    • @DeepSouthTexas
      @DeepSouthTexas  Рік тому +1

      I am not sure how to answer this. An internet search shows 1 cup of bread flour is a lot fewer grams than I measure. For me, 1 cup of King Arthur bread flour weighs 170 grams. I do not understand the difference. In most of my bread videos I am measuring in cups, and then just weighing the results in grams on a scale. 🤠

    They look delicious, but as a home baker, 3 cups of flour is not 512g. A cup of flour is about 125g, so I would say 3 cups flour is about 375g plus. So with that, not sure which is correct, water to flour ratio.

Anyway, as you said, it's a lot of work and time for a hot dog bun, especially since I live 15 minutes from the store. @@snugglemouse38 Chef John from Food Wishes (Hamburger Buns - How to Make Homemade Burger Buns). They work even if you change it up a bit by not adding the sesame seeds or even shortening the rise time when I am in a hurry. The reason I like them is that they are dense so they hold up without falling apart in your hands when you are eating. I often toast them and put in a fried egg for breakfast and make some buns smaller and some larger for different things (so make 8 often). I have a KitchenAid mixer but lately have been throwing everything in my bread machine to mix, proof for 1.5 hours, shape and coat tops with butter, then proof for another 2 hours, and then bake. It is a very forgiving recipe.

    idk if you will see this but i have a small idea for you. With how much emphasis you place into it being 5.5" to meet the frank requirements, yet it still grows to 6", CONSIDER taking your frank and slightly spiralize it simply with a kitchen knife. itll allow the dog to stretch a little bit AND with the right hearty toppings i bet you would come to love the extra bun you could utilize sort of how a hoagie bun is made to fit more than just the meat. Maybe im offering advise where it wasnt asked idk!!!

    I have a question, sir. In your written ingredients you list 3 cups of flour converted into 512 grams. 3 cups of flour converts into 370 grams of flour, not 512 grams is 4 cups, are you including the flour for dusting your work surface?

      I am not sure how to answer this. An internet search shows 1 cup of bread flour is a lot fewer grams than I measure. For me, 1 cup of King Arthur bread flour weighs 170 grams. I do not understand the difference. In most of my bread videos I am measuring in cups, and then just weighing the results in grams on a scale. 🤠

      I followed your recipe, and the buns were amazing by far the best yeast bun recipe I have ever made, and I bake a lot because I'm allergic to preservatives. I started with the 3 cups of APF and had to add just under a 1/2 cup more to get the right feel. I love your channel I found it while searching for the hotdog buns recipe and subscribed. Thank you for replying.

    Just to let you know I tried this recipe and this is my favorite so far. I have made this so many times now and it always comes out great. I make rolls and hamburger buns too with this. I'm going to try making a loaf bread with it just to see because it is light and soft. Thanks so much and I'm a new subscriber now thanks again.
