Golf's Not Hard with Tiger Woods Collection (Nike Shoe Commercials)

- This video is a collection of four TV commercials Tiger Woods did for Nike in 1997. The series was called "Golf's Not Hard" and the comedy was based on the fact that Tiger is really, really, really good at golf, while the rest of of ... aren't. So Tiger demonstrated things that were easy for him (How to Hit a 300-Yard Bunker Shot, for example) but not for any of us.
There are four commercials in this collection. The first one shows Woods demonstrating a unique (and dangerous, for fans) way to fix a slice. The second one deals with tee height, the third one with fairway bunkers.
We saved the best for last. The last of the four commercials shows Tiger Woods demonstrating just how simple the golf swing really is ... except that it isn't, and by the end of the commercial our heads are spinning as Tiger talks about increasingly arcane swing theories.
Nike's "Golf's Not Hard with Tiger Woods" series of commercials were released to promote Nike's first golf shoe to carry Tiger's name, the 1997 Air Zoom TW golf shoes.
And Nike still makes Tiger Woods (or TW) branded golf shoes today: amzn.to/2e4qy0x
The “basic tips on difficult shots” had me dead😂
Same. Wish that had an episode though. I could use some of those tips
this is the Nike marketing we all miss
Indeed.
Wild to think at this time TW was knee deep in pornstar p*****
90's commercials hit different
"Next week, the difficult shots" had me.
yeah 300y bunker shots too easy, lets try something difficult haha
Same lol... how am I just seeing this?
Funny thing about the last one is how accurate it is XD
When I started to play and saw that commercial I thought that last part was some funny random BS. Now I see that they are just plain fundamentals.
Pēteris Rakuls yep. I laughed because of how true it is. Golf is mind over matter and that's why I love it so much.
I really like the "frozen lower body" one. I always thought this was something I developed over the years from watching the pros. Apparently Tiger new it as well! I think a stable lower body is so so important
That's when your mind goes nuts on your backswing and you either chunk it or it goes straight 50 yards.
@@markmckinney9821Mind over matter, I don't mind cause you don't matter.
“That should help take the mystery out of the golf swing” lol
"If necessary, take a 3/4 swing."
My sides are in orbit
Thanks for that flag stick tip, my game has improved tremendously
Something about watching the young Tiger’s syrupy swing, holding the club after his follow through, and hearing the birds singing is just harmony in motion.
I'm not a golfer, what do you mean by syrupy swing? Google didn't help much.
@@williamdawkins3241 Smooth swing-no turbulence or hesitation
ur gay bro
His swing has a tempo to it and he's generally flexible so that all parts of the swing is a fluid motion, unlike now, hence the descriptor.@@williamdawkins3241
@@resmarted Actually
Tiger shows his comedic side in these commercials. Love it.
“Something to be sure to work on next time” is the funniest one to me
"hit the flagstick" ..... almost like he was predicting his own demise!
Wow, never seen these commericals, and theyre great!
Same here.
Posted 7 years ago, recorded 27 years ago .. and NEVER gets old !!! .. 🤣🤣🤣
In the first commercial, my brother was the kid in the red shirt on the right. He said they had a second part with him grabbing a piece of cardboard off someones head and going "Cool!" but was cut for time as they wanted to keep it under 30 seconds.
Fun Fact: My brother says Tiger Woods had McDonalds flown in for him that day on the golf course.
Haha. McDonald's. Tiger is still cheap too. Nothing's changed
Flown? Man, cheap food in style.
Gotta love the big Mac
wait how real was that shot and what kind of danger existed? Was the ball a real ball?
@@joegriggsjr.6511 Well, if he bought Lobster Thermidore 4 people would have had an allergic reaction, sued Tiger, 7 people would have bitched that it was only a 4 star Michelin level, and 13 others would have taken more than their fare share because "I ain't leaving empty handed." McDonalds was the safe route because what fat American doesn't like some Mickey D's?
Almost missed that subtle “Like a wounded bird” - just about crapped my pants 😂😂
This improved my game massively and I just got back to back eagles on a par 3. The key is to hit the ball as close to the cup as possible for maximum chance.
This stuff is fabulous.
Thank you UA-cam for providing me this gem of a video 💎
"Make sure to hit the flag stick." Tiger believes in me. He knows I can hit the flag stick when I want to. Thanks Tiger
Incredibly his actual real "highlight shots" were just as unbelievable. The greatest Nike commercial being the 16th at Augusta.😃
This is great. Must’ve missed these commercials as a kid. Hilarious
The 90s and 2000s nike ads with tiger woods, Michael jordan and lebron james are some of the most entertaining ads across all sports ever. It was always personality and charm first and branding second. Nowadays ads are just a means of blatantly shoving product to the consumer. New ads from taylormade and titleist and all the other golf brands have zero personality
Except Taylormade
I see this like every other year. Never gets old.
“...and the club gripped gently like a wounded bird.”
His swing was the best back then
John Grams tell that to his back though😂
Not anymore Lmao he's a hack
@@5h5h6hgh6h7h yeah I know.. he got lucky today though cause d. Johnson got a double bogey on one hole an I think like 2 or 3 bogeys on others so if he hit better than I think he would have won but I said that 11months ago and back then yeah he was a duffer lol
R M double oof
@@kratos7893 haha a hack that won the 2018 tour championship and 2019 masters?
😂😂🤣🤣 How did I not see this until today???
wow please bring these commercials back nike
wow these are brilliant. i'm surprised i don't remember these being on the air originally.
This really sums up why it's difficult for GOATs like Wayne, Michael and Diego, to be great coaches.... how do you train and teach what comes so naturally?
These are gold, LMFAO.
Just so funny and it dosent get old!
i dont think commercials could ever be made like this again, the camera quality will never be like that again, and people forgot how to have fun.
They should remake these commercials.
And ruin them….
Simple 300 yard bunker shot with 3/4 swing. That's the stuff they should have started teaching me with
I’m definitely saving this to my golf playlist
I started watching Tiger Woods best 18 holes - turned it off as it was about golf
Man ..That shoulder turn when he was young
He has such a sweet swing back in the day.
Next week, basic tips on 'difficult' shots haha
I never hit the ball more than 300 yards; I'm halfway there.
"Like a wounded bird" OMFG XD
These are gold
"and the club, grip gently, like a wounded bird"
Nikes golf content was the best.
The first one was so hilarious
2018 , and Tiger Woods is watching this video in an attempt to fix his broken game.
Seems like he fixed it :)
it sure does
if it works
Then he wins masters the year after
2019 Masters Champion.....FIXED🤪🤪🤪
Use a 3/4 swing if necessary lol.
Man, I miss America from this era.
Hahaha I’m dying! Having women and children to my left and right.. haha I love it
These are awesome 🤣🤣
I'm 50 yo...how have I never seen these?!
“Reminding you that we can all be better.”
Back when marketing was funny
As funny as these commercials are, I don’t think it would work as well today. This is essentially a parody of two things, old infomercials and old training videos, and he wasn’t very good at acting at this point, which actually worked in his favor here because it’s very similar to the awful acting in those old instructional videos. Tiger Woods worked especially well here because he was not only a very good golfer but he was also very recognizable to mainstream media. People who aren’t playing golf don’t know any professional golfers except for Tiger Woods so what would normally be a pretty niche commercial, ended up being really well received by the general audience. Nowadays where everybody has an opinion, and has a place to share that opinion, it’s a lot harder to make a commercial that appeals to everyone. If Nike comes out with a funny commercial, there’s 1 million people talking about how dystopian this is that the huge company that uses sweatshops is making funny commercials. If they make a meaningful commercial, people say they’re pandering and if they just make a regular commercial people say that it’s boring.
Only just saw these! lol funny stuff!
Tips on hitting the 300 yard fairway bunker shot: (1) hit the ball 300 yards from the bunker, (2) make sure to hit the flag stick, to leave yourself a very makeable eagle. LOL
What a great swing. Jeez.
love ur commerical buddy u should go pro
Don’t hit >300 yards. Now there is a new concern for me 😂
"Golf isn't hard, you just suck" - Wiger Toods
So amazing
Every time I laugh so funny.
This reminds me of when people would ask me how to hit the ball like Tiger Woods. First thing is you've got to be Tiger Woods .
Gold
Are we seeing all these Tiger ads now because he and Nike split up this week?
Golf’s not hard, but not getting behind the wheel plastered sure is!
Too bad Nike exited golf. They had a good thing going.
TheArfdog Obviously not good enough. If they'd still had a nice profit rolling in I doubt they'd have stopped production.
Adam Barnett too much supply by a multitude of competitors and not much demand. Not Nike's fault. They did have a good thing going. Their better player clubs were always great but the lower end range looked and felt cheap.
Nathan Cates Adam I agree with you. The Nike blades were always good. The cheaper Nike stuff was awful compared to Taylor made, ping, and titleist.
Adam Barnett True but nothing a little ingenuity and capital investment couldn’t fix. They had the brand name in golf’s door. They could have built on that big time.
They didnt have a good thing going which is why the exited golf hardware
this has such vine energy
I should know these but I don't remember these commercials
The title is misleading. I’m pretty sure with Tiger, it’s hard 😂
brilliant
Dumb question... but was his shot through that gallery real or fake? I'm actually questioning this only because I'm sure he can really do it in real life...
It was fake but there is a commercial where he hits a ball into a Window at St Andrews, there were hours set aside for him to make the shot, he did it with his 2nd ball
Yeah fake. Only because if he missed it would most likely kill or severely injure someone. His driver ball speeds gets around 200 mph.
There were probably some real people in places where it was impossible to be hit, but most of them are probably fake.
Is this real?! 😭😭😭 ive never seen this before in my life 😂😂
That last one reminds you how there’s a million more variables to consider in golf than any other sport
I beg to differ solely on the fact that you don’t have UNLIMITED permutations of unlimited different actions from anywhere from 2-20 other people sharing the same space whom are also all tryna to make reads and predictions and adjust
False. you don’t have to act/react in real time against opposing players, memorize plays, learn opponents tells/habits etc.
Pretty sure no golfers are walking onto an NBA court or an NFL team. Meanwhile plenty of other athletes shoot golf rounds that are competitive against many pros golfers. Especially if they’re having a good day and the pro is a little ‘off’. Meanwhile Tiger Woods on his best day isn’t scoring a point in an NBA game or outpacing a safety to catch a touchdown 😂
I don't remember these at all!
It’s so easy!
Anybody here after his shank demonstration at RIV?
Imagine having this be a punishment a hit from tiger woods to the face at close range
I want those shoes
I bought the shoes, now I swing like tiger ❤
Now go win a tourney!
I dont remember these at all 😂
These were good.
These were do funny 😁
What the hell Joe, 0:24
You hit Hickok45. You Bastard.
Good on u tiger reowr 👌
He should make a sequel to this now with other tips, such as the short game around the green, reading greens, and maybe how to read your wife's face when she's holding a nine iron in her hand.
Ummmm……is that Kevin from “The Office” who’s playing the 27 handicapper? 🤯
How to hit a 300 yard bunker shot. First, hit the ball 300 yards. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He should do a “getting laid isn’t hard” series.
Imagine TIger on Between Two Ferns. 😂
who actually paused for all of the tips in the last clip? (i did)
Back before Nike Trans'd their marketing campaign.
wounded bird
If necessary, take a 3/4 swing😮
Joe did not overcompensate, he hit is normal line go left with ball curving right. Slicers can never hook the ball!
The concept and narrator has has Simpsons' vibe
I use to like skinny Tiger better than more Buff Tiger. More flexible, less restrictive, and lightening fast. Nothing like it.
What pleasant and helpful guy. I'm sure he won't struggle with substance or sex addiction, be publicly ridiculed for it, and then have to make a "comeback" after treatment for his very understandable and difficult disease.
LOL
Couldn't get a polo shirt to fit back in the day?
pass fail system . ankle knee, shoulder, wrist, training day .1 point *.
