  • Fr. Michael Lim is a Singaporean Catholic priest serving under the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn in Australia. His story depicts his conversion from a Buddhist to Catholicism as well as his personal journey into the seminary and life of the priesthood. A beautiful encounter of the power of the risen lord through the miraculous healing of his crippled sister became a life changing event that washed away all the years of doubts and cynicism about Christianity. This is the second of three parts interview.

The difference in doctrine between Christianity and Buddhism:
    1-Christian, have creator
    2-Buddhism, there is no creator

d e f I n I t e l y not. I have never done any meditation of any sort whatsoever, no yoga, reiki, taichi, no pagan or heathen practices & never will. Christianity forbids participating in pagan & heathen stuff. Christians dabbling with occult Buddhism please browse tamingthetiger.com also moiranoonan.com gloriapolo.com womenofgrace.com inplainsite.org & James Manjackal & Joseph Ssemakula websites

Here in Canada, and Quebec, i've met many Catholics that practiced Buddhist meditation, some were brothers, nuns. There's nothing satanic or evil about that. Unlike Islam's Mohammad doctrines, there's no war mongering and terrorists in Buddhism, thank God for that eh. There's no hate prayers like Islam that actually states hatred against Jews, Christians, pagans. Even in christianity, if you look up some verses in the Bible, there's hatred and biases against the 'others' ideology, that creates animosity and eventually wars, big and small. So you're very wrong about your indoctrination biases point of view.

People who claimed they were Buddhists before their conversion to other religions are actually Buddhists in name because they know very little about Buddhism. True Buddhist are those who truly understand the teachings of the Buddha and they practise Vipassana Meditation seriously with the objective to attain emancipation and end sufferings of birth. sickness, death and rebirth or "Samsara" the endless life cycle of sufferings.

Yes, exactly. And the meditation also helps people's health in general, which is a big bonus.. no need to preach or read about endless doctrines.

I'm a Roman Catholic Canadian french guy, that grew up with 90% of people around me have become and embraced the more progressive way to describe, simplify, explain religion and personal faith and hope. Most people (they all can't be wrong) couldn't care less about the hard brainwashing doctrines, there much happier with the simplified version of religious personal faith than with a papa godfather type figure being used as go between (medium). Don't get me wrong, catholic priests are ok but there's still some that are are borderline (psychic readers), and that my friend, happens to the best of religions out there. I believe most faithful people around today should read and befriend agnostics as well, last time i saw one they weren't demonized one bit and they work in our society at all levels. If the original buddha (if he ever existed) was around today, he'd maybe be wearing american jeans and listening to Maroon 5.

Men of straw bring about the disappearance of the true Dhamma
"It is like this, Kassapa….when beings are in decline, and the true Dhamma is waning….men of straw appears, and
it is they who bring about the disappearance of the true Dhamma. But when monks and nuns, male and female lay followers behave respectfully and deferentially towards the Dhamma, towards the Sangha, towards the training, towardsmeditation, then these five things conduce to the maintenance, the purity and the preservation of the true Dhamma."
    -The Buddha (SN 16.13-Saddhamma-pa.tiruupaka.m Sutta)
