Thank you for making this video! It was a huge help seeing what was involved. All 4 of my bushings were completely blown out. I almost decided to disconnect the steering rack from the subframe but glad I didn't. I used sockets to pound out the old bushings like you but I put the new ones in the freezer the night before and heated up the housings on the subframe and was able to tap them in easily. No more clunks! Now let's see how long before the CVT transmission lasts! ;)

i have one that just started dioing the noise, and i thought it was the control arm. after changing them (well replacing the bushings to polyurethane ones (on the control arm) it keeps on doing the noise, and thanks to your video i learned that its the frame bushing thanks a lot for the video - gracias mi hermano

The dealer I called told me that the bushings are attached to frame and don’t come separate and you have to buy the entire subframe ($1,000), what a bunch of crooks and liars. @@paulmccabe2889 yea u can never compare the old stuff to the new stuff now a days they make everything cheaper and messes up faster and u have to buy the part again make sense to make. more money . but yea them bushings make a real bad metal noise and the whole sub frame has to get taken of my mechanic did the same thing like this video and it ended up working like a charm

@@nestorautorepair I didnt unplug any electronics. The only thing I think it might be is maybe I pinched one of the abs sensor cables on install? everything looked normal though.
My buddy and I tried to do this but we could not get the bushings in the whole flush my car is shaking when I stopped and making a clunking noise like something is loose is this the problem?
Ok look like something is missing there make sure you check all the sensor that they are connect , also by the brake pedal chech up there and see if any connection is not connected ,, if everything looks good to you ,, disconnect both battery terminal off the battery and zip tie them together (+-) and wait 20 minutes then connect the (+) 1 then the (-) and drive it and the light will go away after like 5 minutes driving ,, let me know how it goes
I think this might be it on mu car too. I've replaced control arms , steering rack , stabilizer links. And it jerks around when changing gears.... steering feels sloppy and like metal banging..

The engine and transmission are hold by the engine and transmission mount, you don't need any extra support , but if you want yes you can support it from the top

Great video, but dropping the rack and pinion with subframe is pointless. You’re wasting time. Just remove the two bolts and tie it to the engine and leave it hanging.
Engine is supported by upper cantilever engine mounts. Disconnect lower ball joints, steering rack and sway bar from subframe. Remove 4 subframe mount bolts, remove subframe. Easy 20 minute removal with three tower jacks and a lift.

Will I be able to take the sub frame off while the car is sitting on ramps no problem? Or does it need to be on jacks to take the frame off?
No ramp will not work because the wheels need to be off ,, jack stands will work good

Yes you need to remove it , you can't if you don't remove it
