    I'd like to see you forge a double edged leg knife. Like a fast stealth mercenary blade, maybe 16cm blade. Strong but extremely light weight, etc.

    • @freerkwieringa275
      @freerkwieringa275  6 років тому +1

      ah, i think Philip Dunn makes those.

    • @AlphaMachina

      What I was thinking, since they'd be on the smaller side, you could make a matching pair with a different animal head pommel on each.
      I like to sketch, knives, swords, armor, etc. in particular. Maybe I will try some stock removal knife making myself. I didn't really like how my raven skull knife came out. I will try some different blade and handle types until it looks right:

    I'm not a blacksmith but I do watch a lot of this sort of content(your videos are great by the way). You seem to us flux differently to how others have on camera. I've never seen anyone flux the sides that aren't about to the welded and aim usually seems to be to get flux to sink between plates.
    Do you have reason for this or is it just a bit of a habit?
    Just got to the end of the video while I was writing this question DAMN thats a nice knife!

    • @freerkwieringa275
      @freerkwieringa275  6 років тому

      yes. it is to prevent carbon loss due to oxygen reaction. the flux shields the steel from oxygen..
