- Kung Fury is a 2015 English-language Swedish martial arts comedy featurette written and directed by David Sandberg. It pays homage to 1980s martial arts and police action films.[3][4] The film stars Sandberg in the title role, Jorma Taccone, Leopold Nilsson, and a cameo appearance by David Hasselhoff.
The film was crowdfunded through Kickstarter from December 2013 to January 2014 with pledges reaching US$630,019, exceeding the original target goal of $200,000, but short of the feature film goal of $1 million.[2] It was selected to screen in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, losing to Rate Me from the United Kingdom.[5]
Kung Fury: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack album for the 2015 Swedish short film Kung Fury, released by Universal Music Sweden on July 8, 2015.[1] It was composed by Swedish synthwave musicians Mitch Murder and Lost Years, with additional music by Patrik Öberg, Christoffer Ling, Highway Superstar, and Betamaxx.[1] It was released on vinyl record on July 8, 2015.[2]
David Hasselhoff produced a music video of the song "True Survivor", which debuted on April 16, 2015.[3] It features him interacting with the film's writer/director/star David Sandberg.[4]

Kung Fury really was an absurd passion project of one single Swede who got a ton of people together on Kickstarter to bring it to life. One of my fav things of of late. Kung Fury 2 has been confirmed to have wrapped filming a year ago.
I fell into a synthwave/outrun/retrowave hole when the movie Drive came out and I haven't really felt the need to come out of said hole since that...and that was in 2011. Just a crazy amount of great music in that genre for someone who loves 80s synth sounds and the aesthetic.
Would be cool to see you react to stuff like Carpenter Brut - Turbokiller, Irving Force - The Violence Suppressor, Gunship (Tech Noir, Fly For Your Life, Dark All Day), September 87 - Bad Dream Baby, to name some that also have cool music videos.
