Hey Teej, you can't even imagine how much I need these kinds of stuff. I guess currently, I have an output-focused mind that depressed me in these days, when I read documents about Rust, about anything related to programming, saying "C'mon, stupid. Why haven't you built something that people use already?" I think this is a harmful addiction of mine, and wise masters like you and Prime help me to relax in these dark ages :), as someone who likes programming because of its mindset and community. Just wanted to say thanks! Stay safe.
A person's ability to program is not tied to making something that others can use. I learned this from the game "The Beginner's Guide". It was about someone who loved making games, but never once made a game for others to play. You only need to make something others use when it's your job to do so. Outside of a job, there is nothing about programming that forces you to make something for others. Your time is yours. Also, when you're doing your thing, and you start having the "c'mon stupid" thoughts, try to immediately follow those self-insults with self-praise. You are worth praising. You are doing things that are worth praising. You are actively trying to learn, and are actively reading in an attempt to learn. I have worked with people who don't do that when it's their job to do that. Yet here you are doing it when it's not your job. That's awesome! Keep going. Learning takes time, and how long it takes is irrelevant. As long as you are trying, you're doing good. If it feels overwhelming, try working in smaller bits. Sometimes taking notes can help. If it still feels overwhelming, take a break. You earned it.
@@peppermilldetective8154 I'm sorry but any responsible human will feel the need to do something that benefits others. It's hard to claim that you're good at something if nobody else sees it. You can't just pretend it doesn't matter. It's the mother of most creations, and it's a good thing. Now it doesn't have to be through being hostile to yourself, that's just another problem.
Had never heard of you. Wanted to try Neovim as my main editor next year. Found this series. Fell in love with Neovim. Learned Lua. Loved your teaching style and sense of humor. And then topped it off to find out you're family and we'll be kicking it in heaven one day! Fantastic series, man. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
I just wanted to say, thank you. In the last days I was able to automate part of my workflow in Nvim using things I learned from your videos. It's a wonderful gift.
I don't deserve you Teej. Thank you so much for this series, I just learned about NVim a month ago and now I need to get it in my veins. This advent of NeoVim really was the best XMas present I could have hoped for. That's it I'm gonna cry.
I'm not yet completely through your series, but I knew I would want to view this video. What an amazing message to everyone. Thank you very much, for your time, profession and great mindset. I wish you just the best anyone can have! Merry christmas!
Merry Christmas, my brother in Christ. Thanks so much for everything you’ve done this year to increase knowledge. By opening up NeoVim to me and making it accessible, you’ve revolutionised the way I work. I’m now excited to get into work on Monday morning! God bless you.
This was a great series, not just for learning Neovim but for learning, period. And this message rounds the series off perfectly. The most important way of encouraging proper learning, as opposed to AI or copy-pasting, is to make it fun; and you’ve done that. Thank you.
You the man Teej! This series has helped me reconfigure my nvim setup from scratch, allowing me to remove some redundant code and get things working in a much nicer manner (with fewer errors too!). The cherry on the cake is that I learnt more along the way and feel more capable tweaking things to my liking. Anyway, hope you have a nice Christmas with your family and I look forward to more content in the new year ❤
started advent of nvim on day 20 because i thought that I already knew everything. And ohhhh boy was I wrong, just by watching a few of your episodes i gained a much better understanding of neovim. Thanks teeej
Thank you for the initiative. Simplified my Neovim startup a little bit. It's always good to revisit the configs and get rid of some of the abstraction introduced my plugins.
Your series of videos is like a Christmas gift of a whole box of LEGO bricks; I can't wait to build a castle in my Neovim. Thank you for your creations and Merry Christmas~
To make it vim - the relationship with him, and to get rid of all that sin because I want to win. Thanks for showing me Neovim whilst working on Neome.
Well darn, now that I know you're a brother in Christ, I can no longer get upset that you're a Michigan fan. Some things are WAY more important than others. (Ohio State fan, obviously.)
Thank you, TJ 4 that gift. I had a hard time this holiday, but at least I'm ready to study new things in hope of also being able to have nice holidays next year. Thanks
Thank you so much for this series, it's honestly a great way to wrap up the year while setting the stage for the next one :D I'll be sharing this series whenever I get the chance. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you, too! And thank you for all the inspirations. I loved the floaterminal, by the way, and also made floatnotes with neorg in a floating window and I'm trying to put fugitive in a floating window. Great stuff. Could you do another Advent of neovim next year? And maybe start a little earlier next time. Like, in January?
Enjoy your Christmas! Loved the series - thank so much for being such a positive force in the community. It's made a huge difference in my life the past year.
Btw, did this year's AoC in OCaml, quite proud of 13 days fully solved in it, considering that this was my first time writing OCaml. Shilling works, teej! Also, quick tip - for the first two days I used ReasonML and it really helped me accommodate the mindset, and then allowed switching to foreign syntax of OCaml a bit easier, since I was familiar with the semantics already
Hey man, here from Brazil I want to thank you for all the content, all the talks, you really help people and its GREAT. A lot. See u next year :D bests!
That`s was a great serie, learned a lot. Merry Christmas! I'm still not ready to replace vscode tough, I made a lot of bindings based off neovim there to get used to it. The only thing I can`t replace is the ctrl+shift+f, telescope does help a lot, but I don't always wanna to do fuzzy findings. I want to do simple regexs more than anything, and include/exclude patterns with history by workspace. I'll try to write a plugin for this, but I think that is the main thing holding me back atm.
Also no one thinks they can’t do it I think, it’s just the pain of doing the boring bits lol, but it makes no difference to you general point. Your right

Hey TJ thanks for the video and all the content you’re putting out.
I’ve switched to nvim for developement, but im having an issue where when I have split my window and tab elsewhere my console goes blank until I either fullscreen or move the cursor to that line. I’m using iterm 2 on macOS and followed your nvim guide
This issue persists until I do a hard restart and makes it rather impossible to use nvim.
I can’t find anyone facing similar issues, any ideas how to proceed ?
Merry Christmas
Thanks, finally made my own config and I love it, all thanks to you, Merry Christmas
