Vasquez Rocks with Kids - Hiking & Climbing Near Los Angeles in Agua Dulce

Vasquez Rocks is a famous rock formation north of Los Angeles, seen in many famous movies and shows like Star Trek.
OVERVIEW:
About an hour north of Los Angeles, Vasquez Rocks is a famous rock formation defined by diagonal lines and sharp peaks. It’s been seen in numerous films and shows. It’s right off the road and really easy to access, so it’s a popular destination for people in the area.
From the entrance it’s about a half mile dirt road to the rocks. There are several parking lots along the way. Around the rocks are multiple hiking trails that you can take. The rocks themselves have a few places where you can boulder and climb. Some are more challenging than others, so use caution.

The entrance to Vasquez rocks is open daily from sunrise to sunset

Vasquez Rocks is located near Agua Dulce, just off the 14 highway between Santa Clarita and Palmdale.

PARKING:
Parking is free. There are multiple parking lots at different places on the dirt road from the entrance to the rocks, including one at the visitors center (furthest away from rocks) and one right next to the rocks (closest).
