I'm sharing a typical meal I make regularly from start to finish in 10 mins that's cheap and nutritious using pre prepped veggies from the freezer and storecupboard items
Proof that you dont need to dial up for a food delivery from your favourite app or local Chinese restaurant! Brilliant! I often put cabbage in my stir fry. Or frozen green beans.
Morning Ali, love this intuitive cooking, using basic recipe but making things up as you go along depending on what you have on hand. I had planned stir fry for this week with some chicken from the freezer, might use your ideas to make it a sweet and sour! Left overs salad plan for lunch: cut up roast potatoes, peas and carrots, end of jar of roast peppers, olives, tomato and mayonnaise. Might add a tin of tuna 🤔Also feedback on your onion chutney that I gave for presents to friends “Thank you, went down a treat with family, hardly got a chance to get any myself!” It just goes to show home made presents are the best. 😊
Thanks for showing us your stir fry recipe. We had stir fry last night! It’s great for a quick and nutritious meal to use up bits of veg from the fridge or freezer, the more colourful, the better! We keep Quorn pieces in the freezer, which I stir fry first before adding the veg, and some cashews. For a quick sauce, I mix peanut butter, sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce and water.
Ohh, I'm craving sweet and sour now😍. This is a great way to cook. I freeze things like peppers when they go on sale but rarely to have it on hand chopped and finished. Will do that, it makes for a quick meal!
A check on my freezer surprisingly shows I have enough food/meals for January. Still have to get some fresh food but I thought maybe I can do a small stock up on cleaning products to get ahead. It’s surprising what you can do when you keep a check on spending. Thanks for all the tips Ali. Happy new year.
Thank you for the video. This is very similar to what I do when I have a few leftover vegetables in my fridge to use to avoid chucking them away! And I often use cashews and sesame seeds to add protein and healthy fats when I’m on a tight budget and don’t have meat or fish! Otherwise I use tofu as well, plain firm one or if I splurge I would get the Tofu Rosso (red) which is absolutely delicious but difficult to find.. love Luna and her appearances! She’s truly your guest star! 💓
Morning Ali, loved the meal you made I love sweet and sour chicken. For New Years Eve my son made his own sweet and sour sauce with egg fried rice it was absolutely delicious. Miss Luna just wanted to get in on the act🤣🤣
Ali that looks delicious 😋 loving the whole prepped ideas 💡 great for a midweek quick tea ❤definitely going to try this one thanks 🙏 Agarve syrup is a great vegan 🌱 alternative for the honey 🍯
Happy New Year! You have inspired me to make a stir-fry this weekend. I tend to make big pots of stew, curry or bolognese to portion up and eat/freeze to save time and effort but am still on leave so will make something quick and fresh for a change. Thank you for the inspiration. I am also tracking my expenses for January per your previous video. My standard expenses weren't a surprise but I had definitely lost track of my subscriptions and donations and all those small sums really add up. ❤
It just shows how quick it is to prepare a fresh cooked meal if you've done some prep previously when you do have the time and energy! And of course a cheap meal to boot! I'm just wondering how many post-Christmas carrots I have left in my fridge that might be better grated and frozen , rather than crossing my fingers I'll use them up before they go limp and uninteresting.
Chinese Fakeaway in a flash, without spending loads of time and money. Looking forward to seeing your weekly eats video. We had family staying over the Christmas holiday, and so we're now eating up our prepped food. All delicious and nothing goes to waste. Great video. Love to Miss Luna 🐾
Loved this. Missing my freezer as we are in temporary accommodation between moves. Peas are a good source of protein - there are vegan body-builders that use pea protein powder as a supplement
Thanks Ali, that looks really tasty. Just a quick question, how did you freeze your carrots? Did you just grate and freeze or did they need to be blanched first? I’ve never frozen grated carrot.
I just grate them and freeze raw. If you freeze them flat in a bag you can just break off what you need. That's what I did in the video. Then I just chuck them in soups, stir fries etc :-)
My daughter saw a TikTok where somebody made homemade soup with reduced fluid, cooked it and blended it and then froze it into large ice cubes. We put a frozen soup cube into a food thermos and at lunchtime at work she added boiling water and she had homemade soup. I have just made a batch of curried parsnip soup with the 15p veg to freeze. Hope this is of use to somebody.
Hi Ali, thanks for the demo - I also freeze leftover rice; I don't normally put veggies in the freezer, but I will chop up any veggies that are in the fridge before we go away on holiday etc. Very useful. Do you do as I do and dilute your soy sauce? I know you can get the bottles with the green lids that are low sodium, but I reckon it's just as good to dilute with water. Enjoy your weekend!
It's just plain natural low fat yoghurt mixed with a bit of doggy peanut butter (I use the Peamutt one) You can get a similar ball and mould on Amazon, just put in dog treat ball/mould. Or use a Kong :-)
If you'd had the Chinese five-spice, how much would you have added, and is there anything else you suggest I could add instead? I think I may have the five-spice though it could be out of date!
I'd add about 1/2 tsp. Spices don't really go out of date, they just lose some flavour so add a bit more! Although if they're years old I'd chuck them out! If I had garlic and ginger I'd add them. If you like a bit more spice, you could add chilli. Or spring onions or mushrooms. The possibilities are endless :-)
Hi Ali, I love your videos but only started watching recently. When freezing the veg (carrots and peppers) do you parboil them first or just chop and put into the freezer? Thanks.
Thanks! Fruit and veg I mostly freeze raw (open freeze on trays or flat in bags) except potatoes (they go black) and fruit compote. I like to cook meat first and then divide into single portions to freeze. Defrosting reduced raw meat needs to be done with care. I just find this works better for me as I can batch cook or prep when I have time or am in the mood. Then actual cooking times for meals is low. Hope that helps!
No onion, shallot or garlic in stir fry? Always hold pan handle when cooking on stove top, or you'll end up with it all down your front and possibly a burn.

Super I think it’s good when you can see how quickly a meal can be prepared, especially if you’re wanting to try meat free alternative meals.
Voice over Ali nailed it! And that all looked really tasty!
Thank you for tasty recipe!
I have plenty of mixed nuts and shall be making this.
Funny luna in background haha
Please do a what you eat in a week ❤

Looked delicious. Luna is a sweetie and I would love to see more of her, especially her naughty antics. 😆
Looks delicious, Ali! I have some left over duck from Xmas day that would go very well in that pan. Enjoyable video!
Delicious! Have bit of red cabbage from Christmas in fridge...going to try tomorrow!
Happy New Year to you and Luna!
Nice wee video, Ali. You're definitely inspiring me to do more veg prepping in advance. Thank you!
Looks delicious 😋 yes to the what I eat in a day/ week videos x

Yes I do a similar peanut butter sauce sometimes. But I'm out of (human's) peanut butter. Luna has plenty of her Peamutt one though!! Lol!
Looks delicious, the sesame oil is best added at the end of cooking due to it's low smoke point.Happy new year to you and Luna

Terrific video Ali! I have a chocolate Labrador who is nearly 12 years old, an elderly gentleman named Sheldon. I love to hear Miss Luna 🤍
Hi Ali. Lovely meal.
Thank you for the info, I’m using a lot of your recipes and ideas and I’m enjoying them. Absolutely love seeing and hearing luna she makes my day. 😘
Looks wonderful! I haven’t made a stir fry in too long.
It slays me that i’m all bundled up to my eyeballs and you’re in short sleeves! 😊😊😊
My wee house really holds the heat with the heating on for just a few hours!

@@aliliveswellonless brilliant, thanks. I’ve still got a bag of 15p carrots so will get those in the freezer today before they go soft

If you have home insurance, sometimes the freezer contents are covered in case it fails. Worth checking the small print 😊

Yes I freeze my veggies raw and my meat cooked
@ thank you will try that x
Luna..mam mam mam make a film and do talkies! 🐶 mam it’s yoghurty fryday! Woof I mean foodie day🐶
🤣🤣🤣
I put some sausages in my stir fry .

Currently don't have any garlic and couldn't be bothered chopping an onion! That the beauty of a stir fry :-)
Hi Ali, I have a red cabbage too... what do you plan to do with it?
Probably some coleslaw and might cook some to freeze.
Salad for me and pickle the rest.
