I've always considered big, wide rear tires tucked neatly into the stock or subtly modified rear fenders with tubs or mini tubs to be a hard requirement of the Pro Touring identity. The Stielow '69 Camaros exemplify this well. If a car has all the requirements outlined, but stock tubs and a wheel/tire package that fits the stock confines, it's an extensive restomod, but not quite a Pro Touring, IMO of course.
I love Resto Mods, For the Big improvement in Ground pounding Torque, like a 1968 Charger RT in 500 Option trim Smooth Rear window glass if Dodge Made the 500 in RT option trim. But one of my favorite muscle car's after the Mad max like Fmc Torino Gt Sport Roof car. with a 428SCJ Ram Air ilk.
Good narrative. Requisite to being a Pro-Touring Car would be the right suspension, huge brakes, superfast engine with proper low gearing for tight acceleration spaces, and all the safety equipment, esp. a roll cage.
The Pro Street cars seem more like Pro Mod racers than Pro Stock racers to me. The Pro Touring cars seem more all around capable and desirable cars to me. Thanks for the video.
Pro Touring are a street version of Can Am... minus the side pipes. I marvel at the craftsmanship of some of these cars... I dare say some are falling into that "Erector Set" theme which looks great now but will it in 10 years. Period correct "style" wheels are always a sure thing.
This just gave me a I Great idea, I'd Love to see the OEM's Do a Actual pro Touring Car on the Option list Something GM, FMC, & Fiat Chrysler haven't done yet & Definitely missing out on the Millions of dollars just waiting to be made. And of course they'll be Numbered car's But Cheaper than the things they offer today. Can't wait to see if Someone from either of these companies actually read my comment seriously.
That was good, you should do RAT ROD next. In my opinion, if a vehicle has fake rust and it cost 100 plus grand to build, it's not a Rat Rod. A Rat Rod is a car built on a tight budget with parts scavenged from a junkyard.
That is a pretty broad question. Part of the pro-touring spirit is to take a car you like, and modify it to perform better. What is your favorite platform / car?
@@V8TV I'm just asking as your personal opinion. I currently have a 1971 chevelle with ride tech full suspension, aftermarket wheels, a lil custom interior and a 350 with some mods under the hood.
@@awokeone7997 Gotcha. I think it comes down to what you plan to do with the car. First and Second gen Camaros and Mustangs can be made to handle and perform pretty amazingly, but I'd prefer the comfort of a larger platform like your Chevelle for long drives. The F-body would be more nimble on the autocross and less friendly on the open road. The cool thing is how great the parts are today to build these cars, your RideTech system is a great example!

I think you don't see as many because originals fetch such high values at auctions, and the Mopar crowd doesn't seem to be as enthusiastic about modifying them in this manner.
