Thanks Joe this is Eastern Washington State, not often seen since there is no citys over here anyone cares about & never is shown in the movies you would think the Pacific Northwest was just rain forests but most of it's like this over here, just no jobs & you need a 3 day weekend to get here form Seattle around 5 1/2 hour drive. It's paradise & I've only scratched the surface on what to show you guys out here. Lol this made my day. I've been kind of a caretaker for the last 3 months, it's been hard to get away. A family member had a huge seizure & can't drive so I've been unable to do the longer trips. Hoping to get out this next month though on something really big, I want to do something like 6 days in the Pasayten Wilderness on the PNW trail. This channel might go full gear channel I can't decide, I do this for a living & this channel is just killing it on amazon/gear sales. I put a lot of effort into the winter series & it didn't really pay off. The new format takes around 10 hours to edit an hour of footage it's a ton of work with all the extras & I if anything want to add even more details. But gear & bear stuff seems to be driving the channel, I've been tempted to make a well edited bear video from my perspective that also analyzes my video but not sure if I want to dip into that fire pit again.
The channel hit 1k a week ago it's moving along got monetized I just don't have clear direction & I don't think I have a firm audience yet possibly from stretching myself to thin. I stopped working on my other channels expect for the bigfoot thing & the idea was to just go full hog on Will Wild but I think I didn't get specific enough, best advice I can give a youtuber is be niche but then be specific, I'd rather have 100 videos that have "backpacking" or "backpacking gear" than 100 videos of mixed outdoor subjects.
With the bigfoot thing I watched a ton of stuff after getting into the missing 411 I think there is a connection but I noticed these guys were just going camping & looking in the woods & people are eating it up, so I figure shit I'm doing that now but I'm going deep into the woods & no one is doing that in the bf community & I have an interest so to me it was a way to make the adventure videos work where they are kind of not working on Will Wild. That being said my Winter stuff I'm expecting will explode, my 1st winter video from the shelter series is ranked 1# in "backpacking in the winter" & "backpacking in the snow" & top 10 in a number of other winter search terms so there is that too, I think that will pop the channel a lot more than this spring/summer rush.
So to wrap up a ton of words I'm trying to figure out where my time will be best spent here. Thanks for keeping me in the feed! Have you guys had a chance to get out much?
@@WillWildsOutdoorAdventures I'm so sorry to hear about your family member Will. Family comes before UA-cam and you're doing the right thing by putting them first. Any fans understand that. Don't even worry about putting content out on a schedule. You do what you can when you can - quality over quantity. Do you remember the meme of "overly attached girlfriend"? Her name is Laina. She just put out a video that broaches that topic. It was a really honest look into the pressures of UA-cam behind the scenes. Your new projects sound exciting! We haven't done anything this year. We've had some issues as well and I had a major injury that I'm still dealing with and that's hampering my abilities. We're spending five days in the Algonquin Highlands backcountry in August though. I haven't even put out my videos from last August's Kawartha Highlands backcountry trip. I'll put them up when I can, even if they're a year old. That's life eh.
