If you've lived in a ski town you've met a kid like this. Someone with poor decision making skills where you see what the "think" they can do and you know there is little chance this dude lives to be an old man. Curious where exactly this happened as I can't think of any place with a long enough runout before you hit trees.
Like to see the jump spot that would give him air to jump over moving traffic. Since the freeway wasn't shut down.

I met a guy like this in Banff. A few months later, he was on crutches after trying to go down a cliff that isn't even a ski area.

I don't think this particular incident was like that. Dallas Lebeau was a professional freestyle skier who had competed professionally for several years. He had a lot of experience and he had apparently spent a month planning that jump. It wasn't just a random decision or showing off for friends. I don't know exactly what happened, and I'm not saying what he did was wise, but let's not condemn the guy based on assumptions without knowing the facts.

When I started to get really interested in backpacking in Grand Canyon I read that the greatest risk factor to determine your chances of going to Grand Canyon alive and coming back dead was to be a male under 25 years of age.

When i was a kid it was only evil kneivel, and u didnt really hear about deaths, now its almost every day that someone dies over these thrill seeking trivial moments. Too much praise without balanced warning.

What a dream to live there. Epic spots literally on the side of the highway, just a hike away.
People do that on the Beartooth but you’re jumping from the high side to the low side over a couple lanes, much more doable than this location. You have to take physics into account too. You have to know your speed and trajectory on takeoff to even see if it’s mathematically possible to clear that distance. You can tell by how these guys talk they obviously don’t think about that.
