  • Tai Chi... on the beach! Kick off your shoes, slip into your board shorts, and throw on a tank top. Let the sounds of the ocean wash over you in this 10 minute meditation in motion for summer. But don't just watch - get up and join me!
The four main moves in this Flow combine to make one long classic move called "Seizing the Sparrow's Tail." But one by one the four moves are Expand, Yield, Pierce and Push.
Oh yeah - and the music. Once again, I give all my thanks to the website EpidemicSound.com. Here are the tracks I used for this video:
Guitar Drenched in Reverb, by Jack Elphink
    Plowing, by Hakan Eriksson
    Spanish Heart, by Martin Carlberg
    Mediterranean Nights, by Hakan Eriksson

Title Barefoot in the Sand caught my eye. Funny storyline and nicely matched music make me revisit. Catchy start and the ending always makes me smile. No happier ending. So... why so few views? Word "Senior" on cover photo putting people off? It's a beach summer story - suitable for all ages (In reality would actually be least suitable for seniors because it can be a challenge to keep your balance or smoothly transition in the sand.)

Fantastic DDR! This is up there with the garden in Portland in the rain. Nothing like starting the mornings with your routines. Still very excited about starting my taijifit instructor training and joining your academy. When you get a break please email me regarding my message. Thanks again for being such a wonderful influence in the world!

I've never done Tai Chi in my life but this was so relaxing to just watch. I might need to pick up a new hobby.

hi DDR. I have a question. When doing Opening the door, you are supposed to breathe in as the hands rise. But what if your lungs are weak and can't keep breathing in all the way. Are you supposed to raise the hands faster in that case?

Oh what a wonderful question! It's easy to get mislead by the "supposed-to's" you hear about Tai Chi practice. We have so many principles and patterns. But underneath all of that is a principle called "Ziran" which translates as "natural-ness." In this case, if your lungs feel weak and you can't keep breathing all the way - well, then breath twice. Let it be natural.
In my school, I remind my students all the time: "You do your Tai Chi with the body you brought with you TODAY." But Voko here's the good news - slowly but sure, through your practice, your body starts to change. Your lungs get stronger and your breath gets deeper. It can't be forced; but it can be nurtured.
