The first Robocop (1987) had it all - great score, touching love story, tragic pathos, biting satire, a vision of the future, humor, bizarre gore, a millieu of life gone crazy, utterly nasty bad guys and terrific action. One of the ten best movies ever made.
Ha, ha, ha! Boddicker looked like my Latin teacher. Best of luck.
Well said! What an excellent movie! Many people discount it as some cheesy 80s action film. It is much more than that.
Oh, and Boddicker was one of the BEST villains in movie history. He was SO evil!
Absolute truth. To this day I still have trouble convincing those kinds of people that it was so much more than what you saw on the surface. Paul Verhoven was such an amazing director in those days. And it's no secret now that the cast and crew were utterly miserable while filming it, but the end result speaks for itself. Often you get the most creative work out of adversity and hardship.
fluffimator Boddicker was an equal opportunity employer. In his crew he had: Latino, Black, Asian, Gay and himself White psycho.
Amazing dialogue: "Bitches leave".
The vision of the future was spot on. Detroit after 80 years of democrat rule. And lets not get started about Chicago.
Dead or alive, you're hitting the replay button.
Guilty! But it's impossible not to hit again and again.
This is bathing my ears from all the impurity from nowadays "music" that surround me everywhere I go.
@@mattkross4579 okay so I'm not the only one that listens to the classic movie themes on a regular 🤔😁👊🏾
RIP Basil Poledouris! A MUSICAL GENIUS!!!
Yes
🤣🤣
Everything in Robocop 1987 was perfect , that film was a total masterpiece. 👏👏👌
Exactly. I just watched it before for the 200th time. What a movie! And Boddicker the best badass in movie history!

Verhoevens films are brilliant. One of the best regisseurs. He always goes different ways than other regisseurs and criticized the society, capitalism and consumption. His brutality in the films are outstanding. Starship Troopers are also very good.

Victor The Alchemist Your move, creep.
+Gort The Robot Dead or alive, you're coming with me.
And now, a word on nutrition.
The Terminator doesn't like this music
That comment just Brighten my day.
R.I.P to all composers who create something truly unique and lasting. Basil Poledouris, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Ennio Morricone and everyone else. I miss you so much
Basil Poledouris was generational at best. You won't see genius like that again for quite some time. He not only knew how to make amazing music, but he knew how to make amazing music that was the backbone of a fantastic movie. Robocop, or Conan for that matter, would not have been nearly as good with someone else doing the music. Fact.
Ennio 🥺
This is sad man...😢
We still have Hans Zimmer.
if you watched that movie and remember this glorious theme, there's no way this full orchestra doesn't give you chills. THE CHILLS i tell you! bravo maestro.
It really does!!!
The same composer did starship troopers.
You can tell when the movie uses the same up swelling to illicit a heroic scene
I saw it in theaters. I was 4. Traumatized
The gas station scene gives me goosebumps every time

A cuantos se les puso la piel de gallina cuando escucharon esta joya¡¡¡¡
Yo fui uno de ellos ¡Que recuerdos! Increíble música para una gran película.
Grande el maestro Basil Poledouris 👏👏👏
¡A mí! Todo mundo habla de las fantásticas actuaciones y la dirección de Verhoeven ¿Pero qué me dicen de la música? Basil Poledouris fue un genio tu esta música merece una ovación de pie 🙏🙏🙏
A muchos
It seemed in the 80s, no matter what genre or film, we were spoilt for fantastic composers, that left us with a legacy of memorable, moving, classical music…
This is SOO true!
It wasn't neutered by political correctness and ideological agenda.
Robocop could never be made today.
Now, its just fcking tiktok,,chaynaa did messedd up recent generations
High standard competition made composers of that time to push their talents to the limit and the result is this : remarkable music
It was a different era, a different generation that learned life entirely different than today. Imagine how productive we all could be at a skill or two if we didn't have modern media to distract us.
I had a ticket to this concert but I missed it because my 6000-SUX ran out of gas half-way to the venue.

🤣I'll buy that for a dollar!
The theme for the original was just as epic as its contemporaries, starwars, superman, indiana jones, rambo, etc. The 1980's very well may have been the golden age of film scores
The golden age of everything, aviation, construction, music, movies, people really used their minds to do wonderful things.
Basil Poledouris was a genius... RIP... Another one of his masterpieces along with my favorite movie soundtrack of all time, Conan The Barbarian... This was a great performance to keep Basil's spirit alive☺
Red October, Total Recall and Starship Troopers.
Maestro.
@@hugoarcada Total Recall was scored by another genious composer, Jerry Goldsmith.
However, the main title was clearly inspired by the Conan main theme by Poledouris - Verhoeven himself suggested Goldsmith to include a "Conan-esque" theme in the score.
The Conan soundtrack! It’s so great. I’m listening to it after this
I love this soundtrack!
...and the Hunt for Red October, great times
gave me goosebumps when i was a kid, still does now
Even as a kid knew I saw the movie in the theater with my father, I knew, we both knew, that not only was the movie WAY better than we thought it would be, but the soundtrack was unforgettable. I remember humming the theme song for days.
@@spook75a28True there. I saw RoboCop in 1987 three times at the theater. Of course everyone remembers the movie being absolutely spectacular but the music is incredible as well.

I still remember when dad come to home with a VHS Robocop's tape. Good Lord, i was 6, my Little Brother 4 and we watched all that freakin' movie. It was Gore, Raw, sad, bloody, sarcastic, violent (Of course, all of that i get it years after that first momment)... We loved it!... It was simply perfect. A movie who rock our worlds and forever his music turns me into a Classic music lover... 🧡
Same for me I was 8!!! We had it all those times
Honestly, the part where the guy gets covered in chemicals and then is hollering/moaning/screaming while his skin is no longer hanging on to his meat fucking me up bad.
The practical effects were amazing, and the guys acting really made me thing we wasn't having a great day
Same here mate... never forget to cocaïne scenes, gore and honesty in this movie
My story is quite as same as yours. I was 7 and my parents had a dinner in some place. My mother last words before she leaves us with the nani: which one you prefer, this movie named Robocop or ...?
Good life

I shed a tear hearing this 😢
Why was everything that was done in the 80’s/90’s so much better.
Because back then people worked for free, trying to create something great from not a so big movie budget, took hard work and long hours trying to make a Directors dream come true or vision for it. Same with games, a bunch of guys sitting in a basement programming something they believe in or having fun doing. Today they just throw 100s of millions creating garbage.
@@theMyouknowthe real answer is nostalgia. We just long for things in the distant past because we know they are nothing but memories now. That’s why nostalgia can be so powerful.
@@DSH69444You're wrong. "Creativity" in movies, music, is on life support via CGI, AI, etc...The original practical effects of The Thing still hold up to this day. This soundtrack is emotionally jarring...unlike the stuff today, which is an orgy of synthesizers.

I first watched Robocop in 1987, when I was 7 years old. I'm 41 now and to this day Robocop is one of my favourite movies of all time. This rendition is amazing and it puts you right back in the movie, one of the best ever made! Action, poignancy, humour and all those themes - Gentrification, corruption, regeneration .. It had it all, Way ahead of its time and now the world we live in. Paul Verhoeven genius also Basil Poledouris for this amazing score. Great orchestra !
A Masterpiece of movie and soundtrack. Thinking to today's science fiction movies, I start crying.
The build-up starting at 1:03 is incredible!
RoboCop is the modern day Conan and I think it's amazing how Basil Poledouris developed both films with magnificent scores! You can definitely hear a little Conan in RoboCop.

It’s what drives your emotions as you watch it!
I felt the sadness, the victory and triumph all through the music!
What a amazing composer he was..the ability to create a piece so foot stamping and upbeat into one so sad!

As a child, I did not realize the important role of music in films. Now when I watch modern films with synthetic music, I very clearly realize its importance.
Amazing. I didn’t know this theme actually require a whole lot of musicians to make it happen.
The best live version of ROBOCOP theme that I've ever listened to.
This version and orchestration is wonderful! Robocop is one of the greatest film scores from the 80s.
god how do i miss the days of old..where a catchy theme was mandatory for a hero or villain.. listen carefully men..these were the days that belonged to masters of music.. i grew up with robocop, terminator, rambo and other silly actions movies..but with awesome soundtracks..
