Finally mga Tangay, we can share with you the full video of our Home Build Journey here in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.
My husband Albert, who worked as a Senior QAQC Engineer and Site Engineer in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, oversaw the whole project. He designed the house while we were still working in Dubai as OFWs in 2019. He graciously took into account my request-a simple WHITE and kinda ‘wood’ house. (Thanks Ikea for the inspo!) I don’t like modern design, just classic white with a simple façade, nothing fancy really.
Minimalist is the way to go. 🥰
We got our Building Permit in February 2020 but didn’t get to start the build until May 2020 because of the Covid 19 pandemic restrictions. We had a small (and awesome) Team from the beginning and gradually added a few for certain portions of the build like the painting works and all. We also had instances when we had to let go of some of our team members due to grave misconduct, hence we worked with a smaller team for a time.
I initially didn’t want to do a House Tour because if privacy and security issues but we figured maybe you’d want to see the finished product as well.
All glory to GOD for making this Home Build possible! HE is the reason why we called this house Balai Biyaya because it was built All By God’s Grace. ☺

I do house renovation in America. I would like to suggest if you don't mind, I think a bigger chandelier on top of your staircase would be beautiful. Also, if you could add nice cabinet handles on your kitchen cabinet doors. If you could change your cabinet handles in the master bathroom into black ones to match your black faucet and shower head.

I am currently OFW here in Saudi Arabia and have a lot bought in Puerto Princesa almost 2 decades ago.. Planning also to build an apartment units.. Marami ako natutunan sa mga videos mo particularly sa tips ng OFW mula Australia na nagpatayo ng apartment building sa inyo.. Yeah, a bigger kitchen wouls have been better. Our kitchen was supposed to be bigger but we had to adjust the living space. But don't worry, we have provision for a dirty kitchen beside the Lanai. We'll build it once we've saved up funds for it. 😊
I think they plan to put a dirty kitchen (which will be an open-roofed space) just across the kitchen door since malaki pa naman available space outside. Sa ganitong setting kasi, same dito samin sa province, maganda parin gamitin firewood for cooking. Seldom lang gagamit ng gas. It helps to have a couple of options when cooking.

PPS, is it less expensive per sq meter to build the same floor area in in two story versus single story?
Just an observation, some doors has round handles and some no...how come? Also why did U put the white skim coating and not paint the wall directly? I love the doors and the kitchens cabinets look really nice/elegant. Nice finish. 300m2 is HUGE. Congrats, hope we can build ours in 20 minutes. :)

Hi Rosanna! So sorry for the late reply ha. Nakakataba ng puso na kinoconsider niyo si Abet 🥰. Bale tinanong ko rin siya about it and he said it is best to hire professionals in your area for your benefit. Best kasi na mabisita ang site conditions ng architect or engineer before mag-start ng design process. Also, kapag may mga revisions na irequire ang Office of the Building Official sa drawings and all, mas madali niyo marereach ang mga nagdrawing and gumawa ng plano niyo. Mas beneficial for you. Now I understand na may ibang professionals from other places who do drawings etc, siguro may diskarte na sila doon. Pero kami, we still push for the optimum benefits for the client. 😊

Hello bro! Yes po wala pong grills kasi pinagbawal po ng Bureau of Fire Protection. Pina-sign kami sa Occupancy na 'wag maglagay ng grills dahil in the event of a fire, dapat daw makakalabas pa rin ang tao. Pero yun nga lang may risk na manakawan. Nawa hindi naman. 🙏

Hello po! It took roughly 10 months due to the pandemic. We started the build on May 4, 2020, and we moved in on Feb 21, 2021. It was completely finished (except for the pocket garden, lanai) by around early March 2021. It was the height of the curfews, lockdowns, and all during the pandemic, so there were times when we had to close the site. There were times when our staff got stuck in their hometowns after spending the weekend there. There were issues of materials shortage, too, as shipping and logistics were affected as well. We started with 4 team members and an average of 8 workers. During the finishing stage, we hired 4 more people (2painters and their 2 helpers). Praise God we were able to finish it still. Oh thanks, Russell! 😊 oh no it's not a TV! 😅 It's glass that you can push to the side and back. It's a cover supposedly for the TV inside. But we don't have TV at home. We don't watch TV so we don't need one. 😅

Hi Joy! Thanks for watching! :) Bale kinwento ko ang start sa Description box. pero we started in May 2020 and we completed it in 10 months give or take. Pero marami sa time na yun ay nagclose kami ng site and stop work for various reasons: nung nag-ECQ dito, tapos nung nagkaroon ng security risk sa site nung may nagmaoy,, sinarado rin namin site, tapos nung 10-day Christmas break. As for the cost, husband ko kasi nakakalam. Ayaw sabihin sakin. :)

Hi Camzie! My husband is a licensed civil engr and he was the one who led the build. We started May 2020 and moved in by Feb 2021. We still had some additional works then for about a month. Total cost was about P3.8M, fence included. Thanks for watching!

Hi Pido! Thanks for watching! :) As for my husband po, he prefers the conventional two-way slab daw. We live near the sea, ang lapit po ng Balai namin ang seashore mga 2km lang so rusting would be an issue plus additional fireproofing pa po. Tapos mahihirapan din kami sa mobilization, extra cost pa siya sa amin since small contractor lang kami. Masikip din dito sa area namin kaya di possible for that. Ayun po, kaya niya nadecidan na conventional nalang. And yun din yung madalas nilang gawin sa Dubai.
