If you're considering exploring it yourself, drop a comment below, and I'll happily share the offical government permit website link. Fingers crossed you're lucky enough to secure a booking too! Oh, and.. could you guess the movie reference at the end? Haha, there's been a few one liners from this Aussie blockbuster hidden throughout the series (we happened to watch the movie onboard a few weeks ago and it's been stuck in our heads ever since!!). 😝 And finally, no sponsor this week, but if you'd like to support us, consider hitting the 'like' button or leaving us a comment (it's free). Cabrera, through the eyes of these seasoned sailor's is breathtaking, with professional photography and commentary, this is certainly one Episode you don't want to miss. Thank you for putting a part about performance. I'm surprised that it went over 9 knots. I need to say. I started to watch many YT channels about sailing/ travel, but yours is the only one that I'm still watching! Amazing job!
You are so welcome! Yes, we were stoked to break our PB! 9.4 knots felt like we were flying haha! And that was with (pretty much) full water tanks (we filled up in Palma) crazy good!! Aww, and thank you so so much for the love and feedback, it's hard for that compliment to sink in! :) How grateful I am for you to share that. Thank you xx
Thanks so so much Vince!!!! Ps. I have your amazing giveaway patreon prize to post you! I’m going to do it this week and will message you the tracking number 🙌🙌 Got caught up with the hike!!!! And then this video! X

Fantastic video!! So glad you snagged that ticket. It looked amazing. BTW- thank you for that public service message about the ghost nets. As a long time diver I have seen enough of them. Looking forward to the videos from Italy! Safe travels!
Awesome video Kristina and John. How cool is that getting to see the abrera Archipelago Marine-Terrestrial.Y John you must not been to impressed with the dirty sand covered boat in the morning from the system over night. Witnessing the Dolphins Big ones also was a great treat. You three have a great sail for the next sailing adventure to Italy.
Hey Jonathan, thanks SO very much for watching and stopping by here in the comments, so grateful for your support! Means so much to us and the success of this channel 🙌☺️ Yes, so lucky to get there! The dolphins were a huge highlight! And they’re so big out this way!!! They’re gigantic! And yes, the next passage will be great, can’t wait to share 🧡🙂 Have a wonderful week ahead x
Just subscribed to your channel and wanted to say…. You have a lovely story telling voice, great editing and beautiful boat as well. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures!
Welcome aboard! And thank you so much!!!! So nice to have you here and hear from you :) Feel free to go back a few episodes when we picked up the boat in Barcelona, there's some info along the way that'll help with the flow of the story :) See you for the next one new friend! Yay! Lots of love, Kristina
Thanks so much Kyle! You have no idea how genuinely grateful we are to have you here mate. Thanks for your support and taking the time to leave us a comment. It means so much and is such a huge support 🧡
Hi. Liked the flashback to your TV reporting days. K you can look very different with your hairstyle, found that interesting. Enjoyed your upload and having a guest provided something different. ❤ the video. Keep it working!
Cheers Neil! Yes, a face full of make-up and dark hair is a blast from the past! 😝☺️ Reminds me of such a busy and interesting part of my life 🤩 I do sometimes think about all the wonderful (and also difficult stories I reported on!) 🧡 I’ll try to pull out some other files from the archives over coming weeks! 🙂
Yes, Cabrera makes for a nice anchor even if it's true that you have to book a place ahead. It's cool to be there without any disturbing shore lights at night. I, like you, was able to book the anchor merely hours before, maybe it was luck too 😉 By the way, here is a small sailor tip for the next time the tender's engine gives up: Don't start pumping fuel if it hasn't sprung on after the 4th or 5th stroke; disconnect the fuel line and keep kick-starting it with the fuel line disconnected until the engine has cycled the excess of fuel that is probably choking the engine or until it eventually starts. After that (either if it has started or not), re-connect the fuel tube and if it hasn't started yet, retry starting it up, this time with the starter lever on.
The Islands of Cabrera were made a National Park in 1991 and a few years after that access was restricted and anchoring only allowed via a booking made by fax for its then mandatory boays . Before then I was a regular visitor on my 38 foot power boat and we often found the King of Spain's boat Fortuna at anchor in one of its secluded bays away from the main Port Bay. Back then the only provisions available were at the Rangers Cantina....bread & Skol beer so getting caught out by bad weather was not for the faint hearted. Captain Jon, Puerto Portals
Thanks so much Scott!! So glad you enjoyed this episode 🙂 Can’t wait to share next weeks turn of events before our crossing to France/Italy! -- it’s KOAS (that’s my nickname by the way. A play on Kristina Costalos 😂😂). Random, but accurate! Have a great weekend, what’s on the cards!? x
Not much for me, I work shift work in the fire service (25 years now) and am on my long stretch off (14 days, took some vacation days too lol) so am just going to catch up with friends. Have a few beverages and wait for your next episode. Stay safe and all the best to you guys.
Oh, that sounds absolutely amazing!! What wonderful timing - 2 weeks of pure bliss! Enjoy every moment, laughs, friends a few drinks, THAT’S LIVING! 🤗🫶

Haha, thanks Tony! Yes, a lot of editing for this one!! 30 minutes is a big job - but wouldn't have it any other way - because I'm so glad to share these all special moments with you guys! There was too much to cut out otherwise, so had to keep it all in there for ya! Haha, and yep, thats the one! 🏰
Awwww, feeling the love mate - thank you so much for your kind words, and the comment, it’s SUCH a support to the channel! 🧡✌️ Grateful to have you here and with us for the journey xx
Thank you for another lovely video! Always so fun and positive! Really interesting to learn about Cabrera and the small drift nets - thank you for sharing that! I'm going to have to watch "The Castle" now and get my dose of aussie culture too :-)! Thanks again and looking forward to the next one!
Our pleasure Tom!!! So interesting with those drift net (FADS) hey... it make so much sense why these fisherman use bottles, but they are such an environmental disaster, if only the education and resources were there for these communities. Anywho, yesssss 🏰 that's the one! An oldie but a goodie! Have a great weekend, chat real soon! KC x
Hi Kristina! If it hasn't been suggested already, you guys should do an "E-Cookbook" for sailing or just everyday life. Your meals always look easy and absolutely delicious! I would get it for sure! Love your channel, and everything you guys produce! Keep it up! Cheers!
Awesome video and what an awesome opportunity you have been able to provide for Kelly. You skated by with the Spanish guard, maybe they watch the channel. That dust storm would of been hectic if it had of struck during the day Looking forward to the next episode. Maybe an option for a competition is guess the movie quote
Loved this ep! What a beautiful place, were all a bit lucky you guys got on for us all to have a look. 2nd ep in a row you guys reference "the Castle" - legendary! I commented on last weeks ep that the foward stateroom could be turned into a "pool room" , but i recon only Aussies would get it. Keep up the great work.
Hey guys! I just wanted to say that your video's just keep getting better and better. So professional! Loving everything you're doing! Keep up the great work!
Hey Chaz!!!! Thanks so much legend! So nice of you to write this message and support us here in the comments. Cheers for your compliment, makes me feel like I'm making progress and growing everyday, so thank you!! I don't have a team around me, so having you here and cheering me know, means the world! You've made my day mate! Hope to see you again next episode! 🙂 Hope you're having the best week so far
That's the scariest part before you end up your video, i keep on playing it back n forth but it's too dark I can't see anything,.. However this length of your videos are good and I really like them, too bad there're so many restrictions in those islands that somehow you can't enjoy them much though the place is beautiful and so calm, the castle was amazing looks like it was made for protection against intruders during those early times,.. Those stinky sand looks like ashes fall like what we had here in Taal Volcano,.. Tying a Cam in your mast was a cool one at least it catches some nice view in it, smart move👍❤🤓
Ohhhh, that was such a scary incident, I’ll explain and show you exactly what happens in the coming episode/s! Very very chaotic experience!! 😬😬 Thank you, yes always improvising with the camera on the boat! Lots of fun 🤩
Hey Guys 😊 Your Spain journey is really adventurous. Good Learning experience in Mediterranean sea with 9 Nautical miles, amazing achievement 😊. Eagerly waiting to see your next sailing Journey ❤ Have a Wonderful Day ❤❤
Love your videos and footage. Hard to imagine you guys had only 2wks sailing experience and set off from Australia on a beautiful sailing yacht. Wow that takes ball's 😱 some might say crazy and damn stupid, but hey ho go for it as you guys did. I've just come back from the Canary Islands back home to Scotland and it's freezing here. 🥶
Hey Amilio! It's wild hey... I sometimes stop, and take a moment in my days to be so grateful for taking that leap of faith. It was so scary (and exciting) but, you're so right, we were out of our comfort zone for sure. And then putting yourself in a vulnerable position, broadcasting yourself on the internet.. ek... a potential recipe for disaster 😂 But hey, we got there!! (I think!) haha! Oh nice, how were the Canary Islands????! Did you have a blast? Also, did you know John's Scottish? His Grandfather was originally from Castletown before immigrating to Australia!!
@@KristinasTravels It must be that Scottish connection with people you meet on your travels. I was born and bred here in Scotland. I love being back home and meet all of my friends. I love the Canary Islands, I first sailed accross the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to St Lucia many years ago. ⛵🌴 Was always into motor boats until my friend taught me sail in proper sailing yachts. Never looked back, sailed the Azores, Cape Verde and the Caribbean Grenada etc. Scotland is good for sailing in the Summer 🌞 but it's too cold in the Winter. I do a lot traveling back in Scotland. I am actually a Campbell decendant from Breadalbane clan🙊. Your footage and video are excellent and professional. My friend who taught me to sail was doing the Arc 3 across to Grenada via Cape Verde 1wk ago. He is also from Scotland in Nairn. Is boat is called Aquetas it's a Oyster 48. Save sailing to you both. Regards from Scotland. ⛵🙏🍺❤️
Hello🥰my name is Kaye I'm newly subbed👍😉I have been following le vagabond channel and have been missing actual sailing (they have been building a trimaran)....anyway I really enjoyed your video and look forward to finding out more about you guys....I'm in cold rainy freezy Scotland so thanks for sharing the sun and sea....🥰😍🤪☺️😘🥰
We feel so lucky to have been lent this incredible boat by the Jeanneau Yachts team :) But there are many boats you can have an incredible adventures on! :)
Bahaha! Thanks mate! I appreciate that!! But to save you all the grief, I had to cover it up, because in that very moment, it did look like a diaper 🤣😂🫣🤣🤣 Cheers for the love!!! Good vibes all round! I appreciate the positive energy you bring here 🧡✌️ I’ll still take the compliment!
Thanks legend!! Appreciate your support here in the comments!!! Its the best way to support us! You're honestly such a legend and its great to see your familiar face haha!! If I can say that!! Hope you're having a great week? :)
IM CURIOUS why most of the sailing YOU TUBERS rarely post their meals in land at their restaurants or limited coverage of their experiences around food or shopping or restaurants ?? enjoying your adventures !!!
Yep! Cabrera is a Maritime-Terrestrial National Park to preserve the snakes living in the island! Not a place for everyone in my opinion. It was also a real hell on earth for the French prisoners that my ancestors sent there during the Peninsular War.
Alright all, after hearing Aussies talk about vegemite for what seems like forever I've decided to put some in my Amazon cart. Should I hit the buy button and give this stuff a try? Is it any good? Is it an acquired taste? Is it one of those things that you'll only like if it was force fed to you as a child? And if it's so good then why do only Australian's eat it??? 🤔🧐 And how do I eat this stuff? What goes into the famous vegemite sandwich? I want to make sure that I don't "stuff" this up. I live in the US for reference.
Ohhhh how fun! Living on the edge haha! Stuff it, click buy! The KEY is… not to spread too much!!!! And always spread butter first…. I ordinarily spread a usual amount of butter, and the spread the Vegemite VERY lightly.. (think of it like shading the toast with a light shade.. and then if you like it, you can add more!) 🙂 It’s salty! 🙂 and make sure you spread it on warm TOAST!
Oh yayyyy! WOOHOOO! Cheers for the love and letting us know! You've made my morning :) An awesome message to wake up to! 🤗 We hope you enjoy the crossing over to Italy/France over the upcoming episodes! 🎉

Wow❤
Thanks for watching! Can’t wait for the passage over to Italy! 🫶
The sea is good to us so we must, in turn, be good to the sea and all that lives within.
Nice video 😊😊😊
Thanks so much for watching :) Hope you're having an awesome week so far! 🤗
The narrow stairs/ doorways in castles are to slow invaders/ make them vulnerable (having to walking in with your lowered).
Thanks again
See how wonderful life can be! And all you need is money - lots of it.
We feel so lucky to have been lent this incredible boat by the Jeanneau Yachts team :) But there are many boats you can have an incredible adventures on! :)
💘Living the Dream💝
🙌🤗 certainly grateful for this experience! I really feel: this is a once in a lifetime island 🏝️
@@KristinasTravels Bless you 🙏
Looks like you're on the new 55' Jeanneau. What do u think of the catamaran-like layout with cabins accessible from the cockpit?
Love it
У вас очень красивая яхта 🎉🎉🎉
Great video. Will Kelly be remaining?
Hey Mark, yes, she will :) Although an episode like Survivor could be fun... who's torch will be snuffed out? Lol!!!
Cheers guys..
I put this in a reply, I actually thought you Guys quit sailing, I wasn’t getting any recommendations from youtube.. 🤔

@@KristinasTravels I'm all good. Great to see you back in Europe. I am catching up on episodes😎
Have been there like 10 years ago.
So none of this would have happened without John. 😜
Exactly!!!!! 😂🫣🙌 He’s the bomb!
He honestly has a way with finding these hidden gems 😁
This episode should be called, John’s Travels 😛
nice video
Thanks for watching Ali!! Appreciate the support here in the comments 🤗🤗
the med looks nice. but you, kris, are so beautiful
which boat are you guys using?
IM CURIOUS why most of the sailing YOU TUBERS rarely post their meals in land at their restaurants or limited coverage of their experiences around food or shopping or restaurants ?? enjoying your adventures !!!
Palma Mallorca is the best place in the Mediterranean.
It’s AMAZING!!! Def one of our favourite cities from this trip! 🙏😍
And how do I eat this stuff? What goes into the famous vegemite sandwich? I want to make sure that I don't "stuff" this up.
I live in the US for reference.
Ohhhh how fun! Living on the edge haha! Stuff it, click buy! The KEY is… not to spread too much!!!! And always spread butter first….
I ordinarily spread a usual amount of butter, and the spread the Vegemite VERY lightly.. (think of it like shading the toast with a light shade.. and then if you like it, you can add more!) 🙂
It’s salty! 🙂 and make sure you spread it on warm TOAST!
@@KristinasTravels Ok, and thanks for the instructions. Sounds like powerful stuff that a person needs to be ginger with. I'll give it a shot 🤘🤞🤔
What makes Cabrera interesting too is a white shark sighting by scientists 5 years ago
What?!?!? SERIOUSLY?!?!? 😨😨😨😨😨 Tell me more!!!!
26:03 The dark looks so much better than the half done fake blond. 👍😉
Really!?!?? John likes me dark too…. Hahaha! We’ll see what happens….. I like mixing it up from time to time 🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful! OK, I have to agree the diaper suit needs to go. 😊
😂😂😂😂 John is going to LOVE reading this comment 🤭🤭🤭 okay okay… I’ll get rid of it! 🤣
New sub, thank you
Oh yayyyy! WOOHOOO! Cheers for the love and letting us know! You've made my morning :) An awesome message to wake up to! 🤗 We hope you enjoy the crossing over to Italy/France over the upcoming episodes! 🎉
This has happened a few times, this was the second time. So it had happened once! 🤣
The outboard? OMG.... it's definitely happened a few times Marcus hahahaha!!!
Love the video what model yacht ?
HI there Roman! It's a Jeanneau Yachts 55! It's a new design :)
Did you open the breather on the fuel tank
We did :( Ah well, we got there in the end! Haha
My ears peked up recently when I heard your voice on some commercial Don't recall the product, just your voice.
Ohhhh how fun!!!! I've been trying to do them on the side for a little extra income :) Helps fund the next adventure 😉
Hey guys! Nice boat, what is the model?
Hey!!! Thanks so much! We feel lucky to be borrowing it while we save up for our own. It’s a Jeanneau Yachts 55! 🙂

@@KristinasTravels anyway, the boat is beautiful, especially interior of that is amazing as for me)
I wish you to get your own such good as this one in a short term!
Thank you for the nice video!
Is anything NOT a drama? I generally like your vids, good editing, nice places, even inspired visits to a place on one of our sailing adventures, however the constant dramatisation of everything is mmm. Keep living the dream! Well done on the path you are making for yourselves.
Haha 😆 cheers Roger! I love the drama 😂 That’s why my nickname is KAOS (chaos) haha, there’s always something bloody happening! But we have fun along the way so, all is well 🤍 thank you and appreciate your support x
Have you travelled (sailed) all the way from Australia to the Medeterainia ?
Yamaha Enduro best outboard you can buy - Spares Worldwide
❤❤🥰🥰
23:17 just look at WW2 pilot jacket. Most of then are so small, they look like they were worn by children. ^__^;
👀
You guys need and electric dinghy.
🙌🙌🙌🙌
That would be nice!! 😅
unfortunately there is a lot of restless imagery, all that succession of very short scenes
A long slow take would make a lot of difference
Taking this onboard, thank you for this feedback 🧡
Doning your life vests in rough seas is not wrong.
You’re not wrong! 🤗👌🙌 Cheers for watching Conrad, what a ripper! ✌️
Don't tow the dinghy in 40kt. Its either gonna flip or snap
Ordinary we wouldn’t be towing it in 20 knots of wind (which is what we were experiencing at the time) but this was a short hop (2 hours) and this weather wasn’t forecast 🙂🙂
