, Lightfall wasn't the worst DLC (looking at you Curse of Osiris) but the timing of Lightfall, the near nothing of the story and general meh taste it left, nearly killed my interest in Destiny. Quite the achievement.

I never pre-ordered the final shape and still don't intend to do so also all this Destiny drama it's just too much so I'm quitting the game permanently. I can't have any respect for a company that thinks it's treasured employees are trash and can be disposed of whenever they want to and for management's incompetence.
I stopped playing a few months ago when the game was nigh unplayable and don't regret my decision.

They gotta let these themes create themselves. They try way to hard to give us some sort of way to feel about a new ally or area or enemy or anything. The magic of D1 was the themes felt natural and not ham-fisted. What do I know though I'm just a gamer.
as an OG halo player on the original xbox….I vested so much time into an amazing game, kinda don’t wanna go through it again with destiny. if this is the end, i probably won’t follow afterwards.
Only content drop I can think of is the return of old campaigns, this is the only way to instantly rebuild the trust but it is practically impossible
Dropping old content back into the game? It may be cool to play it again but that shouldn't be a dlc thing. It will also do absolutely nothing for the players the way they are now
After everything that’s gone down & bad / rough year the game has had with error codes , state of the game mess etc. has made me decide to end my destiny 2 time by Christmas.

It’s the end. The devs are about to be put through hell in order to push out an experience that is supposed to be nearly game breaking, and on par with major expansions in the past. In my opinion the only good thing that will come from this is that bungie will fail. Following the failure other games will have the opportunity to shine. Nothing will replace destiny in my mind but this company should be ashamed of how this is going down.
I bought the deluxe edition. Just because the collector editions aren’t anything special like the good old days. I remember in BO1 you would get a working RC car or in halo you would get a master chief helmet. If destiny started putting things like that in there collector editions then I’ll buy them no doubt. However until then I won’t be buying the collector edition for some emblems and notebooks.

I haven't pre ordered a dlc since the first one. Have put thousands of hours in D1 and hundreds into D1. But I have been let down for years. I only play it now to just play something with my friends
If they want me to play, get the D2 locations, activities and gear out of the DCV and put them back in the game.

Lightfall was the first and only game I pre-ordered. After playing Witch Queen, I was on a high and ended up buying the Deluxe LF bundle. Regret it a lot. But also, super glad that I didn't purchase TFS.
If they turn it around and make a good expansion, ill be there.

You are the first person to point out the real ramifications of voting with our wallets. People will get fired and sadly it isn’t just the problem people or hardly ever the problem people. Bungie is literally reaping what they have sowed after all these years and it is no way the community’s fault. I would also agree I think final shape is not in a….. final shape. I just don’t know if 4 extra months is gonna cut it.
I don’t think the layoffs will affect development. Bungie runs heavy by 10-20% over staff needed and avoids crunch.

I have lost thirty plus friends who play Destiny over the last two years because they saw and already knew about Bungies bullshit. I myself have stopped the last six months because of their bullshit l. It's been brewing for a while and if you are shocked right now then I don't know what to tell you.
The Bungie development team we all know love and admire is now really gone. There's no one left. All these new employees at Bungie have a very different vision and passion for games in general. An average Gamer can no longer relate to their "new formula. Fact's are Bungie itself has become corrupted. The people in charge have no clue or passion for gaming and gamer's. Unfortunately they are using the blueprints created by the prior original Bungie development team that is no longer at Bungie. Beating that horse for profit and getting rid of everyone who had any part in creating it.

I usually pre order the expansion with the four seasons way ahead of release, but Lightfall was so bad it just killed any interest I had in the game, and even though Witch Queen was well received, I didn't really care for it either.
I like destinations more akin to Destiny, planetary locations with signs of human and other species exploring, Neomuna was a neon atrocity, give me one good location like Ishtar on Venus, over several mediocre locations.
I haven't preordered TFS, and this weeks goings on have just reinforced my decision not to, it would be the ultimate troll by Microsoft if they scooped up all the redundant former Bungie employees and gave them work at one of their studios!

1. incredibly lack luster annual expansion release in Lightfall. What was supposed to be the Infinity War equivalent fell completely flat.
2. Blatant over monetisation. They increased prices all around and are still basically charging close to full price for past expansions of which the majority of the content has been removed from the game.
3. Horrendous new player experience to the point that many veteran players do not recommend this game to anyone new. There is a financial barrier to entry of around 400$ and the amount of grind required to get on even playing ground with veterans is preposterous.
4. PvP has been completely ignored for years with something like 2 new maps added in 3 years.
5. A stale and repetitive seasonal model leaves the time in between major annual expansions feeling all but pointless.
6. Lack of interesting loot being released leaves players not needing to play the new content as the old weapons they have are just as good if not better than the new stuff being released.
7. General distrust being formed in the community after years of seemingly ignoring player feedback.
There are plenty more but feel like these points explain the majority of players issues

Haven’t preordered since forsaken. Just haven’t felt like it. Also haven’t bought the next season as lost faith in Bungie.
Sounds like what we thought it’s not the devs themselves it’s their greedy upper management.
Will need to see core playlists get love (playlist exclusive exotics in activity cosmetics and quests), new strikes no more of this “battlegrounds” they are boring and repetitive, and crucible get dedicated servers.
I also want more exotic quests for armor and weapons that are secret missions like D1.
I do think for longevity though to shake up gameplay Bungie needs to introduce a new weapon type. Call it artificer weapons. The concept would be when equipped all other weapon slots are locked and cannot be used. The artificer weapons would range from primary, special and heavy. Their perks would be very powerful but very niche i.e. a scout rifle that suffers no flich and tangles and unravels targets on the 3 precision hit with rampage built in. But the penalty would be it’s accuracy while firing from hip and damage are decreased.
I completed the Lightfall campaign and did a bit of playing the season after but I have barely touched it honestly. I am missing it some, but I have yet to see anything that made me want to just suddenly buy Final Shape, or even jump back into the game. This is me being hopeful, but having both seen No Man's Sky and myself been through the turnaround that was FFXIV 1.0 to A Realm Reborn I think there definitely IS a possibility that Bungie can bring this to be a smashing success of an expansion.
But It's only a possibility. Really need to see what is going to happen over the next (roughly) half year.
I think hello games wasnt corporatized when nms launched the way it did so everyone bunkered down and actually made a game. If the studio was like bungie they definitely wouldve started monetising the shit out of it or liquidating all the assets

The seasons were just not how I want to play Destiny, at some point I let this stuff stack. Later I stopped buying and watched the content to keep up from a creator to then decide if I would then pick up a season and play. I regret buying Lightfall in all honesty. Strand is cool but my god this expansion was so bad on multiple fronts.

I will never ever pre order anything from Bungie after Lightfall. That totally sucked and I’m sick of being sucker punched by these assholes.
Bungie split a dlc into two parts, dropped a shitty placeholder, and then got suprised when everyone didn't want to put up with it.
As a franchise Destiny didn't have the best run, regular droughts and community retention being a fuckin metronome and the number of "we neeeed this second game or dlc to be great, we need this to be another ttk" I genuinely don't know what they expected. (Apart from 45% more money) but like fuck guys, stop shooting yourselves in the foot and maybe you can actually afford a blunder occasionally, but im so tired if trying to forgive this shit or hold out for something cooler.

Very glad I did. The game had become boring and very very repetitive. It sucks to let something you love go but at the end of the day if that which you love don’t bring you joy, just drop it and let it go. I wish them the best but I won’t be back for final shape either.
Looks like there are actually consequences for releasing a shit expansion and greedy monetization. It's just a shame that those consequences are suffered by the hard working ground level staff, not upper management
