    You also have to wonder... is Toews illness related to the hit he took in game 2? It's just a thought.

      what pisses me off a bit is, that it's the playoffs. AGAIN. I mean, it sure isn't easy to be a player in the NHL, and god knows how hard it must be, when your country is at war and you*re working ON THE OTHER SIDE, but dude... you're a top-tier player the whole season long and suddenly can't handle it, every time the playoffs come around? srsly?

      As a recovered Addict I can really relate to Val and even relapsing. I don't know any addicts that just do the recovery process in 3 months and are done. But as a professional sports player with millions of dollars and tons of resources and support, I just don't understand how this happens. I also really don't understand the league's timing on this.

    I do have a serious question. So I know as fans we can sit back and say oh they don't care. Do you really think they don't care? Very doubtful. So if they care then what is it? Coach said the news is not an excuses which I agree but it had to be the reason. They just looked so bad as if they didn't care.

    • @paulwakefield1015
      @paulwakefield1015 18 днів тому +2

      they definitely care. they are definitely motivated. avs fan here and dallas IS the better team. we have not led the enTIRE series. dallas is better. no more. no less. we had Val and we had Toews first 3 games and we STILL got outplayed. i got way out over my skis and thought this season / team was special after the jets series. i'll take the "L" on that. just time to accept this for what it is and move forward.

      Imagine if you walked into work to find one of your close colleagues had completely broken trust-again-and didn’t have his crucial part of a critical presentation to secure a big account.
      Would you be able to really focus as though nothing happened?
      Players are used to dealing with teammates getting injured. They do often step up and elevate their game, though it’s often not enough. A Caleb Jones isn’t Toews and can’t replace him as though they’re interchangeable parts.
      Val’s abandoning the team two years in a row is something quite different.

    I get it, Val’s obviously going through some stuff, but the fact of the matter is he let himself and the team down AGAIN. Being an addict does not absolve you from taking responsibility for your actions. He needs help, I hope he gets it, but he should not be part of this team anymore. It’s sad but he’s proven he can’t be relied on when his team NEEDED him.

    hats off to you Rudo for having to talk hockey when the game last night had nothing to do with hockey. Those players were crippled by the trauma of finding out Val was out. The gravity of the situation, happening for the second cup in a row, is just way too intense of an emotion and a stunning of the mind. That's tremendous trauma for a team, no way they could play at Stars level, it should be a psychology discussion, not a hockey discussion

    • @timdowney6721
      @timdowney6721 18 днів тому

      There’s a contract that dictates how/why/when players can be fired.
      Probably the best they can do is trade him for a minimal return, while retaining a large part of his salary.
      That said, Val himself needs to get out of Colorado.

    • @dookieshoes2160
      @dookieshoes2160 18 днів тому

      Ya, hopefully this conduct is a breach of that contract. 3 times in 13 months is unbelievable, twice in a playoff series, one that we know of with an unknown woman in his hotel room that had to have an ambulance take her to a hospital.

    Well what did that hockey player do. Nobody said what he did. 🤔 Well maybe because Dallas is defense is really good 👍. I'm not saying it's over anything can happen. Dallas just has to continuing playing hard they can't let up for nothing. Because the avalanche could be very dangerous. I told my wife during the season the avalanche are up and down they can be really hot and then they can play really bad. House right.😊

    At this point I think it is a coaching failure. If you can't adapt your game you are going to lose at this stage. The next game is going to be better (can't get any worse, right?) but the Stars are going to play their formula again and I just don't see the Avs getting around that.

      @@paulwakefield1015 I hear you. Surely there are other aspects to look at than just coaching but after three losses in a row without any significant systematic changes or at least exposed fragilities in the Stars game, I would still think Bednar and crew lack an it-factor. There just is not any push and pull in this series. Had they won any of the last three games I would maybe be of different opinion.

      @@paulwakefield1015 Broncos showed up for those playoffs. The got beat by better teams. Not the same. This guy has squandered how many President's Trophy teams? And when it hits.... boy they just collapse. His coached teams just get embarrassed. Losing is one thing but showing no heart, plus making stupid decisions, missing assignments, unforced errors, lack of adjustments. When has he ever adjusted after a shift in a series? Most of collapses under him just happen in an instance and they never recover cause it is zero adjustments. Playoffs are all about adjustments. You are playing the same team. Dallas made adjustments after game 1 how they playing our PP and defense in general. What has Bednar done? In addition, you can tell how top line is disengaged and deflated. He has 3 players in Makar, Mac, Mikko who are top 10 in the world and those guys have been frustrated and MIA. Where are the adjustments????? sloppy play has been a defining characteristic of his teams. Contrast this pathetic Avs team vs the Nuggets. Do you see the difference how both of these teams respond to an adversity???? Enough said.

    Get rid of the NHLPA. They’re adults. Know better. You make millions to play a sport. Do it. Stop using drugs and alcohol as an excuse. Just ban the player from the league. “Player Assistance” is such a sugarcoat. Why not just call it the druggie den?

  • @benhammer7782
    @benhammer7782 18 днів тому +1

    That was the worst performance by an Avalanche team ever. They played harder in the lean years before Mackinnon was drafted. Almost half the game played before they registered their fifth shot on goal. Disgraceful. The ‘super stars’ on this team, have been absent the entire playoffs. The second and third lines won the series against Winnipeg.
    Can the Avalanche just forfeit game 6? It would save themselves and fans a whole lot of embarrassment. It’s obvious at this point that the players don’t feel like playing anyway. One more game to lose Avalanche, and you can get on with whatever it is you really want to be doing.

    Make a change and put in Annunen. The team will play better guaranteed. It's the psychology of hockey (change goalies and lose a top player yet you somehow play better...happens all the time). Leafs played better without Matthews and ended up dominating Boston in game 5 and 6 to tie it up 3-3 series.

    Elephant in the room is not Val. Stop it. Coaching is the elephant in the room, or lack thereof. Coaching sucks, players showing no championship mettle, no heart, no grit, no fight. Top players been MIA. Inconsistency throughout the season, dumb decision making, lack of focus and execution. Leadership in the lockerroom is absent, etc.
    I am pretty sure if we all saw the same symptoms in the NBA or NFL, everybody would be calling for a coach's head. But here, all I hear is crickets when Bednar has been absolutely awful and it keeps repeating, especially in this round. However, this team has been bad since the start of the season so it hasnt been bad only this round. They were up and down during the regular season.
