Tail and Thorax Cover, Pheasant Tail Fibres
Rib, Copper Wire
Body, Pearsalls Primrose Yellow Silk
Thorax, Hare's Body Fur or Mole

I first used this fly sixty years ago on the Manawatu River down-under in NZ and it was very successful. I think it's time to revive your tie and try them on the Waioeka River. Thanks for your inspiration and wonderful presentation.

Hello Davie, I trust you are well!? This is a nymph very similar to one I tied and used on the river Alan and yes it caught fish. I think I will tie some of this pattern too ... will be good on the lochs too. Atb Jim

The Greenwell’s nymph covers so many olive nymphs. Even good on stillwaters both during a olive hatch or if that water holds an amount of olive buzzers. Either as a point or one up from point fly.

Yli silk is an excellent thread and makes for an excellent sub for the Pearsall's silk..I have attached a link to the Yli silk that I would recommend..It would also be worth shopping around as you could find a better price..

It does as it works really well when pond/lake olives are coming off and it will even work when olive midge are hatching as well...
