Columbus Short did a wonderful job as Little Walter in the movie Cadillac Records
Oh yes
Yesss he really did awesome
True..... that was my favorite part of that movie
Who gives a fuck about these sodomites?!
@@adriennerobinson1180 😮
I love Cadillac Records, a sad but necessary story that needed to be told.
He going to have me watching Cadillac records today!! Great info on Little Walter!!🔥🥰
I couldn't imagine dying this year!! I'm currently 37 right now 🥺
Hollywood didn't tell the truth about his death in Cadillac Records. He didn't die that way. He died in the apartment of his lady friend of a health problem. They should of told the truth. His family should of sued.
One of my top five movies is cadillac records I learned alot about little Walter and muddy waters actually started listening to muddy after i seen the movie
@@williamlitzinger1989 my grandmother chopped cotton with him and his brother. Funny Muddy Waters brother was a preacher. He had a beautiful voice too. There's a blues museum in my hometown with a lot of Muddy Waters and other blues artifacts. Also, the crossroads so be careful lol
Man that Cadillac records movie never gets old
“That’s my favorite movie 🎥👏🏾👍🏾😍🤗🥰
Tayron Forbes ...There was no such thing as Cadillac Records.
@@brucescott4261😂chess records is what it was about bro.. also everybody in real life signed to chess was given a cadillac which was huge at the time because these were the first rockstars nobody was cool and made money playing music the way these guys did
Love the movie 🎬 cadliac records
Ikr
My great great grandfather said that he saw him perform and that the man have an excellent show. Looking at his pictures..... that's a hard looking 37......he would never know the impact that he made nor the legacy that he left on musicians of every genre.
He definitely looked hard in the face, but being that he was actually older then he thought could have played a part as well.
I fell in love with Columbus Short after this role. Some say singer Eric Clapton later paid for the tombstone. Little Walter was a bad boy for real!
Yes. I read that, that was sweet. Leonard Chess's brother just died in like 2021 from COVID. He seemed to living well. I wonder was he living off of all those artists royalties since Leonard died so young.
@@LisaWhitehorn chances are he was! Walter was too busy being wild to keep a watch on his affairs.
@@LisaWhitehorn Are you saying, Phil Chess had Covid, I did not hear that, and was following his brother, til he passed, heard nothing about it because he did a while ago, 2015 or 2016. So, please get back, and let me know, you're wrong if you're saying Phil, Len brother died only 2021 when it is not true,.
@@Taylor-zz7cv I'm agreeing, I think NDN is inaccurate, let's see if she respond. I'm curious why she said he only passed on to heaven 1 or 2 yrs ago when Len Chess brother Phil, passed on many years ago. Tay. great piece here as to Lil' Walter, love Cadillac Records, watching it again right now.
Bad to the bone.
Columbus Short played the heck out of that role. He was my favorite character in the movie. He deserves some type of award for his portrayal of Little Walter. The death scene was heartbreaking. I love the movie, but, I dread that part.
Absolutely brilliant and i admit the scene with Muddy finding him dead and howling like a wolf through grief brings tears to my eyes ..
Mr. Short was BORN to play that role! Cadillac Records was a very good movie….. especially the role of Mr. “Smokestack Mountain” The Wolf. Sad story about Little Walter. Such a talented guy.
Love that Story ❤
agree 💯 percent
Yes sir, Howling Wolf the brother that played that role did his thang....frfr!!!
its smokestack lightning right?

Columbus Short did a great job with Lil Walter in the movie.
People need to pay attention to this story because it can still happen!
Thank you for this. I was a little girl in Chicago when these guys were in the chess studio. Hanging out with my grandfather. Willie Dixon. I wish that I was old enough to know that I was amongst LEGENDS 👑

My very first thought!!
Cadillac Records was a great movie, the soundtrack is amazing. Excellent job on the story.
Lil Walter is a sad story. RIP ♥
💯
No need to be sad,he did it his way
@@nichellewilson2117 Your right he did it his way. Never the least there was a better way. I'm sorry that he didn't know how to find a better way. ♥
He didn't have BAD LUCK....HIS OWN LIFESTYLE LED HIM TO HIS SITUATION. He really needed an intervention
Exactly!!
2023 eyes and culture… it was not of the same brand as today. People obviously could only go but so far with their opinions of his life ( i heard it Said that he was a fighter/shooter/slicer, didn’t you? )
In those days, the cops thought they were intervening by beating him the ways they did for his behavior (It’s twisted, but true)
It doesn’t sound like he was listening to anyone.
@@Vic9659 why do y'all always say that? I'm pretty sure none of you wouldn't want

Little Walter was a talented man but needed professional help. Thank you for sharing his story
I’m With You On Columbus Short Getting A Award For His Performance As Lil Walter
The fact that he didn't win any sort of reward for that role is Criminal.
RIP to all the Blues Legends 🙏🏾
You should do one on howling wolf as well
I second that. 🎼

My favorite in the movie. Intimidating but cool with it!
My husband would say” oh that’s your boyfriend”!🤣🤣🤣

Little Walter Was 2PAC Before Tupac. He probably would've been a bigger artist without the alcohol & quick temper. But He's still a Legend in Music History 🅰️➕
He always will be!
He didn’t drink until his mom died, though, right❓⁉️💔💔
Tupac for sho
Eric Freeman in what aspect is was he like 2pac
Ns that creole background drinking alcohol is no good once that liquor hit our blood we turn red and it’s over from there lol, one of my uncles my grandmother took care of back in the day use to speak French I thought he was a demon before I knew that French was our 2nd language 😂😂 I was a kid
This is why I can't get into the music business, it's way too wicked & evil. I wanna start leading by example. Bro, I really appreciate you telling us these stories. I can learn a lot from you, peace & Shalom.❤❤❤❤
Real talk I use to want to do music, but watching this made me rethink it. Too many people end up dead. Great Show
He played that harmonica was like an electric guitar
Walter was drinking that liquid courage 😂
I never knew much of anything about Little Walter outside of the movie "Cadillac Records" and Columbus Short played the hell out of the Little Walter character. It seems when it rained it poured for Walter. He lived his life like no other but one thing nobody could ever take from him and that was his harmonica and style. Thanks so much for this informative story on one of the greatest harmonica musician the world would ever know.
Quick story on how I became a CU fan, the first video I came across was probably the Paul Williams or Dennis Edwards video and I use to skip to the end just to hear how the person died, but probably around the Scott La Rock video (or maybe earlier) was when I became a fan and now I'm a superfan so from me personally thank you CU for all the great videos and funny moments.
Yes he make dope content and informe us on things we never new
I have watched every story at least 12 times. No joke... The music used to creep me out. But now it is relaxing as hell. Welcome to the CU family.
My baby don't stand no cheating my babe. That was my favorite song. He was a very interesting man. Howling wolf, muddy waters. The beginning of Rhythm and Blues.
Whole damn family was wildin’.He didn’t stand a chance from birth but I’m glad the world had a chance to experience this great talent.I’m from Chicago.South side proud 🫡Love your content bro
Me too.
The building that Lil Walter's gf stayed in where he died was 209 E 55th st, on the corner of 54th & Indiana.
In the movie, he died over Muddy’s💯
Oh wow
Robert Taylor in this piece😂👋🏾❤️
I loved Cadillac Records too!! I’ve watched it over & over again!! Great film!!🙌🏽👍🏽🫶🏽
Same!!
Me too!! My father (RIP DADDY) use to say “One day all the Cadillacs are gonna roll off the damn screen they tired of you!!😂”

Columbus needs to get it together.....I really like him as an actor.
@@VeronicaJohnson-yn1cr I agree
Rest in peace to little walter
*Walter
Columbus played that part. Everybody knew a little Walters.
Cadillac records was a great movie! Columbus was so incredibly fine in this movie.. I didn’t know about the drug us…wow…he lived so hard! Alcohol is a depressant that makes everything worse! Everything that went wrong with Walter is because of his addiction. Only 37 years old…how sad🙏🏽I’m related to a lot of men that lived like that🥺
He was fine in that movie!💯
He couldn't handle sucess sad
Glad I tapped in Cadillac Records was an amazing movie despite me not agreeing with Beyoncé portraying Etta James 😭🤦🏽♂️
Who would you have cast in the role?
@@Moonewitch I always said Queen Latifah or Jill Scott would’ve been great choices
I think Beyonce did a great job.
Beyoncé sang I’d rather be blind better than Etta.. like it ain’t even close
I concur totally agree 💯 I thought the same thing I thought that Beyonce voice as beautiful as it is was not for that type of soul music I always saw Lela James for that part
This is the best way to end a Wednesday night. I enjoy your research and bios. Rest Easy, Walter. Hello, my CU family.
Little Walter is my mothers first cousin and my second cousin. He and my mother grew up together in Marksville Louisiana. Walter and My mother Ruth, a singer at the time, were on the Chittlin Circuit together during those early years when he did not drink alcohol. He did not shoot anyone according to my mother, as depicted in the movie. He also never mentioned a daughter to her. He did in fact stay in touch with his family, so that depicted is incorrect as well. But Walter had an amazing life, though short, he lived it to the fullest. It’s unfortunate that his daughter was privy to the funds and yet not have the decency to place a headstone for her father. I’m sure had His immediate LOUISIANA family had money, they would have done so. REST IN POWER COUSIN WALTER❤
My family is from Marksville LA. My father and his siblings was born and raised in Marksville LA. My uncle Nog ran a club down there.
Another Banger for the night!!! Thank God for Celebrity Underrated!!! 👑👑👑💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Columbus Short was awesome in this Little Walter role... He's so handsome and I was blushing when he was singing "My Baby"...lol..frfr...deuces
First time I've heard that Little Walter spoke french. Great research.
One of my favorite movies. They all killed it✊🏾👍🏾🏁
There is a plaque here in Alexandria for him and they had a Little Walter Blues Festival. Definitely inspired me to play harmonica as well as Sonny Boy II and Howlin Wolf
So sad he was in his late 30s but look so old . His lifestyle aged him tremendously
I loved the movie, and Lil Walter was my favorite character! 😍💜 And he was a Taurus ♉️ 🐂😝
Big factz ♉️
Absolutely right! And, I'm a Taurus too 🥰
Earth gang im a virgo we're similar lol
Fax we bulls don't take crap and can have bad tempers..we don't play
Howling Wolf 🐺 loved him ❤ and little Walter ❤ Louisiana people love ❤️ our family ❤️❤️❤️ RIP to these LEGENDS 🙏🏽 hopefully they will do a LITTLE WALTER MOVIE 🎥
Did I hear the same life story as everyone else? No mother, father went to jail, uncle went to jail, family members mistreated him and then molested at twelve by an older women. I don't understand when people comment he needed an intervention or guidance, when I know his lack if restraint was due to his upbringing. He raised hisself. "There but for the grace if god go I."
Truth Indeed AMEN 🙏
I can watch Cadillac Records every time it comes on.
In some of Walter's photos, he and Mekhi Phifer share a striking resemblance.
@Marteshia Pittman/// I agree with U on that 1 especially @7:09😊
I can see that too😮
Marteshia Pittman ...False.
@@brucescott4261speak for yourself. He does to me.
Little Walter was my grandfather's FAVORITE! Many have tried to imitate Little Walter, but none could duplicate his style. He was one of a kind.
I always get a little excited when you drop a new video!!!
Happy to hear that!
“Just sprinkle a little Blues on it, and it's going to grow up big and bad.” Willie Dixon
I grew up listening and loving every musician you named. 39 years later I still love the Blues.
Crazy how his estate was worth millions, and no family member saw it fit to give him a proper headstone. Sad! I watch so many of your videos, and these artists meet some horrible demise’s due to their lifestyle.
Lifestyle some cases lack of education. Same story decades later record executives cheat artists out of their money. He was not worth millions while living. They can get DNA from Little Walter siblings to prove if that's his daughter. Just saying.
Growing up my grandmother loved Muddy Waters. May she rest in peace.
Howlin Wolf is my favorite blues singer of all time no disrespect to Little Walter and Muddy Waters. Little Walter played the harmonica like an electric guitar. I love the songs "Juke" " My Babe" "I Hate To See You Go" "Key To The Highway" "Last Night" "Boom Boom Out Go The Lights".
I am from Alexandria, La. I was on the committee for the Lil Walter music festival , I really hope this festival comes back to town. There is so much to learn about this musical icon named, Lil Walter. History of the music is essential. Thanks for sharing a much ❤️!
I live right outside if Alex I never knew he was from Louisiana
I’m from Alexandria too.. I went to school with some of Walter’s relatives..

@@CelebrityUnderrated Of course. Anytime💯
Cadillac Records never gets old, think I'll go watch it now❤
His ORIGINAL version of "Fever" sounds the best! He was the only singer to sing it like he was getting feaver from his lover vs. other singers singing it like they were giving their lovers fever. His interpretation was iconic. He was a wild one for sure. Thanks for such amazing content!
Little Walter never recorded any song called "Fever"

Lil Walter was sumthin else!! 😭😭😭 SUPER talented and a groundbreaking artist ♥️ I’m off today so I think I’m gonna watch Cadillac Records…one of my FAVORITE movies! Sidenote: Chess Records was located about 4 blocks from where I grew up…when I was little I remember my Dad pointing the building out to me, when it was still there. Chicago got rid of ALOT of historical Black landmarks, in Bronzeville, after Harold Washington died of a “heart attack” that he was trying to get national landmark status for 🤦🏽♀️ 😒
🤔🤔Why is heart attack in parentheses? Was this not true?😉😉
@@voncielmccoy9382 It’s indeed true, it was because of a specific reason why Mayor Washington died about 35 years ago. So when he died, that landmark was torn down before the city could make it an official historic landmark
@@voncielmccoy9382 Why do you think 🤔 come on now…I gave you every clue you need in my original comment Love
@@johnharris373 Facts and we KNOW which landmark that was!! I grew up right across the street from it on 47th & King Dr. 💅🏽

One of my favorite movies but Walter needs his own movie
Little Walter was definitely underrated , everybody took from him and didn't give him any recognition period ⭐🏆🥇

Thanks for listening
Last month was the 55th anniversary of Little Walter's death
Brother you're really telling this story and doing a great job you should be the one writing the script this needs to be a movie
It already is
Thank you. I really enjoyed this. I'm a rock singer songwriter who paid attention when The Rolling Stones mentioned their influences. As soon as I went to Muddy Waters I got completely taken with Little Walter. Practiced for about a year before I got good enough to play on stage. He'll always be my main man. Nobody comes close. Gonna practice to him again after I get done watching this. Been a long time since I did that. Thanks again!
Thank you for another story knocked out of the park. Cadillac Records is a good movie. Can we please get a story on Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner & Curtis Mayfield?
Man Little Walter was too wild R.I.P
When you start getting more money and recognition at 18 years old then you ever did doing something you love to do its hard to balance especially for a young black man in the 1950's Little Walter handled it the best way he knew how
Truth Indeed
Keep up the good work my guy your is underrated

I think Columbus Short understood/was Little Walter, that's why it was hard to leave the role. You can act a role or you can identify with someone's angst.

I live in New Orleans and have relatives in Marksville Louisiana. I even know the Jacob’s family which are descendant of the tunica Indians. His family knows very little of him in Marksville. They even have family members that resemble him to a tee. Marksville city council should honor this hidden gem but they know little of his legacy. Maybe you can help.
