- This weeks Metal Mass is a two-part where we explore actor/musician David Hassel before and after Metal. To get a better idea of what David Hasselhoff's music career before he started his Metal project with Austrian band CueStack.

You are absolutely right, I appreciate you pointing that out! I can’t remember where we read he was from Germany but it looks like he was definitely raised in the US. Born in Maryland!
@@MetalMass He's American, but was popular in Europe for a while. He had some hit songs (in particular "Looking For Freedom"), and even sang at the Berlin Wall right after it opened up. Not sure what that says about European tastes... LOL

Kung Fury is a movie where they crammed every (nowadays) cheesy ass 80s theme or reference you can possibly think of.
And it's f***ing glorious and hilarious :D
The guy that plays the lead is also the director of the movie by the way.

As for the intro scene... the whole movie this is from was purposefully made over the top in every regard, most of all "more 80s than the 80s" ;)
David Hasselhoff was a legend in the 80s/ early 90s with Knight rider and then was on Baywatch. He’s a legend lol
The movie is free, go watch it it's an absolute gem.
Also he release an entire new album with some rock/punk/pop songs from the 1970's and the new metal song
We ended up watching Kung Fury last week! It was truly amazing and it had us laughing the entire time! You can't Hassel the Hoff. We'll be sure to check out those other songs.

The 2 most important things everyone should know about david hasselhoff are Knight Rider Baywatch.
These dudes are lame and keep saying he has a metal career, painful to watch them

From my understanding, hasselhoff started on daytime soaps, then got a starring role in the show Knight Rider, followed by Baywatch, and then spongebob.... all the while he has had many side gigs on tv from hosting shows, to guest spots, and has even had a very full music career in Europe, which includes being present for the Berlin wall removal. If you want another amusing hasselhoff music vid, look up "Jump In My Car"... it's more comedy than anything else and was done between spongebob and kung fury... for a more serious look at his singing career, the song "Looking For Freedom" is a wonderful example of his vocal talent.
The movie went straight to UA-cam, unable to get the funding it wanted to be a full hour and half movie and make it to theaters. But it did get enough fan funding to make the production happen, and get just under the hour mark with what was filmed. Went right to UA-cam, and did well enough that there have some spin off properties based on it, in particular the video game, which had an expansion to include Hasselhoff as a playable character in 2021, while also adding a second story to the game. Mean while a sequel is in the works, filming done around 2020, but apparently post production is taking a while as it was meant to hopefully be out late last year, and we haven't had an update yet.

Never heard of _Knight Rider_ series? Almost unbelievable, you don't look _that_ young ^^ (I did not watch that in the 80's either, IDK how much they do reruns in other countries)
Well... if you've seen the Marvel MCU movies, you could check out the song "Guardians Inferno" that ties into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 for more Hasselhoff.
