I think she just used this as a means to advertise her sexual content to a large group of people that she thought would be interested in her content. Practically all of it seemed transparently performative in the same vein as the recent Andrew/BPF or old Jackson Hinkle debate. "Don't talk down to me/ don't interrupt" literally the sentence after talking down to him/interrupting him multiple times, and the forced creepy sexual harassment make it borderline impossible for me to believe any part of her performance was genuine.

  • @CH4R10T_TV
    @CH4R10T_TV 9 місяців тому +568

This lady sounded like she was coked out of her mind. It was pretty absurd to hear her accuse Vaush of interrupting her given how often she did that to him. "I studied physics, I'm not a dummy" is the kind of thing you say if you're invested in the idea of seeing yourself as intelligent, but the demand here re: avoiding anti-intellectualism is on behavior, not quality of person. "You won't let me talk" is a pretty funny repeated series of interruptions to interject into Vaush trying to ask a question. The repeated narcissism of "I'm very pretty, come have sex with me, I'm hot, I'm smart, I'm always right, don't question me, etc. etc." was probably supposed to sound humorous, but it stops being a joke when you just say it and then act like you really think that way.
Americans and Canadians should wise up to this kind of wink-and-a-nod friendly neighborhood racist stuff. If you're not used to hearing European racists talk like this all the time, you might notice certain parallels to fascists Vaush has debated -- weird disdain for data that contradicts her views (she got very cagey about economic sources as a concept but was predisposed to arguing from "basic econ"), awkward inconsistencies about her own views (attributing a great deal of harm to neoliberalism as an ideology n general while self-identifying as a neoliberal), outright exaggerating the impact of immigrants (spoiler alert: Canada isn't being immensely harmed by immigration).
TL;DR -- This lady was zooted, another one for the "fascism is a mental illness" profile Vaush has cultivated by being a magnet for the most insane people alive. Presumably she just had this debate to continuously advertise herself.

Generally speaking, grad and post-grad degrees involve more specialization and education in very specific fields. I am 4.5 minutes in and I already know I'm in for some bullshit--deciding that immigration has literally anything to do with the housing crisis in Canada over literally any other factor is certainly A Choice. Currently the biggest factor in the housing crisis, at least in my province, is the complete lack of regulations for big housing corpos who scoop up every single available property--houses built with the intent that people would buy them and live in them--and then put it on the rental market at rates higher than a mortgage would be for an actual family trying to buy a house. I know people who are READY to buy a house, only to have every single reasonable (and sometimes extremely overblown thanks to the market) offer rejected because some rental operation is willing to outbid real offers by real people.
There are plenty of people who want to buy houses here, but no houses to buy. My BIL was renting a townhouse for almost double my mortgage, and half of his neighbourhood was just empty houses for the two years he was there before he moved back in with my inlaws so he could actually save to afford a down-payment on a new house at some vague point in the future. Jesus.

Canadian here. We need immigrants to drive economic growth, we have a much lower birth rate. Also our wages have never been higher. And wages in Canada are highest in areas with the most immigrants. Also were only letting in 500,000 a year. Also its not causing backlash this person knows nothing

After not getting it for a longtime Vaush has finally convinced me to hate bottoms. Why does this debate read like a smutty fan fic where the writer doesnt know anything about economics and its just a set up so the two characters can bang. Props to Vaush for staying cool while being sexually harassed the whole time.

I don't think that I've ever heard someone ever interrupt another person as much as this person interrupted Vaush. My debate teacher would have flunked them for this sort of behavior.
Edit: Upon review, this person is clearly a troll.

Ooohhhh jeez. This woman is DEEPLY insecure. In a debate, it can be easy to hear “there is a flaw in your claim” and interpret it as “YOUR THINKING is flawed,” but that’s why STEM majors (and most majors tbh) are given LOTS of chances to present and debate. I’m not sure how this woman has a “degree” in STEM if she takes everything so personally and internalizes the slightest things. You need to be confident enough in your argument that you can actually HANDLE this kind of thing, otherwise, you shouldn’t debate. I almost feel bad for this poor woman.
You can also tell how insecure she is straight from the beginning. Looking at chat?? Not only looking but RESPONDING to chat??? If you were confident enough in your argument, you wouldn’t feel the need to do that because you’d be secure enough. If you’re self-secure and end up wrong, you’re able to say “I’ll have to rethink my argument, thank you for your time.” God I have no idea.
The sexual comments are also very strange. She’s a follower and has a crush and feels incredibly small because her parasocial relationship has amplified the disagreement.
Halfway through, hopefully I’ll get through this all.

As a STEM major (though from a liberal arts school) you don't get the chance to debate much until you get into masters and doctorate programs and need to defend your thesis. Undergrad is more about analyzing data (LOL) and group study/lab work. And interpreting results. There's a lot of ego in STEM, tbh, but this is an entirely different level bc it's not in an area she has expertise in. Usually this level only kicks in when people are arguing things in their field.

I think this might be a liberal arts school issue, I go to a majority STEM school and we practice this all the time. We get assigned a grad student and we work under them for the actual research practice, and then we defend it in front of our peers at the lowest level, stuff like that. I guess it's an institutional thing?@@bulletsandbracelets4140

@@MagicPotion1612 likely varies then! We had to take a variety of courses, including communications courses, which is where we saw more of that. It would also depend on the STEM field, tbh. I was comp sci and math and only took a few other science courses, like low level chem and bio. Basically, I wouldn't call it a guarantee of the fields until you reach thesis level! But I could definitely see some fields/schools starting early, similar to yours.

10:03 She says “I have data” and then in the next breath says “articles don matter, they’re biased.” So she only cares about data when it agrees with her. Good to know.

Her data is two datapoints. She doesn't have the data analysis.
